  1. I don’t understand the love for prime.  What has he really done to earn him a place beside urban or other top names?   A couple years at a low division football?   I have no interest in his personality.    We need a proven coach.  A proven recruiter.   Someone that has proven to be able to turn teams around with time  we need a guy who can get us to 8-10 wins in 5 years and then be consistent at that level

  2. Season is over.  Has been for a long time.  Need to see what you have in the QB room with younger players and make some decisions.    Start evaluating the entire team starters and bench players. That means some young players need to be rotated in. No need to try to win games at this point. More important to look at what is on the team for the future

Enjoyed your thoughts ... but of course, I'd be willing to stomach Urban.  I don't think he would be that bad.

Here's what I'd do.  I'd see if he would bite on something like what Frost was given.  Maybe, just a bit more.  Now, before you throw stones ... please, let me finish.

From there, I'd make a contract that was filled with incentives.  In that would be a bonus for B1G conferene record, a bonus for winning the East side of the conference, a bonus for winning the B1G and on upwards.  I'd also put a bonus in there for a timeline on the turn around.  In all this, I would make it specific to a period of years being around 3-4.

I haven't really seen a contract for a coach that would be really geared more toward a "performance contract".  I would set out a course for his record and then as well a few aspects related to character and the state of the program that will be maintained [and bonuses there as well].

Because he has a shorter window ... and a successful track record, this is how I would take on Urban as a coach that I think provides some necessary safe guards.

Would/will that happen ... I doubt it!  It's at least a view and an idea.

I agree with you...i have no problem bringing in Urban...all of this "character" stuff seems to turn a blind eye on the police having TO on speed dial.  If rumors are to be true, Solich never passing up a drink...The difference with the "golden years" is that social media was not a thing so the true activities of the team and some coaches were not exposed widely.   Bring Urban in, pay him a bunch of money, have a contract to help protect you, and wait for the program to be turned around...he wont last 5 years but in 3 he can get this ship in the right direction.

Im not sure this is good, this team is loosing there leaders.  Again im not saying they needed to stay but how much are the kids going to want to work or stick around when people they have had personal relationships with for years are getting axed.

Depends on who you replace them with.  If they have a name and track record many players will be excited

You’re right. At some we’re enabling the behavior. The sellout streak is meaningless if we’re a mid-tier program or less…

How does it make it any less meaningful if we are winning vs losing?  You don’t think any and all programs and players would love to see full stands Every game?   It show support for this team and university is not just  fair weather fans

at the very least an offer needs to be made to urban, and it needs to be publicly announced that an offer was made.

fans should expect nothing less. passing on Urban is an F U to the fans who have supported some awful football over the last 20 years.

if Fox can hire urban with very little public backlash then a public university should have zero problem hiring him.

i will not be going to another game any time soon if we hire a 6 win coach from the big 12.

Need to hear urban say no.  How many times do they say one thing but are talking another behind closed doors.

Too worried about a nice guy with good character and a squeaky clean image.... typical loser's mentality

I think the issue is people are mistaken that this is academic program football.  This is semi professional football.  When there is the kind of money associated with a football program like Nebraska or big ten in general, players making money that is semi pro. Character or whatever of the coach isn’t as paramount as winning.

A rebuild isn’t a rebuild anymore. Look at Riley and usc, Tucker at msu. Urban doesn’t need 3-4 recruiting cycles like before. Between the transfer portal, NIL and his coaching chops/track record in college he’d have us as a 9 win team in year 1

I agree and let’s be honest Nebraska fans aren’t expecting National championship any time soon but I think we all just want a program that can win 8-10 consistently.   So that type of rebuilding is doable quickly
