We can play NW ball better than NW!  0 turnovers and 1 for NW.  Penalties favor NW but not excessively 6-50 vs. 8-74 for us.  Coaches can't do much about penalties but they can help with turnovers.  Maybe due to turnover concerns and the wind we had conservative play calling.  Unless you are vastly superior, the way to beat NW is not to beat yourself.  If NW had 400 yards to our 319 it would have made it a perfect ugly win, NW style.

100%.We looked like a Big Ten team today. Ugly football can be good football.

Is it just me or does the majority of the fans just happy if we go bowling this season...regardless if it the toilet bowl. I for sure would think we made progress if we go to a fourth tier bowl and win that game. Anything above that is significant progress at this point.

I would be happy with a bowl game and disappointed w/o one.

He can play in four games and still redshirt.

We possibly have eight games left, but if he's not even warming up midway through the season, why burn a year of eligibility?

I don't know how close he is to returning but if he can return next week or following the bye week play him. From what I've seen so far we need all hands on deck if this team wants to go bowling.

I think there are quite a few comments suggesting Northwestern is just not very good and we 'should' be able to handle them.   But based on their opponents and the final scores alone, one would surely be able to conclude their defense is pretty good.  Nobody is really scoring a bunch and even Wisconsin's power ground attack was pretty much stifled.   If we can core over 30 today offensiviely, we better feel that was our best performance of the year.   Defensively, we need to find ways to make some critical stops and get a couple turnovers to help the offense find the end zone a couple times as well.

As always, penalties, turnovers, field position, blocking and tackling will be critical.  We need a strong, determined TEAM effort.  Our struggles this year, so far, have been TEAM struggles really.   It is not fair to point at Adrian Martinez primarily.  He has played winning caliber football (except for Ohio State anyway).   The O line and RBs and WRs have played well enough for maybe 50% of the snaps.  The D line maybe for 75%.   The LBs and seconday maybe 65%.   Special teams play overall - maybe 65% but 20% of the punts and place kicks were not good.  Kickoffs around 50% or so were OK.  Coverage units have been mostly OK.

Today, the variosus position groups match up much better physically and athletically so if they play as well as they can play, there is reason to be optimistic.   But it will likely take 4 quarters (not just a fraction thereof) to win!

Yeah they went toe to toe with Wisconsin until two defensive TDs late. It was 7-3 late in the 3rd. Held UW to 243 yards.

Huskers are likely to have their hands full today.

  5. Both are lacking at the moment. I think Frost will be make the upgrades necessary in both areas. I love what Frost wants to do on offense but there are a lot of areas that need to get tightened up that have little to do with talent. While last night was a painful butt kicking, it gives coach Frost a sobering reality about where things are and where they need to go.

LSU, Auburn and Mississippi all recruited him as a transfer. He started 10 games in 2017. His career at Ok St was hurt because of injuries more than his play. He's more than a decent player and has played better than decent too.

I think the kid is a fine player. The fact that he's our best player rather than a depth player that those other programs wanted him for is telling. He was named captain after being here for 5 minutes.

OLine played much better when Adrian went under center.  Jurgens is severely handicapping the offense with the poor snaps.  It is like giving a down away every series.  But the OLines and  DLines are no doubt the weak links.

I get that Cam is a talented kid but making the QB jump for every snap is a deal killer. Learn to snap or ride the pine.

To be honest it is still partially a Riley team and the rest are underclassmen we’re forced to play because of Roley.

With a true Sophomore at QB and RB, a true freshman RB/WR, a redshirt freshman playing his first season for center... what do you expect when we play a team that is most likely heading to the playoffs.

The sky isn’t falling, Frost is not Riley. There is still a lot of work to be done.

I'm still on the Frost train. Just don't want to ignore how ugly it was tonight and frankly the first half of this year.

One comp I always give Frost is dabo it took them awhile to get where they are it was a few 6-8 win games seasons and a bowl embarrassment to wvu. One thing dabo did was invest in coordinators. I know Clemson did have a skill advantage having players like Hopkins Watkins and martavious bryant on one team but Frost is gonna have to invest the way saban and dabo has and become more of a ceo

Programs are more efficient now. Dabo learned that. The Saban era demands that you get the best of the best in every area or you get crushed. Recruiting, special teams, etc. nothing can be neglected for a second.

I think Chin needs to go along with the Special Teams coach...and Frost has to get the offense figured out or find a new OC that can help him out.

Anybody know how many support staff coaches we have? Bama has like 30 guys breaking things down that aren't a part of the official coaching staff. They are committing 155M to the facilities, they can afford a massive support staff. Our special teams are special needs.

You do realize that osu have players that are on steroids right? NFL players dont even throw 360 nt around like rag dolls. I said the same thing after watching Clemson in the playoffs last year. Dabo later admitted it. NCAA did nothing osu probably figure if they can use why cant we?

We better get back on them

We are 5 games in and there has been no improvement with the following:

    1. High snaps to QB

    2. O line blocking

    3. Ball protection

    4. Kickoffs

    5. Punts

    6. Kick and punt returns

What is this staff doing exactly?

Scott's been preaching no fear of failure and it's pretty obvious...they don't fear it.
