Beck's playing calling scares me. With a bye, I sure hope that he has a decent game plan and is willing to improvise if necessary. Talent-wise, I think Nebraska over Wissy. I sure hope that we're not out-coached, though.
-
Does anyone seriously think that we should be ranked #11 in the nation? Besides Drew Sharps hard-on for Florida State, I don't disagree that Nebraska should be ranked #15-#20. If we beat Wissy, Minny and Iowa, then I would say "yes", we're top 10; but, until then, we're over-ranked (IMO).

If you've watched Nebraska play football this year, you have every reason to be concerned about every game.
And rematches have a way of going differently.
Which could also be good in our case.
Anything could happen and I wouldn't be surprised, but I'm noting that this Husker team has yet to put together a complete game this season, and rooting for the possibility that this is that game.

AFter the tOSU game and after reading all the message boards calling for Pellini's head, I thought that the Huskers would collapse like they did in Callahan's last year. I thought that we would be looking for a new coach about this time. Now, no one wants Pellini to leave. Go figure. We're such fickle fans.

With the addition of Rutgers and Maryland next year the divisions are obviously going to change.
But I don't think we have to remain standard in their formations and how they play out.
I believe that the B1G looking to take the conference to another level, and here is how I'd like to see it play out.
2 Divisions (East/West) Legends and Leaders, I don't really care anymore.
4 sub divisions of three teams a piece
2 float teams (last years division winners)
West 1
Wisconsin
Iowa
Minnesota
West 2
Northwestern
Michigan State
Illinois
Nebraska Floats (assuming 2012 division winners)
East 1
Michigan
Rutgers
Purdue
East 2
Maryland
Penn State
Indiana
Ohio State Floats (already determined 2012 division winners)
The way I would like to see it. Is the Division winners should play each other week 1 a "true" neutral site, and then would play all teams who finished 3-10 during the last season.
Each conference schedule should be created just prior to the season starts. Non-con remains the same.
The bottom feeders will have the easiest schedules to play to promote the most teams possible making them bowl eligible.
Each team play the two teams in their sub division first, two in each of the other sub divisions totaling 8 conference games.
The home and away games would be determined only by where you played that team last.
There are obviously lots of other issues with doing it this way, but its a thought
I like the notion of the two division winners squaring off. But I think the bolded part would cause all sorts of logistics problems. Probably insurmountable logistics problems.
Just slide Wisconsin over to the Legends division. Add Maryland and Rutgers to Leaders. Stop the cross rivalry game with PSU. Done.

Well, the fact that they just semi-joined the ACC seems to refute your argument
Not at all. ND semi-joined the ACC for basketball. ND won't ever join a conference for football. - J
-
I don't think ND will ever join the B10. They want to remain independent....it's part of their tradition...their alum wouldn't stand for ND to join a conference for football. So, I don't think that there is anything bigger. The B10 wants to expand it's market base....it's as simple as that. I think it sucks, though. I like the way the B10 conferences are set-up and the match-ups. Maryland and Rutgers would screw that up.

That letter is l o n g!!
Barker must have been pretty irate to have sent it. I'm sure that Kill is probably an @ss, but aren't the majority of D1 football coaches? Oh well, Gophers loss...he was their best offensive weapon and can go to any D1 school football program and play next year because he is a walk-on.

Nebraska 41
Gophers 13
Gophers are REALLY good at scoring 13 points this year.
NU - Rushing 270
NU - Passing 230

There are Blatchford haters? Weird.

Well, you certainly can't attribute our losses this year to the offense. And you can't come back from double-digit deficits like we have this year without a decent offense. I think Beck is doing a stand-up job.
so when the defense held UCLA to 3 points in the 2nd half, and the offense couldn't manage anything other than a field goal and giving UCLA 9 extra points in the last 25 minutes of the game...that was still entirely on the defense?
I see your point. I was just thinking 30 points in the game wasn't too shabby. It's not like we couldn't move the ball in that game.

Just picking a random thread to put this in. Watch Gholston tackle Abdullah. I know it's good to knock out the RB whether he has the ball or not, but I've always wondered how dumb they feel when they look up and the dude with the ball is 50 yards away. Or does he feel all manly for tackling someone 150 pounds lighter than he is?
eh... we had a DL that used to do stuff like that
Wow. Now THAT is the zone read run to perfection. That play causes D-coordinators to pull their hair out.
Yeah, you (DC) have to account for everyone and the guy that's the most important on the play is the one that's unblocked!
Not to poo-poo that play....but look at that block that Reeves through down at the 50 yard line. Fortunate that a penalty wasn't called. If a penalty gets called, then we wouldn't be talking about the play.

You'd think that I'd been around enough Husker games to know this by now.....
Going to the Southern Miss game next week and have a Parking pass for lot #20. Is that for parking only? Or is do they allow sufficient space to set-up a shelter and grills, like the spots near the bridge? Thanks in advance for information.

I have the BTN on dish. Had to upgrade to 120+ channels plus get their sports package. In all, it's costing me an additional $12 per month. Just curious, what level of service from DirectTV do you need and how much does that level of service cost per month?

Fresno and @ Minnesota....hopefully, another home game, as well.

So, i applied for and received approval for a specialty plate...mostly because I think that the new Nebraska plates are dorky. Anyway, I'm a huge Husker fan but still have loyalty to my native state - Minnesota. My license plate reads "MN GO4S". I was thinking that a bunch of posters on this board have specialty plates, as well. What's yours?

I love the Coen Brother movies.
BEST
Fargo - Awesome. One of my all-time favorites. Great dark comedy....Great heroine.
Big Lewboski - The dude. Takes life day to day. What a great character.
Burn After Reading - In my opinion, the most under-appreciated Coen brothers movie.
No Country For Old Men - I was like "what? you're ending it like that?" Then, I realize the genius of the story.
Raising Arizona - Some people despise Nicolas Cage films. But this film is definitely one of his best. Holly Hunter is awesome, too, Great comedy.
EH
The Man Who Wasn't There
Blood Simple
Barton Fink
Miller's Crossing
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
WORST
Simple Man - way too metaphorical.
Lady Killers - embarrassingly horrible. The Coen Brothers got too cutesy with this remake, IMO.
Can't Wait to see True Grit. Previews look awesome. Big fan of the original.

"Bitch slap Dan Beebe"...classic. All that's missing is Dan's sorry mug shot.
Which is better, a 4, 8 or 16 team playoff?

I wouldn't mind a few more years with four teams. I could see the conferences shifting to align themselves to have teams get into the final four. TCU, for instance, probably would have got in if it weren't for the fact that the B12 doesn't have a conference championship. Notre Dame will always be on the outside looking in unless they get into a conference. I'm just saying that four teams kind of forces teams and conferences to be become more competitive....no team is going to waltz into the final four without having done battle with top quality opponents.
Eventually, I think that eight teams would be ideal. However, I would like teams to get into the playoffs by winning conference championships. Screw the polls.
