And this entire thing about Nebraska being a bad location for recruiting is such bogus rhetoric. First Lincoln is a pretty dang good college college town/city, it has everything other big cities have for college kids. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State get recruits to come to them and they are practically as "remote" as Nebraska. Are they closer to Texas? yes, but taking a flight from Texas to Oklahoma or Texas to Nebraska is maybe a difference of an hour, so you're not that far away in travels.

Pac-12 schools recruit players from Florida all the time, That is separated by the entire country. With Nebraska's facilities, their fans diehard fandom, Lincoln should be an easy sell to football recruits. I mean hearing some people drop the "location" as a negative for Nebraska is just ridiculous because it isn't like Lincoln is some 30,000 population Podunk town. There are much smaller places out there that are having better success then Nebraska.

It's why Frost may just work. He knows Nebraska, would have passion to succeed greatly at Nebraska and could sell his point of view from personal experience to recruits on Nebraska. He will also have some Florida pipeline (maybe?) coming into Nebraska.

Dude, pass that stuff this way because from the way you are talking, its some bomb s#!t.

    You cant be serious......

  2. It all depends on the weather forecasters, unfortunately. If they are right, it should be a nice day. Here in Seattle, its beautiful out compared to 48 hours ago. If that much can change here without rain in 48 hours, I think with the rain it could clear up nicely.

I looked at your link and took today's "forecast" as a forecast for 24 hours later, meaning what they guess tomorrow will be like.  Look at the time progression map

  3. When tommy couldnt complete simple passes, defenses started stacking the box with 8 defenders. The DLine didnt have to stay at home, they were able to do full rushes. LB's blitzed and played run first. But, if you have a qb that can check down, throw simple 5 yard passes and screens.... now that means the DLine has to stay at home, so they dont get burned by a middle screen. The LB's have to play pass first because of crossing routes and slants from slots and TEs. There is a cascading effect when your QB can deliver the ball quickly and accurately. Then the D wont stack the box.... and now we can run the ball. Its the passing to open up the run philosophy. When teams drop back their coverages to cover the pass, you pound the ball until they bring up a safety for support, then you burn them deep. Its a chess match, and we havent had a decent chess player since Osborne.

  4. So when it happens to Riley, its because he isnt good at numbers or recruiting? What happens when it happens to Nick Saban, almost on a yearly basis? This happens to every staff. I follow several p5 teams, and this is a common occurrence. You cant force kids to be honest with you. Some kids think when they commit to a school, they dont have to go to HS classes anymore.

Some people here need to find a hobby for the next 6 weeks.

We are still paying Bo a lot of money ($1.8 million per year until 2019) that could be given to the staff.

The $ that is paying Bo's payout is coming from a different source of funds. It's not coming from Athletic Department funds. If you want to complain about things, get your facts straight before complaining about something.

Where in my post is there a complaint? I was simply posting that we have a decent chunk of change going out that should end in the next few years. That "special fund" is money that could have been donated to the athletic fund, had it not been needed to get rid of Bo. /smh

I wouldn't call Ameer a big bruising back and I wouldn't call Burkhead a fast agile back.

Ameer could run between the tackles with the best of them. Lower leg strength was off the charts.

Rex lacked top end speed but had plenty of quick/shifty on the outside.

Unless you are speaking purely from a measurables standpoint.

Agree with you completely Warrior. Ameer hit a hole harder than most backs I've ever seen. He was a cannon ball between the tackles.

And I still think people underrate Rex's athleticism because, ya know, hes white. Rex nearly always made the first man miss. In his draft class at the combine he was ranked as follows among ~35 RB's:

    Vertical Jump, 2nd

    Broad Jump, 2nd

    3 Cone Drill, 4th

    20 YD Shuttle, 2nd

    60 YD Shuttle, 5th

That's a combine with Gio Bernard, CJ Anderson, Montee Ball, LeVeon Bell, Kenjon Barner, Knile Davis, Christine Michael, Theo Riddick, Andre Ellington, etc.

And that's my off-topic message for the month.

Ya, but he also ran a 4.73 40y at the combine.

  7. I guess I'm a little confused as to what type of back our staff is looking for to compliment their scheme.

It looks like they want a larger, powerful type back. I'm somewhat surprised at that. I would have thought they would want one that would be better in space with speed and agility catching the ball out of the backfield.

I think they are looking for bigger backs because of their need to block pass rushers/blitzers in the pro scheme. 5'10 180lbs taking on a 245lb blitzing OLB isn't a good matchup, imo.
