  1. I think 9 is winning and if you check both of their records none of the two won a national championship- Kelly crapped his pants in the NFL

I like the pirate he's entertaining but both him and Chippy wouldn't stoop so low to tickle the local media's scrotum an media would turn on them along with most of the world's greatest fans- just like they did to Pelini

Might also happen to Frost if he gets here- he doesn't seem like one to suffer fools either- is there another "nice" coach that'll juggle the medias/fans junk like MR that actually wins?

If there is get him here- he'd be the perfect fit

Frost, Kelly, Leach in that order...I’d be fine with any of em!

2 of the 3 have pretty recent "issues" that reek damaged goods- one of the reasons Leach was hanging out in the Keys for years after TT fired him, and also why Chip went to the NFL

no thanks to both of them. We don't need the NCAA snooping around looking for reasons to put us on probation

The play called and the RB chosen to run the play is different than not agreeing with going for it on 4th instead of kicking the FG. Going for it was the correct call. The play execution was poor.

yeah man but see the strain!! do you see it?

I don't mind Riley going for it on 4th down as much as he has.  It's usually been the right thing to do, even when the team fails in the effort.

well to paraphrase the ship of fools that make up our coaching staff, there wasn't a reasonable reason to have Wilbon in on the failed fourth down try unless of course you have no issues other than the games.

  5. there were people who honestly believed that Riley was getting fired by monday- normally reliable sources- something changed, it might have been that they were expecting SF's agent to agree in principle on the deal they offered and that has not happened so they are letting MR stay, im not sure that even makes a lot of sense, but there are a lot of components that could have changed and are changing on a day to day basis

 Yeah, no. Not what I said at all.

fair enough, then what was the intent of what you said?- was it a sarcastic statement? or was it just a simple statement to say we may have won a game or two more? I took the word "rather" to mean more than that- if so my bad

Any of those guys could run the Frost offense and I bet Frost would make them all look great. Probably POB and Gebbia would be better because they have better mobility but I think all 3 have a capable skill set for Frost to work around. Just because the product is bad and you think the coaches suck doesn't mean the players they brought in are going to be trash.

you're right, a good coach doesn't have to wait over a year to design around the players skills-sort of like ML and Langsdorf did with TA- the first year they forced him into a Pro-pocket passer-WRONG! a good coach would have adjusted his scheme to fit the athletes he has-back when we had real coaches we also used to convert players to positions all the time-RB to LBs, QB's to safeties etc.

IF THEY STAY- and IF WE GET SF, big if's 2 out of the three could be plugged into SF's scheme system- they could maybe work around LEE a bit if need be.

Even if his arm's not as good as Lee's, if he'd been the starter and just threw fewer picks than Lee, we might've had a rather different season...

At this point why would have that been good? these coaches need to go- so are you suggesting that we maybe win one or two more games IF POB was QB and that'd be enough to "keep" MR and his goofy staff?., whats the point? if people do not see that nothing you could do, short of getting rid of MR, will ever make MR a winner at Nebraska, then you're either a relative of his or a fan of one of our BIG rival teams- this was going to happen even if he had Joe Willie Namath in his prime as the QB and it was only a matter of time before it did- Me? better sooner than later. But I saw it for what it was when they hired him.

  9. POB has a big windup for a delivery which takes a fraction of a second longer than someone like Lee-enough time to make a difference in getting the ball off or throwing a mortar into the air

other than that I like that he'll take off and run when the opportunity presents itself

If 90% of the fans were duped, then so was the press and Riley’s coaching peers.

The narrative when he was hired was how Riley always did more with less and the majority opinion was that if he was put in a place that had all of the tools to win, then he would .   There was hardly a negative word to be said about him from anyone.

We’ve seen the result, and yeah..

    many were fooled.

The "press" are mostly fools with an agenda or just plain ignorant of facts- i.e. the Nebraska Media on this hire and what about the National sports media that still believe we gave out county Scholarships in the 80-90s? Riley was a nice guy so what coach wouldn't go along with the "false" narrative- Erickson actually was the one that did more with less in beaverville- but that doesn't fit the narrative to point that out.

Regardless, I wasn't buying it because I knew the facts- not saying I didn't hope he'd win- but my hopes were a lot like playing the lottery, I knew they wouldn't come true- so it was only a matter of time, and in that respect, Riley exceeded my expectations, because I thought he could sell this snake-oil into 2018

I felt so much better about this program after 2015 and the bowl win.  Even though several games went wrong, we were finally on an upward trend instead of the stalemate purgatory.  No more blowouts, recruiting was going to be better, and all was good.

Then 2016 happened.  We were 7-0 and it didn't even feel good.  Then Wisconsin....then Ohio State.....then Iowa.  I didn't watch the bowl game, hoenstly forgot it was on and had to work.  My interest was at a low it hadn't been at in a long long time.

Then this year.  I again convinced myself that we had made the right adjustments.  Then we started playing football and I immediately lost most of my optimism...again.  I shoved it down, wins a win.  Then we lost to Oregon.  Then to NIU.  That's when I gave up, it was too much.  Since then it's just gotten worse and worse every week.

I don't know who our next coach will be, I just know it needs to be a quality hire we can all be proud of.

don't worry, seems 90% of this board was duped- not sure how because the evidence was always there from the start- Riley was and is exactly who we got - all the hoping and emotional bluster in the world doesn't change the fact that he is a loser. predictable
