Too funny.  I've been more consistent then the 10-2, 9-3 crowd.  I've been realistic.  6-6 to 5-7 with a possible 7-5. Since then we lost our back up QB and our starting QB.  We have made the same MR team errors and showed lack of depth and stamina.

All this leads to your view of Debbie Downer when reality is staring you in the face. Anything can happen, I stated an opinion, just like you did.  If I'm a Debbie Downer then certainly 75% of the fan base on Huskerboard are Red Koolaid drinkers.  In a short time these same folks will turn on Frost before half way through the season.

No debating spirit.  Just expressing what I believe and see.

You are spot on. It is called reality. I predict 4, possibly 5 wins this year. One of the them will Not be at Michigan.

Agree. Bunch wasn’t awesome, but he is a walk on quarterback.  He did his part. It is the rest of the team that failed to pick him up not the other way around.

Very good point. Anytime you read someone blaming it all on the qb, you know they 1) do not understand the game, and 2) probably never played the game themselves.

Bubba Starling 3 minutes after lasik could have done better than Bunch.

Adrian Martinez on one leg could have done better than Bunch.

Gebbia throwing balls from Oregon could have played better than Bunch.

Stan the Man could have thrown passes to himself better than Bunch could have.

Jared Lorenzen could have rolled out and thrown better passes then Bunch..

Redout22 could not have done better than Bunch.

There are MANY others on the team who lost today. To single out and pin it on the quarterback is just plain wrong. How about we simply state a fact - Troy was better today than Nebraska. They deserved to win.

We split every year for the last 4 with the BIG doormats. That's why we look like this. When you go .500 with Purdue, Minnesota, Northwestern, Illinois,  Iowa, etc over the years you haven't been good for a long time.

My kid is a college student and didn't go to any games last year.  Why would she?  They haven't been very good her entire life.

Agree - College kids today don’t remember when Neb was considered a good program. They were babies. 17 years since we ended a season in the top 10. The players on the opposing teams don’t remember that either - Neb is just another so-so team on their schedule. This is the “not-so-new” reality.

Isn’t one of the best coaches in the country supposed to be able to take a talent pool, coach them up over 6-8 months, and beat a Troy or Purdue with anyone at QB?

That is what the kool-aid drinkers were saying last year. I recall that was a common theme.

Mad is fine. Plenty of posters that are unreasonable. I wonder if they hold themselves to impossible standards. Losing to Troy is frustrating but not completely unexpected. This team was awful last year and troy is a solid team.

Way too many of our fans do not realize that we are now a little fish in a big pond. Proof? Troy was just as athletic as we were, and they flat beat us - at our house.

I would love to play Iowa State as our 12th game.  Think of all the points and yards we could hang on them.

Not sure what point you are trying to make - ISU took Iowa to overtime last season, while we were embarrassed by the hawks. It would be of no benefit to schedule ISU and naively think it would be an automatic win.

Oh I don't expect us to be amazing next year. I'm just saying if we surprise some people, and win say 9 games it wouldn't shock me. Maybe "talent" is the wrong word, but I do put a lot of stock in recruiting rankings and the evidence that supports it. I think the caliber of athlete Frost will work with offensively next season, will be closer to his time at Oregon than it is at UCF currently. Don't confuse this for having high expectations, because I most definitely don't expect a big year - just saying I wouldn't count out the caliber of athlete we have and the impact of good coaching.

    Agreed!

Next year is one of those years that the fan base would be excited for a bowl game. That being said we have more talent than the rest of the division so who the hell knows where good coaching gets us. Recruit the players on the roster to stay, bring in a top 30 class - all bets are off.

I read a number of our fans resort to the “we have more talent then the rest of the division” comment. Easy to say, impossible to support. Frankly, I don’t buy it when we win only 4 games. I look for 3 to 5 years for a turnaround - one recruit, one practice, one game, one year at a time. Unrealistic expectations will get us nowhere.
