"No matter where the Huskers are ranked in the preseason, if they beat the Trojans and Longhorns on the way to an unbeaten season, they're in the national title game no matter how many other teams are unbeaten."
It's nice to read someone else right this!!

Kansas officials meet with NCAA to prevent harsh penalties
http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketbal...l/story/9599936
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas officials met with the NCAA for about seven hours Sunday in an effort to head off any harsher penalties than those the Jayhawks have already imposed on themselves for rules infractions.
A delegation including football coach Mark Mangino, basketball coach Bill Self, athletic director Lew Perkins and chancellor Robert Hemenway met with the NCAA infractions committee in the Tremont Plaza Hotel in Baltimore, answering 11 charges of wrongdoing.
The school's only public comment was a brief statement by Hemenway praising the committee for providing a fair hearing and saying a decision by the NCAA was expected in five to seven weeks.
Shortly after Perkins succeeded Al Bohl as athletic director two years ago, Kansas began an internal probe of violations that allegedly occurred during 1997-2003. The school self-reported violations involving football and men's and women's basketball, then put itself on probation for two years and reduced scholarships in both football and women's basketball.
After conducting its own investigation, the NCAA added the potentially serious charge of lack of institutional control during that six-year period. Also worrisome to Kansas is the label "academic fraud" the NCAA has put on violations that occurred in the football program.
Potentially, the NCAA could order further scholarship reductions, recruiting restrictions and a ban on postseason appearances by the football and basketball team.
NCAA officials never comment about ongoing investigations.
"I don't think it would be productive to speculate on how the committee reacted to our presentation," Hemenway said. "Our focus now is that this chapter is over. We can now move forward confident that the changes we've made in the area of compliance will help prevent us from going through this again."
Hemenway said the university would not comment further on the NCAA investigation until the committee announces its decision in about six weeks.

from a blog on LJS
apparently ML had a 45 yard TD against the #1 defense and credits the O-line
"Just a quick report from Saturday's morning practice. Nebraska held a full scrimmage in Memorial Stadium.
"It was the first time we’ve scrimmaged in training camp since I’ve been here," said coach Callahan.
We couldn't watch, but Marlon Lucky reportedly broke a touchdown run of some 40 or 45 yards against the No. 1 defense toward the end of the scrimmage. Lucky said it came on a stretch play, and credited the O-line.
Brian Hildebrand and Ricky Thenarse were at the morning practice but not in action. They first have to pass a physical.
Today is the first two-a-day session this fall. We aren't allowed any interviews after the afternoon practice, so no update then."
later on in the blog Brian Rosenthal says that he asked Marlon which lineman made the key block to bust him loose and he said all of them
Great now our defense is suspect!

Hey College Football "expert" (term used loosely). Cory Ross has graduated and is playing for the Ravens.
DONE!
"Cory Ross could share the backfield in 2006"
What an Idiot!!!
Maybe with the Ravens.

Word now is that Harrison Beck has transferred to NC State:

Daily @ UNC
Beck @ NC State
Too bad they don't play college B-Ball, because both of those teams have less college football history NW Poly Tech Institute for the Athletically Challenged.
-
Yeah but we need bodies in the defensive backfield and we are deeper at WR. Maybe he can be like Troy Brown from the Pats.
-
He quit, I have no time for quitters. Let's talk about people who want to be here.
-
GOOD!!!! Take your cry-baby bullsh#t attitude and head on down and let your mommy give you a hug and make it all better!!! Don't forget your tampons!!!!
No sh!t....In ten years he will be talking about buying a time machine to go back to 2006 and throwing a pig skin a quarter mile....while living out of his van!
-
can he play CB?
-
Really!!!! Well I guess it is only a rumor so we'll have to see. However, what does he think he's going to accomplish??? If I was a coach for let's say Florida, I wouldn't want some quiter that's going to bitch and moan about playing time his Sophmore year!!! I would want someone who's going to wait his f'ing turn and learn as much as possible while the experienced QB's are here!!!!
If he does go to a Florida team...It will be Central Florida or USF.
-
I have been a Beck supporter up until now.
Now? Eh, I could take him or leave him.
Take him or leave him???? He better get back soon, and even if he does...do we really want to hinge our hopes for the next few years on a quitter?
-
But I am sure Zac let his coach know about his plans and didn't just bail on everyone. IMO.
Definitely!!!
-
Hopefully Zac can get in his ear and straighten him out....though, Zac did leave his team at Wake Forest.
-
the thing that impresses me about beck, and this is just given that he's seen the field... what, one time?... is that we haven't heard as much as a peep out of this kid.
no complaints. no whining. no "i'm gonna take my ball and go home if you don't play me now!" talk at all.
and our head coach hasn't had to chase him back home and ask him to come back to out program either.
*ahem*
what does this tell us about harrison?
my impression: he knows what he's got and he knows his time will come. in the meantime he's studying billy c.'s bible and watching how zac carries himself.
my prediction: when zac goes on to bigger and better things, huskers won't retrain a quarterback... they'll reload.
Or maybe the exact opposite is true!!
-
Koch will get work for sure..Cory just needs the chance to show what he can do!
-
looks good to me!!
