Last year we were blitzing because of futility from the d-line. Today, we were blitzing because the d-line was holding its own and there was confidence in the secondary playing man. Granted, not a great opponent to get a good measure from but all three levels played about as well as we could hope for.

Is it just me or does Adrian seem like he's trying too hard to say the right thing, be composed, be "unflappable." The kid needs to be loose and who he is. Stop thinking "what should I say here, what would a leader's demeanor be?"
It's not explicit...but I just get this read he is overthinking and working to be what Scott wants vs. just being himself which Scott is good with.
Last year it was not his team. He played loosely. He looked fast and mobile. This game he looked slow, tentative, uncertain. And then he says he's playing fast or all out? Because that's true or the right thing to say?
It will be interesting to see what they come out of through film study.
He definitely came across like he had a little too much of a coaches mentality as opposed to that of a player. Something about this clip definitely seemed off for him. Maybe he's a little bit overwhelmed with the leadership role he has and was emulating Frost as opposed to being himself.

At some point in the season, we are ranked 6th or higher.

93 was a funny year. We didn't dominate anybody, but won them all. Almost to a person, nobody expected us to beat FSU and we were all kind of surprised that we outplayed them. It was kind of like 95 in the fact that during the season we really didn't have a grasp on how good the team was. If Bennett had made the last second field goal, yeah we would have won the title but I don't think anybody would be saying that team was in the discussion for GOAT. 82, otoh, probably would be. It was the most balanced, complete team from Lincoln that didn't win a title.

I doubt it. Defensively we would have essentially the same players and Diaco calling the shots. That doesnt bode well. Offensively we would be completely different system-wise, but last year wasn't as productive as this year has been. Turnovers and penalties might be marginally better, but I doubt by enough to make a difference.

By "fumble issues" you mean he fumbled once? You seem to be exaggerating what has happened.
"Kinda slow" compared to what? Because he's definitely not slow compared to Oz.
Thus far, Bell just looks like a slightly better version of Wilbon. Too early to really pass judgement on him and I'm sure he has a lot of potential, but if I (and the coaches apparently) had to choose between the 2 its an easy decision.

McKewon has always commented about Ozigbo that he’s easier to tackle in the first 5 yards than he is downfield. Oz is pretty good in open space when he can get the big body moving forward. Where he struggles most is getting going and finding a hole if it’s not there initially.
He's a lot like Imani Cross, but better.

good admission......a lot of folks said he was too slow and wouldn't get many touches or be a factor......the kid reminds me of Cory Sleschinger (sp), I touted the kid before the season started, he has always been a brusier, Riley just never saw his potential.
Right there with you. I predicted he would be our #1 back after the spring game just based on the fact that he is a great changeup style player to compliment Spielman, Morgan, etc.

People that are saying D. Young needs to sit must not be paying attention much. He is currently tied with A. Williams for 2nd on the team in tackles with 25. Mo Barry is leading with 37.
Young might not be the fastest or the flashiest but he get stuff done and will end his career as one of the top tacklers in school history.
His tackle stats are a product of being an LB in this system. The issue with him is how often he is out of position.

Spielman is anything but weak and he was a Riley recruit.

Just for clarification, both Davis twins and Morgan were Pelini recruits and Ozigbo was pursued by both the Pelini and Riley staffs.

Devine has been the best back in the program for awhile. I'm glad Frost has figured it out too.
(Except for the 2 games Bryant went off)
This. I dont want to sound like I'm bagging on Bell, but I have no clue why he was considered the first choice in a 1st string tie. Ozigbo does everything that Bell does but better. Washington is a different style of back so he probably should be a solid #2 but I honestly cant see why we would ever go with Bell over Zig.

He got really frustrated on one of his carries and kicked a tackler after the play. Could have been a personal foul but it went unnoticed by the refs. Probably sat out the rest of the game because he was too emotional.

Okie St in 2007.

Probably going to be necessary to turn Jurgens into a lineman with how little depth we have. Also need to look at moving the Utah transfer back to o-line, as the d-line has enough depth for next year.

Kiffin tweets about other teams way more than he tweets about his own.

But when it comes to QBs, Nebraska has had some real busts in recent years.
2009 Cody Green
2011 Jamal Turner
2011 Bubba Starling
2013 Johnny Stanton
2016 Patrick O'Brien
2017 Tristan Gebbia
Used 247sports.com for rankings references.
It started way before 2009. Carl Crawford (granted he went to MLB), Curt Dukes, Harrison Beck to name a few. If you really want to get depressed just go back and count the number of HS quarterbacks we recruited since 1999 that didnt last 4 years here.

MSU has a better coach now than they had with Mullen so Im not surprised

There's a guy playing right next to him that isn't buying in, and its pretty obvious.

Looks like 47 goes inside between Farniok and Farmer. Their DT sees the jumble and goes left. Both Farniok and Farmer fail to hit anything, but each other. Not sure if they even saw the guys. Looks like Farmer at least took a proper angle.
Might be because they scouted us a little better than we scouted them. Brown is in year 4, Frost in game 2. Brown has his kids, full scheme available and his kids are all in and proficient in it. I'm assuming we have honestly installed our complete O, but unsure how proficient we are and how much Bunch was actually running.
Our offense was not anywhere near completely installed on saturday. We only saw the playbook for about 4 series in the 3rd and 4th quarter, everything else was design plays. I could probably count on 1 hand the number of play-actions and post snap RPOs for the whole game.

It looks worse than it was. The cut blocks werent good, but bunch still had time to get the ball out and hesitated. Not sure what was happening with the receiver here but that looked to be a quick pattern to me.

Both players and the ball came together at the same time. They didn't call it because it wasn't coverage and neither player attempted to make a play on the ball, so PI could have gone either against us or against them if it had been called.
