Walters wanted the head coaching job.  He might have also wanted to see if he was offered an OC spot where he was the play caller.  I get bringing all the offensive guys over, but I'm not fond of keeping all of the defensive guys.  The defense looked horrible in the last two games.

I guarantee you that our defense will be better with this crew.  Guaranteed.

    Yep.  Why not.....

Getting rid of Pelini was tougher than Perlman expected.  Osborne wouldn't cooperate.....then boosters and regents wouldn't cooperate.

So really why does this even matter now?  Because if Perlman and/or Eichorst were still here, Frost would not be.

Why didn't Frost get a call after Pelini I was fired?  Well, can you imagine Eichorst telling Perlman "hey Harv, we're gonna interview a coach from Osborne's close circle"?

    Is this Bo Pelini?

I mentioned this on another board as a reason to hire Walters. Walters could be HC for the game, Frost could be his OC and then a lot of the awkwardness goes away. Like a band reuniting for one show, even though they're all going their separate ways after.

Most UCF fans are conflicted. We know that Auburn will be a tougher opponent than Baylor was in our last big bowl and that we have no chance with Heupel and a bunch of new assistants installing a new system in a few weeks. And I think most UCF fans admire Frost for actually wanting to be loyal to the players and not leave the school hanging.

The most complicating factor is the recruit poaching. I'm not really sure WTH Frost is thinking with that. You can either be magnanimous or screw over your former team in these situations, but there's not a lot of gray area.

You're already screwing over the team by taking all the coaches and making sure the team will not be the same one that shows up at the bowl. But you can explain it away as "we have a good team of coaches, we wanted to stay together, didn't know who the new coach would be" and if you come back for the bowl, I think all reasonable people understand.

But know one is forcing you to poach recruits. And I get it from Frost's perspective, most of these recruits committed to him and not the university and who knows if the new coach will want/utilize them. But it looks really bad. And it knocks down the magnanimity down quite a few pegs and leaves a lot of people very suspicious of what else you're capable of.

If I'm White, I tell him to stay away from the recruits or not coach in the bowl. Be a hero or a jerk, but don't try to be both, it just makes a lot of people unhappy.

Here’s another way to look at it: Frost has been working with these high school kids, giving them his time, and giving them scholarships.  What is he supposed to do now? Abandon them?  Maybe he told them: “I’m not going to talk you into coming to Nebraska, but if you want to, I’ll still give you a scholarship as I promised you that I would before.”

^^^This could be the case, and if so, it seems fair.  But, I understand where you’re coming from.

Wait, so you're predicting Scott Frost to go undefeated in year two, but then not play in a bowl game or the B1G Championship game? Because you have us playing 13 total games in year one, so...

It’s what I refer to as a joke.  I’m be telling a lot of them here.

  5. I had no idea that Eichorst was possibly going full Jerry Jones with our football program, so some of this makes more sense now.

My only fear after Frost was hired is where this program could trend in the future (post Scott Frost mind you), because there seems to be teeter totter effect in the administration.  Example: Petersen takes us down, Osborne takes us up, Pearlman/Eichorst takes us down, Green, and Moos takes us up.

Hiring Matt as associate AD has made me feel much better about our future.  We CANNOT  have one, or two corporate administration employees making boneheaded decisions anymore.  We need to be united, on the same page.  We’re not Tennessee, we’re Nebraska; Nebraska fans know better.

When Solich was fired, a lot of fans wanted Bo; the administration didn’t listen, and hired Cahallan.  The fans wanted Bo, and Bo did better.  When Bo was fired, the fans wanted...  not Riley, and the administration didn’t listen.  When Riley was fired, the fans wanted Frost, and we can all agree that Frost will be better.

Power to Nebraska fans.  We’re second to none.

Good men do the right thing now matter what is best for them or how hard it may be.  I think it speaks volumes about his character and I am happy that man like him is representing my team and home state.

I think Scott coaching is the right thing to do.  It speaks volumes for Moos, too.

Personally, I have some concerns about Frost coaching the Peach Bowl as an outsider looking in on that situation.

Charles Davis brought up a good point on USC yesterday when he said he felt Frost should not coach that game. Davis referenced a previous (Duke?) coach who left to take a new job but decided to come back to do that bowl game. During that game, the coach had to get after a player a little bit on the sidelines. The player basically gave the coach an up and down saying 'why should I listen to you when you aren't going to be here next year.' It was uncomfortable and the coach said, if given the opportunity, he would never coach in a situation like that again.

Second, much of the fan base, university and players sort of said their goodbyes with the send off in the championship game.

Lastly, Scott's staff has already sent offers to some kids who they previously offered at UCF i.e. they're trying to poach some commits.

Now, I'm not on that team and I'm not Frost. I also heard his justification for why he would try to coach the game. But, after weighing all these things, it sort of seems like a break up where you tell the girl/guy you'll go on one last date even though you've already ended the relationship and will not be coming back. It just feels odd. But, that's from my shoes.

    Good point(s).

I feel that it’s a gamble.  If UCF wins, it’ll be a good thing that he coached it.  If UCF gets spanked/embarrassed, it’ll be a bad thing for him to coach it; just my opinion.

I just hope they can keep it close, within spread.

Personally, I don’t think UCF is a top 4 team whether coached by Frost or Pelini that doesn’t change for me. The have a couple nice wins but you get a lot of walkovers in that conference outside of the top three. Not having to line up against teams like AM LSU or even Iowa and Michigan as some of your “middle of the road” games is a big advantage. You just get beat up more on a weekly basis in the P5.

No matter how hard I try, I cannot read your posts without hearing the voice of Patrick Bateman in my head.
