i hope Banker plays with some discipline........i worry about this guy.

Well we've already seen over-thinking and undisciplined defense. Let's try some play fast read and react defense. If it's also undisciplined it still might be more affective than the last few years.

I just hope Banker can adjust when an offense throws a wrinkle at him that he didn't expect. Pelini defenses were like turtles. Flip them on their back with an unexpected wrinkle, and it was game over.

  2. Almost all of these recommendations are guys who don't have any High School coaching experience and/or don't have any relationships with existing High School coaches in Nebraska. They wouldn't be a good fit for the job. Just because someone was a great former player, doesn't mean he's a fit for this job. Just because you played, doesn't mean you can coach or manage a scouting, PR and recruiting operation. Playing is good, but they better have the other skills needed. For those of us that have played and been coached by former "greats"- can attest to that. It doesn't matter what you know as a coach, it matters what you can teach- same goes for managing and recruiting.

    Wow! End of an era.

Not really, there was a time when the Huskers were on KKAR.

When it comes to football, with every game televised, this is not a big deal (other than an FM simulcast), but for the other sports, this is a great move. 590 will air ALL baseball games, including Friday games, and the reach of 590's signal is bigger than that of KFAB's. The only time I ever listen to a Husker football game is in the car and good luck getting KFAB in Des Moines after dark, 590's signal booms in day AND night.

KFAB still had pre and post game shows when KKAR carried the games. Maybe they still will.

A snapshot of how the top two TE have produced at Oregon State and Nebraska over the past five seasons. While its a matter of personnel it could be an indicator of greater production for the position going forward.

  6. Only eight have been officially announced. Noah Johnson supposedly told HuskerOnline that he was walking-on but didn't make the list. Not sure what the story is. Also, the academy guy is rumored to be walking-on as well but hasn't been announced. Not sure if being a "preferred" walk-on has anything to do with any of that or not.

He's on the National Signing Day page on Huskers.com now

    Noah Johnson - LB - 6'0", 195 lbs. - Sutton

In just four games, Johnson has blasted past the 1,000-yard mark. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder has 1,188 yards on just 80 carries. That 14.9 yards per carry and 297 yards per game.

While Johnson revels running past a defender, there's a defiant note of pride when he runs through one.

"When you watch film and see yourself outrunning a kid, it's nice to know you're faster," Johnson said. "During the play, though, I think it's running through someone. That gets you pumped up."

Last week, he scored the first five times he touched the ball. He carried the ball just nine times for 343 yards and six touchdowns, sitting out much of the second quarter and playing only the first series of the second half in Sutton's 56-6 win against Shelby/Rising City.

    LJS

Holds the C-2 record for yards rushing in a season with 2,892 this past year. Holds the 11-man (all class) state record for yards rushing per game at 289.2.

    Huld Highlights

He had over 300 against us the first game of the year. Kid is good. Not shifty at all though. He will end up as a fullback. Guaranteed. Nice frame on him

What is the status on him? He is currently not listed among the Nebraska walk-ons.

Most informative and level headed: McKewon

Most irritatingly positive (loved by some): Sipple

Most irritatingly negative (loved by some): Chatelain

Most entertaining radio: Sharp and Benning

Most annoying radio but with good guests: Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Most missed local guy: Kevin Kugler (glad his career is going well)

    This is a good list.

Thought, I'd argue that the most missed local show has to be Schick and Nick. Call me a dork, but that show was hilarious.

Yeah I once emailed the Schick and Nick show to let them know I didn't like the show initially bit it grew on my like a fungus and I started liking it. Matt emailed back that was the funniest compliment they ever got.

I watched the film of him vs Burbank. It appeared like he was playing against a middle school team. I have concerns he isn't quick enough on his feet to play tackle in the Big 10. Neither did I see many pancakes vs guys 70 pounds lighter than him. He might be effective in a big back, drive the ball down the field offense. I realize he isn't a finished product at this level. He will need some serious coaching.

It's possible that he is playing tackle because he is the best lineman on the team and you put your best players where they can help you the most.

Also, is it common for a LT to be 340 lbs? Seems like that is too much weight for a tackle.

Wisconsin is known for their big beefies on the O-Line and on their two deep at OT are 6-5, 321\6-6, 295\6-6, 303\6-7, 320. At OG they have 6-7,324\6-5, 301\6-5, 317\6-4, 299

So the answer is no, it's not common for a tackle to weigh 340 lbs.
For the record: Scout and 247 have him at 6'6 320 and 6'7 330 respectively.

Found this on the trend in the SEC:
