    Good coaches find ways to maximize talent. We don't realize that because we haven't had a good coaching staff in 2 decades.

    We literally have terrible linebacker, I am not sure how you can attribute that to coaching, except for the last coaching staff who left the linebacker depth abysmal.

    How can a team stop the best RB in the country, who is a future 1st rounder, when we don;t have a viable linebacker. Look at Mo Barry, he just cannot get it done, its a talent issue.

    You're obviously entitled to your opinion, but I stand by what I said.  UNL would be in better shape today had Diaco not been hired.  Riley would have "his" kids.  We'd have the depth we don't have now because kids left or were jettisoned.  We'd have an identity with a pro style offense and players recruited to play it.  Instead, we're staring at our third straight 4-8 season with no real reason to think things will improve except for hope.  Hope isn't something concrete to build on.

    Dog your high. Under Riley the team didn’t even lift. Remember when Frost’s workout sent that Tyjon lindsay kid to the hospital?

    Theeeeeeeee last five weeks?  We've lost to bad teams with their third string QB's.  Our last W came via a missed PI call.  A missed PI call that was almost as bad as the NFC Championship game last season.

    We sure do suck this year.

    Does anyone have any theory on why we are so bad?

    1. Email Mods/Admins for access.

    2. Know that even though it's locked, you can still get yourself banned, even in the Woodshed.  Just sayin....

    Thank you for the heads up, I best stay clear of the Woodshed, Bob does not need to get banned during a bi week, that would be embarrassing. I still need to save some of my frustration for our meltdown when we lose to Wisconsin and Iowa.

    Several posts have been moved out of this thread and into the Woodshed for what should be incredibly obvious reasons.

    Please keep this thread on topic and the posts within our board guidelines. This will be my only verbal warning.

    I do apologize, I am fairly new around here and I will openly admit, without being bashful that my social media skills are... rudimentary at best,  and I probably lack the proper HuskerBoard etiquette, but I  digress, is there a physical location for this Woodshed place that you speak about?

    Uh, I got a $2k loan at 18 years old for a car from my father.  Same conditions Young had.  I had to pay it back in 24 months, and if you would have ever met my father, you'd want to get a loan from a loan shark first.  He was brutal.

    Oh crap dude, that is really awesome, I didn't know your dad was a certified-NFLPA certified agent and you were a 5-star football recruit who committed to Ohio State? hahhahahahah

    My experiences with Broncos and Buffalos fans could lead me to say stupid s#!t about the entire state of Colorado.

    But I'll keep it to just you.

    I am not a Broncos or a Buffs fan so I am not sure that your description of these two fan bases is applicable to me.

    All I am saying is every year there is something else precarious going down in Columbus, yet they continue to win and win big.

    Why no one else is not frustrated like me is bewildering.

    Zach Smith and Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel, etc. it's like that program gets to do whatever the hell it feels like and is immune from any sort of ramifications.

    Now Chase Young is publicly proclaiming on twitter he has a family friend he met when he was a senior in high school who gave Chase a loan, the colloquial is known as a bag man. What 18 year old gets a fu*k*ng loan!!

    But its all cool, because Penn State can rape kids, Ohio State can cheat and beat women, but god forbid Nebraska ever becomes relevant again in my damn lifetime.

    I don't know if I am impressed with his enthusiastic disdain for Ohio State, and I guess the rest of the state, or the fact that he rolled in a Steubenville reference into his post. Well done!

    Ohio is just a trash state, in my opinion. Most people I meet from Ohio that transplant to Denver are low character, low integrity, vociferous loudmouths. Went to the Broncos vs Browns game last week, the stadium was filled with these quasi Appalachian cretins.

    The only way OSU will have to vacate wins is if they knew about it and still played him.

    What do Ohio State fans enjoy more? girl beaters or cheaters? I have never seen a program filled with more slime balls. Jim Tressel, Terrel Pryor, Carlos Hyde, Chase Young, Urban Meyer, Zach Smith, Ezikiel Elliot, etc... I guess misogyny is ubiquitous in Ohio as it sure seemed to peculate in the high school ranks in Steubenville. Congratulations on your fantastic year, I guess running the table won't matter when the NCAA forces that Sh*t stain program to vacate all its wins.

    Pretty sure there is plenty of data that says 4 and 5 star recruits have a better chance of being successful college athletes and drafted.

    Not at Nebraska lol. We cannot acquire the talent like Ohio State can. We need to focus on development and a niche system.

  11. Look at schools like:

    Michigan State;

    Kansas State in the late 90s;

    Wisconsin.

    These schools historically do not recruit highly ranked kids, yet they somehow are able to be successful and win a lot of games. It is my belief that not only do these programs have a great culture in place, they are able to target kids they know will fit into their systems and develop into contributors. Heck, I think the biggest thing that would make Nebraska successful would be to have a niche system in place once again, like the I formation option attack, and develop talent to master the system.

    Most teams run a spread attack. That means that day in and day out, these teams see this type of offense in practice. Places like Ohio State are always going to out recruit Nebraska. I just do not see how running the same system against a team with superior talent is the answer.

    Your point didn't need to be proven since no one is attacking him. If he attends a single fall practice he's made a bigger impact that johnson. It doesn't make you the nostradamus of recruiting .

    It is empirical evidence that stars next to a kid's name is not dispositive that the kid will or will not successful.

    Bold statement considering 2 of those guys aren't even on the team.

    Not too sure I follow you? You are proving my point homie. Two of those guys were highly touted and highly ranked recruits who had virtually no contribution to this, or any program for that matter. What is so wrong about defending a kid who may, or may not, display a tremendous work ethic and make an impact on this program?
