Assuming it is Frost, what day do all of you think an official announcement would be made?

IMO, if he loses to USF, which could happen, then Sunday or Monday after the last regular season game. I would be shocked if there isn't an offer waiting to be signed by then. If he beats USF then I bet we get a leak about him heading to Nebraska, all parties will deny, and then Saturday night or Sunday after the conference title game he is announced. Don't care when a presser would be, just a deal on the table. The wife will be able to fly her kid to LIncoln via a private plane.

Losing Chip Kelly is not the end of the world. I'm not clear what would really "backfire" here, or why it deserves a good laugh.

    .

Because the AD was dumb enough to allow the Chip and Frost info to leak. Now fans will know if they go with STrong that the AD failed to get his top targets and if Strong struggles the fans will be after Strong to get him fired like they did this year with McElwain. There is a reason why AD's don't want people to know how far down the list they had to go before landing someone.

Basically fans will be pissed from the start and losses will only get them more angry.

You don't want coaching searches to leak. You want firing to hire to go quickly like Texas did with Herman. Everyone was saying Herman to LSU, deal on table, ready to sign, and then BOOM UT comes and less than 24 hours later he is the Texas head coach. Only way you can have a deal done that quickly is to have an offer already sitting on the table agreed in principle.

Here is why this is comical; these are quotes from you in this thread, citing or linking info from message board posters.

    "FWIW....

    http://www.gatorchatter.com/threads/source-chip-kelly-to-be-announced-on-friday.17934/

Yeah...but the most trusted Nebraska poster that I know posted that he has confirmed that there is in fact two way communication between UNL and Frost/Agent."

"The poster that I am talking about attends the meetings with the big wigs and he said it is true about the two way communication. He doesn't have any confirmation that Scott Frost is coming through and I wouldn't expect him to say otherwise without confirmation of it."

"He is the guy where I am getting the DB, DL and WR coaches potentially retained.

No s surprise, but a connected poster on another Nebraska stated  this "He’s at the top of the list and from what I’ve heard it’s a full court press for him. That said there are others on Moos’ short list and quality people available or who will come available." his full post was longer, but that is the imporant part."

"JAV (just a vol) on 247, the most reliable insider for TN on that forum, is saying Chip Kelly to Florida may not happen. Frost to UF isn't going to happen."

"On the free board for RSS people say Scott Frost wants a 7 year deal.

The Florida Rivals insider is saying the contract with Chip is close to getting signed."

"Pm me for a screen shot of the post or go to GatorChatter or gator country.

Folks at GatorCountry have basically written off Scott Frost to Nebraska this afternoon."

"That Florida insider that leaked the McElwain firing on that Friday afternoon/evening said he is hearing Chip Kelly and UF took another push at Scott Frost. He posts reliable info and it makes sense."

"I'm sure if UF is going to be hiring Chip Kelly that it will be this week. Maybe by the middle of the week?

The Florida insider said they tried to get him wrapped up. He was the only guy they were going after. A clear #1 target. Scott Frost wasn't budging. They decided on Wednesday to move on From Scott Frost. They said he wants the Nebraska job. They spoke with Chip Kelly to gather information about Scott Frost during this process. Chip and Florida established mutual interest and they offered him the job (verbally) this week and he accepted. Now starts the process of doing the contract negotiations, lawyer review, etc.

$5.2M offer to Coach Frost according to a post on a Nebraska forum. Others will be able to see it to know if that poster is reliable or not."

"Two Florida sites are saying it is Chip.  He reached out to Florida according to what they are saying. Frost is holding out for Nebraska. Likely to be annouced next week."

So it's fine as long as it fits your opinion/rumor..... But if it doesn't, it's just some random poster and discarded.

However the national media is always right, as long as it fits your opiniom/rumor. But when it doesn't:

"There is a reason why they are coming. The national media has been clueess the whole time."

    Another quote by you.

PS: I think Frost will end up at Nebraska and Chip at UF. But can't wait for Jessica to act like she/he "called it".

I have said since day 1 that Frost is our next head coach. There is no "I called it, you guys suck" crap that you are trying to portray.

And the info I am quote is the most trusted of the info that you can get from the boards, not some stupid random crap that you can find anywhere like you find on RSS. NOtice that I never posted about an 11am conference this morning announcing Chip Kelly...SMH.

What some posters are upset about isn't the info that I share, it is that I am calling them out with their fake info and they are taking it personal for some odd reason.

FLorida = gotta make up a reason we failed to land Scott Frost. can't say he rejected us.

Fake insider = pretend to have had a long conversation with a person of power, now knows all everything Husker football, make outlandish claim, come back later after an article is written and make up fake connections inside UCF.

  5. There is no way on earth that Scott Frost isn't a major target or not even #1 when not just the AD, but also the school President has publicly talked about Scott Frost. So this writer goes to Orlando and basically recaps everything that was already known and puts it all into one article and the Benning uses it for his talking points (he has made it clear how he wants this to go for much longer than a month) and then we suddenly have a thousand insiders posting about him staying at UCF.

My personal favorite rumor over the last 24 hours is a guy on a Nebraska board that once said a few weeks ago that Riley was staying until 2019 (claimed to have had a 2 hour long conversation about it with a person of influence) and now he posts about his insider having a connection (literally) inside the athletic department of UCF and Scott Frost never becoming the head coach at all and for a long time. SMH. My goodness the lengths people go to.

To build on this, these are people who probably would not be happy if the information is leaked. Lets say you had your opportunity at a dream hire/dream coach, but the barrier to get it done was that you had to not talk about it for a month. Would you be able to do it?

I imagine when there is legacy and millions of dollars on the line, folks are able to shut up about it. These aren't obsessed fanboys dropping memes in threads. They don't feel obligated to keep the fans informed. They are people who worked extremely hard to reach where they are in their careers and they're not going to jeopardize that because they're excited.

It is easier to keep things quiet when you are involved. It is when you get people that share stuff in public for ego reasons. Do I believe any of this Peterson talk? Not for a single second. IMO it is simply rehashing what people already know - his complaints about TV times.

My favorite rumor of all of the past few weeks is Scott Frost staying at UCF so he can get them to the Big 12. SMH. I know how conference expansion works at a level much deeper than your average for for reasons I don't care to get into, but that always cracks me up. The only reason why he would stay at UCF is if he doesn't have the desire to compete for it all at the highest level and his former boss at Oregon literally said on the radio (I posted it in this thread) that doesn't see him staying at UCF since is a competitor that will want to compete for it all. But all of those insiders on RSS and all of those insiders leaking info 50 times a day with all of that info that fails logic the majority of the time.

"There is knowledge on the UCF staff that Nebraska is going to make a major offer for Scott Frost, which is not a huge shock. Nebraska is in a very compromised position. They have to get rid of a third year coach in Mike Riley, you have a new Athletic Director in Bill Moos, they've slipped out of national relevance as you know, so they don't have a lot of leverage here whereas Scott has all the leverage. I think this is going to be an offer that will be outside the market that you typically see for a second year head coach at the Group of 5 level. So its going to be a major major offer. I'm not saying he's definitely going to accept it, but there is a belief on that coaching staff that there is a very good chance that Scott is heading home to Nebraska. So we will see what happens, but again Nebraska is poised to make a very strong commitment. No formal contact with UCF, you can't do that when you still have a coach, but it is coming from Big Red."

Where?  Where did he say he had contacts at UCF saying this stuff?

No one knew Bo was getting fired. No one knew Riley was getting hired. No one knew Eichorst was getting fired. No one knew that Moos was getting hired. These people know how to keep their mouths shut.

    Just saying.

But, but, but, all of these people suddenly have insider sources and national guys are to be ignored. The national media kept saying that Nebraska was looking for  P5 AD. THey just didn't nail the name that got hired, but they got the P5 stuff 100% spot on.

    Think realistically about this.

Who's involved in decision to fire Mike Riley, and if he's fired, to replace him?

    How big is that room?

And what kind of dollar figures are we talking about in that process - how many millions?

Then ask yourself - what kind of person is admitted into that room, where millions of dollars are at stake?  People who keep their mouth shut or people who talk a lot?

When you arrive at the latter choice, ask yourself how Adam Rittenberg, who hasn't set foot in Lincoln in weeks and who does not have the confidence of anyone in that room, get information on what decisions are being made in that room?

And when you realize he doesn't have that confidence and they won't tell him anything, and nor will any agent/agent's staff, or any coach, or their families, or anyone involved, ask yourself where Rittenberg is getting that information?  Or random posters on an RSS?

tl;dr - nobody knows what's going on - not RSS posters, not local or national media types, nobody.  Anyone who does isn't talking, because talking means termination.

Adam said he got the info from his contacts at UCF. People can chose to ignore Adam if they want to, but that also doesn't make Adam's info wrong.
