Put down the tomatoes, don’t throw them at me. I drank the koolaide by the gallon this summer and still have some leftovers in my fridge that I sneak off and drink sometimes. I love this coach, and each week I love this team more and more. So hear me out. Even I’ll conceed that OSU outclasses us enough at this point in the season that we probably can’t compete this year.   But that’s not true for the other 6.  It’s going to take injury luck and continued improvement each week. But if we can find a way to snag a win this weekend, take one game at a time, view it as championship weekend every week with a bowl game up for grabs, it could happen still. If we can beat NW, then we should be able to matchup with the likes of Minnesota and Iowa as well. Bethune and Illinois are the easiest W’s left, obviously, so if we can keep focus and not pull the traditional “NU forgets to show up,” thing, those go our way.  That leaves MSU, which haven’t looked unstoppable imo. If you can find a way to play that game above you heads a bit, again, knowing the postseason lies on the other side, it’s not unreasonable. This weekend is huge. May be the last great chance at gigantic direction change for 2018.

  2. The refs wouldn't be able to make us win a game if they tried, and they certainly are not making us lose games.  I get pissed at them too.. but officiating is being vilified in all sports world wide from the NBA to soccer to tennis to the NCAA etc and always has been.

We need sound reasoning as to our plight of having become the joke of the Big 10, and perhaps of NCAA football in general.  Even people on the Missouri Tiger board are expressing shock (along with a bit of glee) at what's happened to our program up here.

i keep trying to come up with this or that real reason, and I keep reading around for insight.  The ref thing has to be about the thinnest of all as to reasons.

  3. Wisconsin was 7.7 yards per rush.   We did our usual non-defense and they took what they needed at will, generally.

Our 3 for 10 on third down conversions was sick.. although we seemed to do better on other downs thanks to Martinez.

The damned defense is losing our games.  All of them.

...0-12 isn't that different then 4-8 on paper or on film...

I don't think many people feel that way.   I HOPE not many people feel that way.

Please people, don't feel that way.

with a name like Huskerbar.com it should include the largest Husker Alumni sponsored bars in Southern California, or AT LEAST ONE of the half dozen in the OC-LA area

    what a crock site

California doesn't count.  You know that.

  6. 1.  Martinez doesn't throw more than one interception

    2.  The defense has fewer than three penalties

    3.  The penalties the defense does get are not at important times in the game

    4.  Special teams has practiced long and hard and will actually behave like football players

    5.  The entire team wants to shock the s#!t out of us all

FIFY.  None of the transfers went to a University at or above Nebraska's level, so I don't get what you are struggling with.

The are three are examples I just don't understand using for whatever argument you are trying to make.  It is illogical and I showed as much above.

Also, 7 of your examples are QB and we have discussed ad nauseum on this board about the 50% national average for QB transfers.

Wealth of real info and logic for a short post.  Thanks for that.

  8. Speaking of the PA (and the big screen and the fireworks and the ads).  It's.Never.Going.To.Stop.

The place is like an event that attempts to make the game about the third thing down the line in attention and importance.

New guy from Scottsbluff behind me two years ago:  "What's all this for?"  How do you tell a guy to ignore something that is too loud to even let you say something without shouting?

How precious the few quiet times between the blaring announcements and strange presentations of people (like me) who did their military service and were done with it (yes proudly, but just like any other job:  why brag about it let alone have an announcer brag about you to 90 thousand people at a sports event?  Let it go, guys).

And the "music."  Let the band play music.  All of it.

Not going to happen.  I know.
