  1. I'm convinced that if our OL played better and we established a running game that didn't feature QBs as the leading rusher 2018 AM would come back. He doesn't trust the guys around him and it messes with his head.

The CoachWhisperer idea is funny. Just hire that guy. It's as bad an idea as bringing in assistants to fix the head coach's glaring deficiencies. It's not like he's doing charity work.

Perhaps one day UNICEF will get into NCAA football coaching, but until that day comes we should expect the guy we pay $5 mill to get the job done.

Urban Meyer wouldn't touch the Husker head coach job with a 10 foot pole. Maybe he'd be a consultant, but even that's doubtful.

Trust, entitlement and mismanagement.  It was a great 7 minutes.  Listening to it, he described NU's problems to a T.  Almost like he was talking about us and not UM/PSU.......We are a mucked up team right now. Top to bottom and left to right....

It'd be huge to have him come in a review our program and give some "fixes".  I think his incite would be invaluable....

Urban seems to have a soft spot for Nebraska. I wish they'd find a way for him to consult a coach like that could help Frost fix a lot I think.

  4. Urban Meyer talked about the three reasons that good teams underperform and it was all about trust. And that's glaringly obvious with this team.

The coaches don't trust their players which is why the play calling is screwed up and less talented guys start. The coaches don't trust them not to make mistakes for obvious reasons.

I'm not sure if the players trusting the coaches is a problem, but the departures suggest it is.

Finally, the players don't trust each other at all. QBs don't trust their OL or WRs. Defenders don't trust guys to be in the right spot.

I don't know how you fix it, but every issue Urban mentioned Nebraska has and until the trust issues get better nothing else matters.

  5. Frost should be further along now than he is. However this program was always more than a three year restart. It was a dumpster fire in 2017 and is slightly less of one now. It was a 5 year rebuild best case.  We flushed the easy restart down the toilet with the Riley hire. You get a new coach now it's gonna be 5+ more at a minimum and that's assuming you can find a decent coach who would take over after we fire the guy who has had more leniency than anyone. Very few coaches who could have success here would take the job if any. We hitched our wagon to Frost in 2018 and our only choice is hoping he gets us where we want to be.

I just don’t believe this anymore in 2020. With the portal and juco’s to fill holes it doesn’t have to be an issue.

Oh I don't disagree with that. Between the recruits we've got and three years to work with guys it shouldn't be a problem. The lack of upper class men in the OL is a problem, but one we need to fix by now.

I just don't see any improvement in our offensive line. I see lots of improvement in our D line, though. Jaimes is good and Benhart is pretty good - but as a unit, we're bad.

You can argue that guys like Matt Farniok & Boe Wilson just aren't enough to work with from a talent perspective, maybe. And I'm thinking that over the off-season there will be lots of people that make that very argument, giving Austin a pass.

But our O-line is just as bad this year as it was last year. We have a Center who ruined three drives with bad snaps. What in the actual f***?

I don't think it's a coincidence that 2018 was by far our best OL and AM and the offense looked the best that year. Best RB play that year too. Riley's lack of OL recruits and our inability to develop what we have so far is brutal. Plus too many young RBs.

  8. If you're in the fire Frost or fire the majority of assistants camp I hope you're ready for more years of suck if that happens.

There is not a scenario where we fire a lot of people and come out next year with a winning record. You're now reteaching these kids again.

This isn't the type of team where changing assistants or head coaches makes a lick of difference in 2-3 years.

I agree with your reaction if this were year 1 or 2 of a new staff.  We are in Year 3 and are seeing no signs of improvement and we have actually regressed from the first 2 years.  Doubling down on incompetent coaching is a recipe for more years of ineptitude.

So we fire everyone and reset again? That's worked so well for 20 years now.

Luke's fielded his share in a short amount of time back there too.  As a coach I don't know how you do that to not only your qb's but your team letting bad snaps on offense to just continue.

Ya it doesn't seem to get in Luke's head like it does to AM.

Shocking.  The fact that Jurgens has been allowed to go on as long as he has with the snaps is just plain terrible.

Funny how that works, when lunging for a wildly errant snap isn’t part of the play.

I think it's also a trust thing. AM doesn't trust Jurgens to get the snap right so even when it's good he's off.

Adrian can make all the throws, he has the yips. Luke can make none of the throws that Adrian just did on that drive.  I don't like the QB swapping, leave Martinez in to try and get rhythm but put Luke on the field with him at RB, or at WR.

I swear AM looks totally different without Jurgens in the game. He doesn't trust his center and I think that's killing him. That is the most important trust position on the team.

I agree with Luke too. Get him back in the game like he was bs tOSU.

  13. Some of you just need to avoid the pressers and the presser threads because I don't think anything these guys say could make you happy. Most of these quotes are taken out of context with the question or the rest of what the person said. For example, the mustache comment that got so many people's panties in a wad sounds a lot different if you listen to the actually presser. These guys are making crap up on the spot to answer questions from the press it should all be taken with a grain of salt. If you are so on the edge that a presser comment can send you off then just avoid these for a while. You'll be a happier person.

I don't know how to judge quality experience. Either you've played in games before or you haven't. The talent argument I agree with you.

AM's problem is mental and also I would argue play calling. I thought it was wrong to change starters and unfortunately, the past two games have done nothing to prove that the change was a good one. I hope Frost goes back to Adrian and starts using RBs to run the ball. That should hopefully take some heat off the QB. Also wouldn't hurt to unleash a deep ball a few times a game towards one of our receivers that can fly.

We definitely have to throw it deep once in a while. If it's third and long in the middle of the field just send two WRs down the sideline and tell AM or Luke to just let it rip and see what happens. Worst case it's an interception and a punt, but the DC has to at least consider that and best case you hit a long pass and now the DC really has to think about it.

  15. You can't judge our OC yet because he's barely been able to work with the kids. No spring and then limited summer and a screwed up fall schedule I don't think you can see what his full impact will be yet. Also, for that matter, I think our WRs have looked better this year than last we just aren't getting them the ball when we need to..

That being said basically anyone else on the staff I think is fair game for criticism or changing. Dawson and Ruud might be safe to keep around as I think our LBs have improved this year from last. Doesn't mean they are great, but there is improvement. Tuioti on the DL seems to develop well, but I think we need to see how his recruiting plays out.

Held and Fisher are probably ok because of recruiting, but I think we really need to look at Mario, Beckton, and Austin.

I noticed this during the game.  It's a little hard to tell from this angle but it sure doesn't look like there's anyone within 20 yards of Betts.  Frost mentioned missing open receivers post-game.

There was similar play in the first half with Wan'Dale. It might have even been on one of the interceptions he threw. He threw it underneath to a double covered receiver and Wan'Dale was headed down the sideline just wide open. It was likely a TD if he hits him. I'll see if I can find a video of it.
