Our offense had 500 yards for the third time this season
We were only out-yarded by 15 yards
I was actually pleasantly surprised by how our defense held up to their running game. They had some big plays but we held them to 3-5 yards on a lot more runs than I expected. I thought they might be getting 8-10 all night long. We just could not get them held to 0-1 very often so we couldn't get off the field.
I like the positives you list, but let’s be honest - this was a “look beyond” game for the Badgers. They play Michigan next week, and they knew they could win by just showing up yesterday.

We got a ton of calls our way today. I cannot and will not complain about the refs. We were sloppy at times and got called out. Thats ok. There were plenty of plays where we stole a bad call.
Yep, just plain ol’ silly to blame the refs for winless season - geesh

Hard to have swagger when you’ve only won 5 of your last 20 games in my opinion
This deserves comment of the week honors my friend - you nailed it!!

If we only won 3 games this year and they were Wisconsin, BCU and Iowa I would be the happiest about a season in a long time. Seriously. I could even stomach 2-10 if it meant we beat Wisconsin and Iowa.
That is really funny - last year they put a combined 94 points on us. Won’t be any different this year. I am hoping BCU is in the win column, but no sure thing.

You missed the most important part. Recruiting. They do it on a much higher scale than us and that needs to change and change fast
At this point, the best high school recruits will choose any other of a large number of excellent programs over Nebraska. The new reality is that we are now a small fish in a big pond. This fact will take time to change - if we can.

In another post, someone asked if Frost regrets coming here. I strongly believe that he does not regret coming back to Nebraska but I am confident he regrets saying that the BIG will have to adjust to playing Nebraska style football. Those comments were taken very seriously and I believe that the BIG coaches and refs are on a mission to make him eat his words.
Nothing like providing bulletin board material for the opposition.

We learned .... Wisconsin, Northwestern, Ohio State, Michigan State, Iowa, will all pummel us.

I do not remember anyone saying that. Mike Riley was a terrible coach and a horrible recruiter. It is going to take time for Frost to rebuild after the absolute disaster that was the "Riley era." Fans just need to be patient.
Last fall this forum was filled with posters who said with the current “highly ranked” players on the field, a new (better) coach could easily win 8-9 games. Just a fact.

Scary update - Northwestern is leading Michigan now : 17-7
-
We may be an also-ran program for a very long time. Too many excellent college programs across the country - and we are not one of them.
-
Geesh - What ever happened to “we have great player talent, we just need a new coach?”
-
We can always hope Purdue naps too long in the half time locker room
-
Have in the history of NE football, when was last time we were winless?

Think I’ll watch you tube videos from when Nebraska wasn’t a dumb team full of lazy kids.
Oh, but last year the mantra was that our talent was great - all we needed was a new coach!

Purdue is 1-3 boys and girls, and this our
home field!!

i was hoping there'd be more than 30-40 other programs across the country thinking we have the best fans.
Now that is funny!

This is a team game, not individual. After giving up 56 points last week, let’s hope the defense demonstrates some self-respect and shows up.
-
I don’t cringe at thinking the best fans, that’s the way it should be, but there are no less than 30-40 other programs across the country that would say the same thing.
-
“dilapidated program” .... that is brutal .... but true. Hurts a bit to get some perspective from outside the State of Nebraska.

Well, we opened as a home underdog. To Purdue. And Frost thought this last game was rock bottom.....
Purdue just beat #23, we lost by 46 points and are winless. Would you expect otherwise? We haven’t earned respect.

Power-I, walk-on program, "Frosting" the culture, etc... What this fan base needs is an adjustment in expectations. Since we joined the B1G we have lost 4 games EVERY year! We need to try to get back into the Big 12 where this type of offense would work and where we stand a fighting chance. Let's be real people, none of the players even remember us winning a conference title, let alone challenging for a national title. Why can't we schedule Iowa State for first weekend in December? They had a weather cancellation also. And we need to beat someone from Iowa this year!
Iowa State beat Akron today - we would have lost to Akron if that game had been played. In fact, the last time we played Iowa State in Lincoln - they beat us. Be careful what you wish for.
-
Hard to say. Which was worse - losing to Iowa by 42 last year on our home field? Or losing at Michigan by 46 this year? Both outcomes simply confirm we are a below average football program, and our opponents do not care who we once were - nor do they remember.
-
It will be iffy the rest of the way. Akron would have been one more loss.

I think we all know Wisconsin was looking ahead to next week’s game against Michigan. That said, it was nice to see some improvement.
