    Where did they say that?

Read the game thread.  There are fans saying that Chinander isn't the answer at DC and we need someone better.

All I am saying people: let's give these coaches, specifically Chinander and the rest of the defensive coaches a couple of years before we make any judgments as to whether or not they should be replaced.

I really think those chimichangas you are downing are really strong. Take a break. Are you seriously comparing Ohio state’s DC with chinander? Please...Ohio state is 7-1. They had a bad game and Purdue were playing motivated. We were beat by Troy who lost to liberty. Stop defending chinander.

Listen very carefully...I AM NOT SAYING THAT WE SHOULD FIRE CHINANDER...but he has a lot of work to prove himself. I suggested that he go to the booth and see if that will help him see the field better, which may improve his play calling. I think he deserves at least a couple of years. However, our special teams are anything but special, and something MUST BE DONE at the end of this year. If that hurts your feelings, ignore my posts and stop replaying to them because you are starting to get on my nerves.

I am comparing how some fans are saying that Chinander has to go because Nebraska gave up +/-450 yards of offense to Minnesota.

I am contrasting that with the fact that Purdue just put up ~550 yards and 49 points against Ohio State.  I think we all agree that from a "talent" perspective alone, Ohio State is where we want to be.  And if an offense can put up those kinds of numbers against a defense the caliber of Ohio State's, then maybe, just MAYBE there might be some absurd, ridiculous, over-the-top, we suck and need to fire the DC rhetoric going on.

Because RIGHT...that's EXACTLY what Nebraska needs right now...fire Chinander and bring in a 5th DC (with all new schemes and re-starting the learning curve) in 6 years.

That's what I'm pissed about.  The fans whose knowledge of football, especially defense, is so small, they could put it inside a Cheerio and there'd be room to spare.

My points here, and I'll gladly draw them out in crayon if you'd like: 1) The rules have been liberalized to dramatically favor the offense.  2) Pretty much every team runs some version of an up-tempo, spread offense.  And 3) Our opponents are going to move the ball and score points.

That's just the nature and reality of college football today.  Saying we need to fire our DC (after 7 games into his first season no less) because they allowed 28 points is absolutely f'ing LUDICROUS!

    I learned the following:

    (1) Our offense has been great enough to win us many of the games we lost this year

    (2) Our defense is not good enough to win us games  yet. I really think that chinander going to the booth might allow him to see the field better and make better calls.

    (3) We have NO SPECIAL TEAMS WHAT SO EVER. In fact, they are not even trying to do anything special. No great teams have ever been able to win championships without good special teams. We will not become great again until we work on having great special teams. We can sugar coat this all we want, we do not have a good special teams coach and that is plain obvious.

    (4) When we only commit six penalties and get two turnovers, we win. Imagine that! If we did this in four other games, we would have easily won those games. I can easily see us 5-2 instead of 1-6.

It is such a great feeling to win again. I feel happy for Frost and these players and hope that this is the start of something special.

Finally, to those who post cussing and belittling other members who criticize some of the coaches, I say, get over yourselves. If we want our beloved Huskers to get back to championship form, we need to have good coaches. Frost is a good coach, chinander is not, at least not yet. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion without having others cussing at them because they stated their opinion. If you don’t like the posts, stop reading and go drink some beer.

You DO realize that Purdue just put up 500+ yards of offense and 49 points against Ohio State, RIGHT??????

So according to the "logic" from some on this board, Ohio State has no talent and OBVIOUSLY they need to fire their DC and bring in someone else who can do better.

no, the odd thing was the flag was thrown well after the play when martinez was standing next to the ref. thought he was getting an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty thrown on him.

Regardless, we're in agreement (I think) that is was a truly odd call.

I mean, if there was a defender hanging onto AM...or he was on the verge of being tackled, okay fine, throw the flag.

But to be standing there with defenders 1+ yards away and not even close to tackling him, how is that flag thrown?????  Just bizarre.

There weren't any receivers maybe going there that then cut off their routes - he threw it away to nobody on purpose. It was the right call, even if you rarely see it.

    The odd thing though...

There was NOT a defender hanging onto Martinez nor was he on the verge of being tackled.  There were two defenders there, but they were both 1-2 yards away.

And "weird" that a call like that somehow goes against Nebraska.

In 50 years of watching football , I have never seen intentional grounding called on a long pass where the receiver cut off his route.

Yeah, that was full on bizarre.  I have never seen that kind of call either.  Just mind-numbing.

    99.9% of us know that.

If there is officiating bias, it's because we're a bad team and the officials don't give us the benefit of the doubt like they might give to other teams.

Bias is consistently calling one team for penalties that you let slide for every other team.

Minnesota had a TD pass negated because of a holding penalty.  That was the first holding penalty called on any of our conference opponents in 21 games.

Stop and think about that.  21 games our opponents were NOT called for any holding.  And you're insisting there is no bias against Nebraska?  Not buying it.

  8. I learned somw Nebraska fans expect our defense to hold every single opponent to -89 yards and no points.  Hell, even then they'd probably still want to fire the DC because -89 yards wouldn't be good enough for them.

Okay so this ^^^ is clearly hyperbole on my part, but still doesn't change the fact that some members of our fanbase have incredibly unrealistic expectations for our defense.

F that noise.  I am so sick and tired of the whiny, petulant, spoiled, Nebraska fans, posting on this site, crying like babies because defensively Nebraska didn't hold our opponent to -89 yards and zero points.

I am sick of hearing their whining.

We won for the first time today under Scott Frost.  We've seen this team get better each week.  We've seen this team keep fighting.  Better days are ahead but I wish I could 86 some of our fans.  Have them take their cancerous fandom elsewhere.

I am not saying that coaches are above criticism.  But the absurd, over the top, fire the coaches, mentality has to stop.  This staff is midway through their first season.  Cripes, give them time.

I don't think anyone wants him fired after 7 games. Give him a couple years, but the Nebraska D is very bad. Northwestern only scored 18 on a 1-7 Rutgers team today.

Go back and re-read posts within this thread.  There are people saying Chinander isn't the answer and needs to go.  It is g'd ludicrous.

  11. In today's college football game, just about every team is going to give up yards and points.  Seemingly every offense runs a spread, uptempo scheme.  Every defense, no matter how well designed, has a weakness which can be exploited.

I am 100% on board with Chinander.  He's putting guys, schematically, into the right positions.  We actually got a lot of 3 and outs from the defense.

It was tough for the defense when they brought in the #2 QB...kid was a baller and not rattled at all.  I think those of you whining about how many yards and points the defense gave up today need to go back to Football 100.

    Facts:

    1. This is Chinander's first season.

    2. In the last 5 years, Nebraska's defense has been through 4 different defensive scheme changes: Pelini, Banker, Diaco, and now Chinander.

Good gawd...stop with the "we have to fire ______ coach" crap.

    Get a damn grip.  :throw

  12. Good f'ing gawd...

We have a 20 point lead in a Big 10 conference game for the first time in like two f'ing years.

And we STILL have people f'ing whining about how bad Chinander is, how the offense has let up, we suck, etc.

SERIOUSLY, can't you guys just f'ing enjoy our success thus far???
