  1. OK, So I'm a 90's kid and my first memories are from 95 on really.  Sirius is dear to my heart, and would like to keep it, although, maybe shorten it up somewhat.

With that being said, I also wouldn't mind something new, but no lyrics IMO.  It would need to be "timeless" like Sirius, catchy, have some deep tones, and be "motivating".

Has anyone actually asked players what they like?  I imagine the music is more for fans, but I'd be interested in hearing players opinions, current and former.

  2. Neither are great, but I'd take potentially cold weather, (it sometimes gets north of 70 degrees in November/December) over high humidity for playing football games.  Now if it gets to 0 or below, or you get freezing rain, yuck, but unlikely.

Of note, I'm the kind of person that is still wearing shorts/sandals with a sweatshirt or jacket at 32.

  3. Being competitive/tough.

I want us to win all of the games that we should. (NIU for example)

Be competitive in all of our conference games, and be in contention for the B10 championship every ear.

While doing this, we need to show "Nebraska Class"

Yep....ane he's still at WR where the staff feels he should be.

Had a lot more I intended to say, but started thinking about our talent level vs how we are playing and got frustrated, so I decided to just give praise to JD.

  5. JD Spielman can flat out ball.  Probably would make a pretty good cb, but the kid needs the ball in his hands.  Hopefully he stays at Nebraska and the staff, current or future, can develop him.

I was ran off this board for lobbying for Frost to replace Riley his entire first year. I even emailed all the brass at UNL. Posted my reply from Perlman. Some members came at me pretty hard for it. I didnt post for a year. I just stalked anonymously. ; )

Haha, I probably would have disagreed with you at the time, because I wanted for us to be good so bad.

I'm really curious what Perlman said.

At this point I would be shocked of Riley returned. The only question is does an announcement come before the end of the season that he wont be back.

At this point I wouldn't want Riley to be let go until the end of the season. Moos said he doesn't fire during the season, under normal circumstances.  For him to go back on his word would be off-putting.

For the record I'M hoping for a coach change.

In case anyone is wondering why ADs frequently wait until the end of the regular season to fire a coach, here's Gerry DiNardo's thought in an article by Ralph Russo. It isn't anything groundbreaking, but it's kind of interesting.

    Here is the entire article.

Interesting.  Can't help but think this is what's going on.  I see no real reason to keep Riley other than he is a nice guy, and the players respect him (I assume).  Those Reasons don't win games and don't make money.

  9. Maybe there is a list, or it has been asked before, but is there a list of Previous assistants under HCMR specifically, but even Bo, that have went elsewhere and had good success, or came here having previous success.  I was trying to gauge if the bigger problem came from having assistants that didn't fit, or if the HC was the bigger issue.

Based on what I know, I'd say the HC is the bigger issue, but some blame should be put on assistants.

The question comes originates with what I thought were great hires of the Williams'. I haven't seen the strides with our CB's and receivers as I thought I would.

  10. Assuming HCMR is fired, I hate seeing Nebraska, and him do poorly, and I hate that we have all given him the death sentence, though it is certainly warranted, I would love to see Matt Campbell as our next HC.  Now, I will say, I DON"T know much about him, as most people probably don't.  All I know really is that he is having a good year at ISU, and I listened to his speech after the (I think) TCU game.  I got pumped.  Young guy.  Looks like he may have the "niceness" of Riley with a healthy dab of fire.

I'd be OK with the hire.  I will also go ahead and give Moos support.  If finding a great football coach was easy, AD's and coaches wouldn't be paid big money.

For the record my number 1 choice would be Frost for legit, and fan boy reasons.

I will also still support Riley until he is no longer our head coach.

  11. Maybe the question shouldn't be should we fire Riley now or later, (obviously he is finishing the season), but is Riley staying for another year?  Honestly, him staying scares me a bit.  I've been saying, "next year will be the turning point" since 2004.

Hopefully Moos is enough of a business man to make the hard call correctly.  I'll believe till he gives me reason to doubt.

Edit. @Throw Dem Bones you make some great points.  I agree with you 100%

Our season sucks, and lots of us want something to be excited about.  Searching for a new coach, exciting.  Watching Riley's press conferences after losing, not so much.

  12. Here are my 2 cents.  I won't make it a secret.  I want Riley gone.  Most do.  I'll give Moos the benefit of the doubt about not firing anyone mid-season.  He is smarter than myself.  However my thoughts are:

    1.  I would love to see how our team would re-act  rallying behind an interim hc.  I honestly think it would help our season.

    2.  I think it helps recruiting.  This would be assuming it is a foregone conclusion that he is fired at the end of the season.  It allows us to get a coach in quicker, and start to salvage/work on the recruiting class.

    3.  Slightly different note, but saying that firing a coach for performance related issues after 3 bad seasons  (yes, last year was bad, it was just disguised by wins, as crazy as that sounds) is not the worst thing ever.  People acting like we are firing coaches left and right.  Solich had 6 years, Callahan had 4, Pelini had 7.  Hardly a crazy rate of turn over.  Solich is the most questionable firing imo, but I won't get into that.  I'm not old enough to pretend to be super knowledgeable about it.

I will continue to cheer regardless, however I have little faith that our season can turn around.  (why would I).

I'd take Leach in two seconds.  The majority of our fan base would struggle.  He's a strange ranger.

OMG.  Leach is at the very least hilarious.  If the one percent chance he becomes our HC, at least I'd have some laughs instead of hearing aww shucks.  I like some things I saw out there, I don't like others.  I feel like if I coached 50 more years we would be right in it.
