  1. So are you guys saying that the big 10 does it right? Did TO and BD do it wrong since they had more players and looser requirements? I just fear the big 10 will have to have a lot of thing right and get lucky to have a champion again.

By handicapping ourselves we are essentially decreasing our odds of becoming relevant.

I love all of those things you mentioned about the B1G. If those things put us at a disadvantage, so be it.

You know TO used a lot of "partial qualifiers"  that were really good players on his best teams.

  3. One thing about the B1G that bothers me is the "loser" mentality compared to other conferences. The conference puts itself in a disadvantage where it is harder to compete. For example what Michigan did in baseball is considered a miracle due to the conference self appointed recruiting restrictions. Also most other conferences over-sign but the B1G restricts that as well, more conference games, higher academic requirements, etc all put every school in the B1G at a disadvantage.

It seems the B1G thinks they are "too good" to do what everyone else is doing and makes it harder to compete. Even the big 10 network doesn't push for it's teams to get into the playoff when they have legitimate claim (PSU, WI, OSU have been passed by other teams with same losses by the committee and the B1G didn't put up much of a fight) like all the other networks do. It could be that the conference always wanted to go to the rose bowl as it's prime goal but I think the attitude needs to change if it wants to have long term success.

The money is great for the schools but the self appointed restrictions will make winning championships even more difficult.

I'm not sold that Fields is going to be a good pro-style, college QB.  He may be ''good'' in that he may be able to gain yards and scores running the ball, but that isn't ''pro-style'' to me.  Still, we had to take him because he is probably better than what we had in the pipeline.  Tate Martell was another one of those running QB's that Meyer loved so much who was no longer a fit at tOSU.  Right now, we have commitments from the #2 pro-style QB for 2020 and the #5 for 2021.

I was never a fan of Meyer's offenses, although it was fine when we were winning.  I thought they were gimmicky.  My belief is to recruit GREAT pro-style players and run a pro-style system.  The top talent wants to play in that type of a system in order to be ready for the NFL.  As well, the way to beat Bama, Clemson, etc. is to have a GREAT quarterback that can drop back and throw dimes across the field to streaking receivers or pitch it to the all-world back that can take it to the house.  The QB should be a distributor and NOT a jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none.  Mediocre teams need to put their best athlete at QB so that the ball is in his hands all the time.  Great programs shouldn't have to do that.

Ummm, Meyer has had the most prolific offenses, a pro style would be a step back IMO. Pro style may be the way in the NFL but in college spread is easier to implement. I still think Day will do great but it's very unrealistic to think he'll have the same success as Meyer.

These things are more or less just a business industry. Some smart entrepeneurs found a way to become beneficiary middle men, and once enough people were doing it everyone decided they had to because everyone else was doing it.

We've been doing this exact training since at least 2012.

I imagine the cost is well over 6 figures for them to come out... Hope it returns some positive gains this year!

Defensively is where they get interesting. They made their year 1 jump on that side. It’s usually the easier side to quick fix, but they had a sizable amount of roster turnover from year 1 to year 2 and saw a pretty big slip. Recruiting has been good there, though, so it’ll be interesting to see how a more talented but younger roster can do.

Purdue is a bit of a mystery to me. I had a really good insight into them year 1, so year 2 went how I thought (better play, but similar record). This year, I don’t know. Brohm has done a remarkable job, the university has seriously ramped up their support, their east side schedule is even more favorable than ours...but they get little hype. I think everyone is in a holding pattern where they want to believe, but Purdue has to play more consistent.

We’ll see on QB. I don’t see Sindelar playing all season.

The way their year ended with the annihilation from auburn and losing 5 of their last 6 probably puts the dampers in peoples minds. Auburn called the dogs at half, they could have scored 100 if they wanted. They peaked in their win over ohio state.

Yeah, but the players are allowed to take prescription pain medications?

Yes, the combination of politics and medicine/pharma push for meds make most natural treaments less accessible while drugs/treatments with bad side effects are given. MJ is supposedly good for lowering pain and decreasing healing time.

But anyways these kids have to get better at smoking incognito. If they're going to do it they need to be more discreet.

  8. isn't paraphernalia things like a pipe, bong, etc. It looks like no drugs were found which is good. Very minor issue, though the fact that he was likely smoking mj with all his other issues shows signs of questionable decision making. I don't think anything will come of it. Hope he channels all his issues into becoming a beast on the field. Sky's the limit for Mo, the only thing that can hold him back is himself

  9. So I'm going with a friend that lives in Denver. My brother and another friend want to come with but won't be sure they will be able to go for a few more weeks. Looks like tickets on stubhub are about 240 after fees. Should I buy a few or do you guys think they'll be lower in a few weeks.  Prices seem a bit high, maybe we'll tailgate and watch the game near the stadium

  10. First Post, Saw this on YouTube and got excited about what Martinez and Frost can do. They appear to run a lot of the same plays/concepts and I think Martinez is just as skilled as Mariota but Oregon may have been more stacked at skill position than our current roster. I feel like NU is going to light up some defenses in the near future.

  11. Hi first time poster, I don't think Gameday is ideal until we show we can show up for a big game. We've seriously choked and been blown out every big game for a long time.

FYI I was on Huskermax but left due to the insane amount of ads, and now they require you to disable adblock.
