  1. ..I’m  not going to define or answer this question with a subjective W-L number as many aspects go into the final scoreboard..we in baby steps here..I think a huge tangible, and observable metric is seeing a properly aligned, assigned football team..that breaks down and tac properly, correct angles are once again taken..just seeing a fundamentally sound team take field is a huge step..and the scoreboard will eventually reflect how well the preceding things listed  took place ..

.i missed one day in the series...that’s okay though. I’m glad to have what I have. If your sentimental like I am, or desire memorabilia of historic events, the. this series is probably something you are going to want..

..I’m trying to figure out a display case type project in my wood shop..preserving newspapers is no small task..

  3. Hello,

im hoping to get counsel on the fan day that Husker football has every year. I think that’s what it’s called. Understand, I’m ignorant on all this as I’ve been at FT Bragg for past 22 years in Army and only been able to follow Huskers from afar. I left Nebraska at 19 and just moved and retired in Gretna, Ne. I’m excited to understate, to have opportunity to meet Coach Frost. I’m 42 years old, which allowed me to watch every game He played in. It’s absolutely remarkable that he was on Mr Osborne last team and now the Coach.

i want to get things signed by him. I can’t find info on google about COA with things that are signed on fan day.

Is this day historically been organized well?

Is there enough time to with the long lines to actually get to the tables where coaches are.?

any insight and preferred first hand experience with this “fan day” above and beyond the info I’ve read on Husker.com.

    Thank you

    Nathan

In Frost's national signing day press conference, go to about the 19:00 mark and he flat out says wgen he and his staff got here that the OL has talent, but are fat, weak, and out of shape.  Talked about changing their bodies.

I don't know for certain what players did or did not do in the weight room while Riley was here...

However: 1) given how weak our OL performed last season,

    2) combined with Frost's statement,

    3) with reports cited by another that the same thing occurred while Riley was at Oregon State...

Under Riley, players lifting was optional at best.  And people wonder why most of his teams absolutely sucked.  Now we know.  The sad part is, we had to suffer through his incompetent suckage.  Thanks for nothing .500.

Lot of discussion about physique in this thread earlier.  Quote from Frost at today's press conference:

Hum...coach says same thing i said.now why don’t you select few, speech police, jump all over him with your wisdom..he said same thing I said..

  6. I posted a picture of our fat, weak, and out of shape Offensive lineman..and how they play EXACTLY like they look...and folks came out of woodwork about my post..jumping all over the premise of it..

...Hum..Mr Frost recently observed and said SAME thing I did..so you folks who lack cerebral thought and like to argue anything..go ahead and message th coach and tell him your wisdom,as you did to me..

“I like the talent we have up front, I really do.... “We’ve got to change their bodies. The Nebraska I knew and the strength and conditioning and what was expected of them, and what kids look like physically. That’s not really what we’re walking back into..

“I think we got guys on the team that can be great offensive linemen, but we've got to go to work in the weight room, we’ve got to cut our body fat, eat right, we’ve got to get stronger, we’ve got to get in better shape.”

No, there's almost no conclusion you can draw beyond circumstantial posturing. It's a clumsy take.

If we're going to talk about the importance of S&C in general and Nebraska's need to get back to a dominant o-line, have at it. If we're going to post pictures of players and make inane statements about their muscle composition, then this thread is heading for a swift lock. Time to make a choice.

So you now part of speech police..you are the approval authority of a discussion..have you been informed what a narcissist is.?

  8. ...the premise the OP put forth has been proven to me and since I saw similar results in perhaps 400 plus other soldiers, I can conclude the general premise is objectively true, I spent 22 years in a profession that required insane volumes of repetitive compound movements, and training goal was to build muscle memory, which is also a very is a real thing.l.i suppose first clarity I should define the terms and these words are oft defined and understood  differently as these concepts pertain to the insane complexity of Mankinds body..anyways the idea is that under stress, the brain can be disengaged, in a sense, form ones body, bypassing the critical thought process..allowing lightning fast reaction times..

  9. ..”best” is way to broad...the terms must defined to make good reply...however I suppose I tilt to Osborne...and that’s trying my dead level best to drop every bias and predisposed opinion...I say Osborne because of the peculiar effect he had on the team...every player I heard do interviews would be talking about Osborne in first 3 minuets..he had a permanent affect on players...I don’t hear players from 1-20 years ago that played on saben teams talk about his impact on their entire life than Osborne’s players...it is Osborne, it always Osborne that all the men in program flocked to..Osborne is a Christian man, a man of biblical values..that’s not lost on people..they gravitated to him..and trusted him...”trust” is understatement...Saben runs a business it seems..and Osborne ran a family that happened to play football ...Osborne knew full well the power of servitude leadership style..and it wasn’t a gimmick..that’s his nature and it always is the most effective in building relationships in organization..

  10. ...I’m persuaded he will be introduced to football on kick offs..I would think it would take perhaps 2 years to train a individual in football skills to responsibly let him take the field...he must show demonstrated ability to defend himself through all possible football scenarios. Having just retired from Army Special Forces and working with Seal teams in OEF, there are similiar attributes between the two units...with that, I’m inclined to think his general ability to apply head knowledge into action  is way above average...so I suspect he could possible see field this year..

Thats cool. Still can't draw any conclusions from pictures and there is absolutley no way to say that strength training was the issue with our offensive line. I don't think anyone will disagree great lineman equal better football teams, but trying to deduct a linemans skill level and strength based off of pictures is ridiculous. Drawing conclusion on our coaches gameplan intentions from a picture is even more ridiculous.

.no conclusion or connection from pictures to field play..? Really..? The pictures absolutely reflect gameplay..sloppy, lazy, attitude..ect

I feel bad ... living rent free in your head like this.

You are waaaaaay over-reaching here.  I think people complaining about the lack of toned abs on our OLine are just looking to complain about something.  There is plenty to complain about without resorting to that type of thing.

All I did was ask for someone to point out what I was wrong about.  So far no one has.  :dunno

...well okay, you asked what you were “wrong about “...the “toned abs”...nobody except you brought this up...and the premise of post had nothing to do about toned abs..it was the glarining poor muscle/fat composition...and manifested by zero push on the field..they know snap count and get beat to the point of attack..or a

Purdue 259 defensive end pushes  flips one of 300+ fat boy linemen into the QB -RB handoff area and then proceeds to knock him straight on his butt...(pancake)..

    Well, good luck to him.

Is it just my perception or have we had more than our share of supposedly high ranked (high for us anyway) recruits that just really haven't contributed much by the time they leave? Newell, Gates, DPE come immediately to mind. I've never followed recruiting very closely and this is a big reason why but it just seems like we haven't had much luck with our higher ranked recruits. I would tend to blame the lack of player development under our last 2 coaches or is it just a string of bad luck on something that amounts to little more than hit or miss?

I think your perception is reality in regards to player development...I suppose there is objective proof in this premise..senior linemen on the pine and underclassmen on the field..something is always amiss when vast amount of seniors sitting on bench..that’s a indication of many problems..

  14. ...I look to to one 2 position groups in trying to determine who gets the win..as usually these two groups determine score board..and that the big men. The O and D lines..and I just don’t see the amount of improvement that’s required to go past 7-5..and that’s optimistic..they must unlearn everything, lean again, somehow get a new mind that has some aggression in it, get incredibly stronger and quicker, lose 20 pounds,..and I could go on..that’s a tall task in just one spring and fall cycle...5-7 is certainly possible..poor big men play..= destruction

I guess you'll have to explain to me what I'm wrong about.  People have long been complaining about the lack of toned abs of our linemen.  That's nothing more than wanting to complain about something.

Man you keep saying “complain”..however ever comment I read of yours is divisive in nature, argumentive and just generally not desirable to read..you appear to take some moral high ground , however it is so littered with hypocrisy...you the pot calling kettle black in the way you come off..which delegitimizes  all you say..

    People just love to nitpick

...compete offensive line failure is nitpicking..? Hum..those 5 fellas usually determine what the scoreboard looks like., well, to clarify, both O and D linemen oft determine the score board..I’ve seen it over and over how great big men cover up allot of other team weaknesses...2009 husker defensive line is good object example..it was a shame Our offense was a failure, that defense line was THE reason we won games that year..when you take away ALL the inside runs and get pressure with only 4 lineman, it opens up havoc on that offense.

Well considering that Alabama's line pushed defenders around and Nebraska's line got pushed around by defenders, it stands to reason that they are a stronger group.  The picture is just further evidence of that.  Conjecture would be saying that not a single one of our linemen would have started at Alabama this year, although it's probably an opinion that most people would agree with.

..well stated..anyone that have somewhat good vision could clearly see Alabama o line would get the push..and quick enough to win at point of attack..

Saben saw first hand the requirement of powerful linemen, as his Michigan State team got pummeled in 1995 by huskers... He since took action.

this is one of his fellas... looks like a husker throwback.. what differernce between

    Uhhhhhhh, yeah.

That picture is a reflects the outcome of 3 things IMO, no locker room (player) internal accountability, coach accountability and individual accountability.. it has to start with the individual, it takes discipline to forge ones body.. their bodies are a reflection of their attitude and their play on field nailed how transparent that systemic organizational issues were.. that kind of fat is preventable and it’s horroble weight ... they can’t dial up a pulling linemen play when you have fat, weak and slow bodies like this..

    Where is that proof exactly?

..the proof was in their inability to drive forward.. it was a hike, stand up, and backpeddle scheme.. run blocking is altogether different.. it’s violent..the staff didn’t practice run blocking to any measurable extent, and players WILL do what they practice..

  21. ...I was so blessed to be of age to watch these teams in real time...MR Frost was on these teams and knows full well what the locker room needs to be full of-insane maniacs between the whistles. He saw the type of systems and practice ideology..after 17 years now, I finally have hope in Husker football. The boosters and everyone else needs to leave coach alone to build program..I don’t really care if he goes .500 in next 2 years..in long run he WILL get it done..IMO

look at the composition of these men..compared to mike Reilly teams..these men reflect a absolutely successful weightlifting program..the linemen on roster now have chicken legs..get these men back to Olympic lifts..and a leader within the team needs to step up and police the lazy players..

number 67 has oak trees for legs..Look at technique of them getting low and driving forth..oh I miss this

Tell you what...let's both go watch a squash match and give commentary afterwards.  We'll attend with someone who coaches squash for a living.

Which one of us 3 will probably have better insight as to whether or not a squash player is good or not?

I'm not saying everyone has to coach...I am saying coaches know better than board posters.  I'm also saying board posters are more often wrong than right when it comes to this topic due to most of us having an untrained eye.

...my “untrained eye” saw every single starter get pancaked multiple plays, multiple games..and my untrained eye sees fat hanging over pants..no thighs or glutes..thus, while knowing the snap count, get hit by opposing D line instead of initiating contact..
