Jordy had off season knee surgery so that explains some of the regression this year. Hopefully his knee gets to 100% soon. He also didn't play basketball until his sophomore year in HS so that explains some of the footwork/coordination issues.
I think his biggest problem is that when he plays against smaller players and tries to back them down by putting a shoulder into their chest, they flop (see Creighton in the first half) and he gets a BS foul, so he tries to finesse his man down and by the time that happens a guard has collapsed down in a double team and he's not prepared to pick up his dribble and find the open man. He just hasn't developed the instincts of someone who played hoops all their life.

All 5 Nebraska losses were to teams with a top 50 RPI.
At some point the need to win a couple of those.

He can get two anytime he wants if we only have one defender on him. Refs bailed him out again not calling the travel.
Or any of 70 illegal screens he set.

And they lost again today. They will be coming in riding a 2 game losing streak.

Hopefully they bring the same effort Saturday that they brought last night. If that happens it should be a good game. They need to learn to bring that kind of effort when the crowd is against them not just at home.

Tommie in Creighton blue? Beyond the Pale!
Sadly I expect a 20 point beatdown in front of those sweatvest wearing beer drinkers.
I expect a 29 point beatdown. Why didn’t Miles recruit Mike Daum?
Nobody in Nebraska recruited Daum. Not the Huskers, not Creighton, not even UNO. Even SDSU's coach though he wouldn't pan out during is redshirt year.

They key will be getting them in foul trouble. They play 9/10 deep, but only 6 do any of the scoring.

Good win against an equal to lesser team. BC’s back court is skilled.
So, Jack McVeigh may be a bigger liability on defense than last year. And he was putrid last year.
Roby was hugely missed tonight. From his rebounding to help side defense. Definitely need that ankle to heal fast with what’s on deck
Jordy looks nothing like the player that ended last year, that’s slightly concerning
Still take some really bad shots that usually lead to or prolong the scoring droughts. Taylor had about three or four of these tonight
Learn to defend the pick and roll real quick please
Free throws reared their ugly head
GOOD s#!t
Life is better when you hit 50% from 3
Copeland and Palmer looked very good
Okeke is the defensive force at PF this program has lacked
when the leash is off and this team gets up and down the floor, they look VERY competitive
its another win enjoy it
Jack wasn't as bad last night as in Florida, so maybe there's some hope.
Jordy had offseason knee surgery, so it will take some time to get back to 100%. He has looked better as the season has progressed. Actually made a really good move/hook shot in the first half.
Hard to defend pick & roll when refs let the guy receiving the pass off the pick take three steps before dribbling.
Taylor & Palmer both have a tendency to take some bad shots. Usually not Taylor as much because he doesn't look to score a lot (but was last night). Zone defense seems to cause issues as it has for the last 15-20 years which leads to bad shots at the end the shot clock. Fix the zone attack, fix some of the bad shot issues.
All & all a decent win. Now if they can get one or two of the next four...

I get the idea of letting the season play out...but what do you need to see or not see?
Like...if he make the dance clearly he is fine. We know that.
But if that doesn't happen...what then?
Clearly NCAA saves his job (especially if they win a game or more). NIT might depending on if they make a run. If they end up a 7 or 8 seed in the NIT & go one & done, then he's probably gone. If they end up a 1-3 seed an make a run (thus showing promise for next year) he probably comes back.

Huskers averaging nearly 84 per game in wins, 57.5 in losses through 7 games. Clearly ball movement and tempo are VERY important for this team.

Please leave this thread here. No one will see it in the basketball forum.
The point here is that the ROT created by the former AD is massive and many changes need to be made soon. Miles, for sure, and maybe the women’s basketball coach. I say bring back Yori.
Miles was a TO hire, not an Eichorst hire.

Let them run, gun, press for the love of Andy Drevo.
I've said multiple times that when they play fast they look good. When they get stuck trying to play slow they look like crap. Not sure why they didn't try to speed up the game with Fall on the floor.

Huskers better play harder today than they did yesterday or they will be playing for 7th Sunday.

Iowa finally won a game in their holiday tournament, but gave up 85 to UAB. Purdue lost to Tennessee in OT.

Did I dream this up or was Petino supposedly on the hot seat early last year?
He brought in several transfers that sat out the year before (including Reggie Lynch) & got lucky that Amir Coffey decided to stay in state when he had offers from "better" schools.

I remember someone saying not to overreact to the St Johns game....HmmmmmI'd like to see them get St John's again on Sunday in Orlando. Hopefully Miles has learned that his team plays better when they don't try to slow down their offence. They don't play good when they go 150 mph, but they don't play good at 50 mph either. Somewhere in between is better.

I think I remember someone saying that the Big Ten was going to be down this year...Hmmmm
You may be right, but it is still too early to tell. Northwestern reminds me of the Huskers in Miles' third season. Looked good the previous year because they got hot for a time, but they couldn't duplicate that hot stretch the next year.

If you are looking for someone to replace Miles check out who ESPN thinks are on the rise.

Everyone around the team says this is the most talented team Miles has had since he got here & based on recruiting *'s they are right but they rarely seem to play as a team. It's one or two passes and drive the lane. No ball movement, just "get mine".
Miles says that they can play big or small, fast or slow but in six halves of basketball they have only played fast in one (North Texas first half) and they looked great in that one and like complete crap the other five. What should that tell him?
I am getting tired of NU adjusting the style they want to play based on the team they are playing. If you have more or equal talent you should play the way you want and make the other team adjust. Miles seems to still have that "small school" attitude that the other team is always more talented so you have to adjust to them. F that, make them adjust to you.

So, how good is St. John's supposed to be? They are 2-0. Last year they were not good with a 14-19 record.
ESPN & CBS Sports both had them in the mid 60's when they ranked all 351 D1 teams. Nebraska was around 100.
-
There were a ton of shots that were half way down in the 2nd half. Both inside & 3's. If those go down the 2nd half looks a lot better.
-
They seem to play well the first & last four minutes of each half, but the middle 12 not so much. Happened in both the exhibition game & this one. That needs to be corrected before they go to St John's on Thursday.
-
Took my 5 year old step granddaughter to the exhibition game Tuesday night for her birthday so hopefully the tradition will continue.

We could only use Morrow if he was willing to be an undersized 4/5 (which he isn't). He somehow thinks he's going to be able to play the 3 at the next level even though his ball handling and outside shooting are horrible.
