I don't disagree with your thoughts for Luke at QB.  However, what I've surrendered my mind to is that AM is Frost's QB.  He seems to be "all in" and will burn down the whole program before considering someone other than AM.  I'm having some fun in my comment but truly, Frost has convinced me that NO ONE will take his place.

For me, I'd rather see Luke at WR and use him than see him go into the portal and find a spot he will be played.  Hopefully, both AM and Luke seal the deal in their roles and both will be very happy.  However, viewing the situation with "Fantasy Football" eyes, I would currently, under these WR circumstances, look to play look at WR if he ends up being an impact player worthy of the start.

Others have said this without ANY evidence to back it up.  Every qb on roster are “frosts guys”. You know what I’m sure of....frost wants to win worse than any keyboard warrior.  Luke may have packages where both are on the field at the same time having him lined up at “wr” but to suggest they move him to wr is silly.

California is a catch and release state now.  Not a violent crime, they walk the same day.  Stolen cars, running from the police, stealing a body in a hearse, out the next day.

Just had an employee on his motorcycle hit by an uninsured, illegal alien, no drivers license and he never he got a ticket, nor was he arrested.   He drug the kid 50 , broke his arm, shoulder and massive road rash.  Nothing we can do about it at this time.  This state sucks and is really getting worse.

Headed to Utah in another year, can not wait to get out of here.  Sanctuary states are just wonderful.

I am glad this has not totally destroyed his life from a legal side.  He has a chance to get things back on track.  I hope he does, but have my doubts.

Ran into one of my friend ps that lives in SoCal, he was complaining about all the new laws they were contemplating.  One up was going to limit the time and volume of showers, in ones own home.  I laughed, thinking it was a joke, it wasn’t.  Now of course they have no way to enforce it, at this time, but my understanding was it is on the books.

This is an absolute no-win situation for Adrian. If he does win the competition, a small but loud portion of the fanbase (and this board) will scream that it was rigged, that Frost is just playing "his boy", and will wait with bated breath until something happens to him so that McCaffery will get to play. If he doesn't win the competition, then he loses his job.

For the life of me I can’t figure out the rational of those people.  Aren’t all these qbs “his guys”. Couldn’t agree with you more.

Really?  Argue about the injuries?  Where did I mention that?  If we are doing that, AM played ALL YEAR INJURED......The style of O we ran with AM had him nursing injuries for 12 plus weeks....See how that works....

    Noahs 2 games 34 for 52 with 65% completion percentage 8 yrds/attempt....Not too bad......

    Luke 9-12 75% 11.8/attempt...Again not too bad.

So statistically speaking (albeit a small sample) whatever O we ran with Noah and Luke looked pretty good.....And the O we ran with AM? He ended up injured both seasons......Not really sustainable over the course of a season Huh?.....And the loss posted by the back ups was eclipsed by AM's winning record.  News flash, he has a losing record as well...........And which QB did I say had "it"?  Huh?......

Verduzco is/was also very high on Luke giving him a lot of accolades.......Frost thinks he is ok also...

    https://www.theindependent.com/sports/college/huskers_hq/luke-mccaffrey-does-it-all-for-huskers/article_069e29cc-1091-11ea-88e9-bf8eb4ab01d4.html

Noah has a great grasp of the system. He looked crisp in his play and ran a great up tempo O when he was in....

So what was your point again?

Slow your roll.  I’m not talking down any of our qbs, I am high on Luke as well.  My point is that the style we ran with Luke and mccaffrey led to them unable to play for 2-3 weeks. AM was banged up yes, but they were straight unable to play.  You can’t run them 12-15 times a game and expect them to hold up.  As for vedral....how many points did we score in his 1 start at MN?   But he looked crisp right and on paper his stats look pretty good.  The whole point of this is AM is still the front runner for the job, he still should be based on nobody doing anything else to unseat him, yet.  I have called for an open qb competition and let the chips fall where they may, I just won’t be surprised if AM wins that for very legitimate reasons.  Why, I’m looking at facts over feelings.  I’m not putting all the blame for the offensive struggles on AM, though he did share in them.

I’ve said I’m high on all these guys multiple times throughout this thread and others.  I’ve specifically called for a qb competition.  I’m just not on the Luke is god and vedral should be starting and AM is garbage, but this is also a fluid deal, if Luke is better play him, same with vedral, or smothers.  Nobody should be there yet, facts don’t support that, but feelings and that “it” thing maybe do.

Then watch some more film. He's got a great feel for the game in HS and for what he was thrown into for college so far. Doesn't hurt you come from one of the best football familes ever. Dad is a HOF WR, brother is going to be a HOF RB, and your other brother will start for Michigan at QB who could be a top 10 team next season. The coaches said right away that he picked up the playbook really well and even knew multiple positions. He's a good kid with good leadership qualities the team gravitates towards.

Didn’t say he wasn’t a good kid.  In fact I’ve said I really like all 4 qbs we have and am excited about the development and upside if all of them.  I’ve watched plenty of film, the point is the most lazy fan favorite is always the backup qb.  He’s thrown ~15 passes, pump the brakes a bit.  I’ve said AM didn’t have a good soph yr, multiple reasons for that, but remember he was being discussed as a heisman candidate preseason.  He obviously didn’t live up to that, again for multiple reasons, but he’s got the skill set he flashed his freshman yr, it didn’t disappear like a fart in the wind.

    1) I never said he was way better than anyone else we have

    2) I never said he should absolutely be the starter

But he’s got “it” and the rest of them don’t.  Don’t we want the guy with “it” playing.  God I wish I had “it”.  Wait, what is “it”?

I don't recall the specific games when AM was out last season (I think it was 2), but Noah and Luke did "look better".  They also had pretty gaudy completion percentages.  The tempo appeared faster. They played (to my unskilled eye) with less "window dressing" and more "line up" and go.  ie simpler.  Perhaps it had something to do with a more simplified play book.  Maybe the "full" playbook was too much for AM and in reality Noah and Luke (Noah probably has the most complete grasp).  Maybe Frost and Lubick will  look at what worked and really focus on those plays and running those "few" plays via multiple sets and looks.  Kind of like another guy that did all right with "limited" plays run from a lot of different looks/formations.  Complexity in the simplicity.  Regardless, this is the most loaded QB room I can remember at NU (on paper/potential).

So let me get this straight, vedral looked soooo much better the game he started we scored.....7 pts, in mop up time, and he wasn’t in at that time cuz he was hurt.  Oh, and the type of offense we had to run with him earned him ~2-3 weeks nursing injuries.  Luke started one game, looked better than vedral, still lost, and yes the style of offense we were forced to run earned him ~2-3 weeks nursing injuries.  Not really sustainable over the course of a season, you think.  But he’s got “it” so who cares throw him in there, he’s really the next Joe Montana with that “it” thing going on.

His inability to create separation is why he got decked time after time while trying to catch high throws from Martinez over the middle?  Weird take, but we're all entitled to our opinions.  Even nonsensical ones.

Again, my point was he’s never finished a whole season.  Some on here would like to blame AM for all the offenses issues, giving others a pass.  It’s shared amongst all of them, coaching staff included.

way more times than that. doesn't have to be a pass play. he does a good job of keeping space on option plays as well and sneaking in those 10 yard runs. i get overall is a small sample size but you can tell he's got it

What is “it”?  You must be a super bowl gm if you can watch ~15 pass attempts and immediately tell he’s 1) way better than anyone else we have 2) should absolutely be the starter 3) has “it”

Ohhhhhh, he got lit up a lot.  I laughed earlier this week because somebody blamed his small body for his injuries and not Martinez throwing high over the middle.

Or could it be the game of football is going to mean you’re going to get hit.  JD hasn’t gone through a whole season yet without at least sitting for a game or two.  Could it be his inability to create separation,  nah, you’re right can we get bunch back.

  11. The depth at qb is as good as i can remember.  I’m not sure we’ve ever had 4 guys on campus like this before.  Instead of throwing shade at any of them you should just be thanking frost and co for actually recruiting.  A new idea that was totally trashed over 20+ yrs by several unl coaches and staffs.  Now time for development and learning the system, if you’re not excited to see what this group can do you don’t have blood flowing through your veins.

If Ron Brown wasn't so preoccupied with using his North Stadium office as the Bully Pulpit, he might have time to work with JD in the receivers' room.

    Did I do it right?

Ron brown isn’t a coach, but that’s one hell of a dig.  I really don’t see what his personal views have to do with this situation specifically.

Just seems to be more bad news, everytime I log on. If JD doesn't come back, it will hurt the team, imo.

We haven't had any real senior leadership, for quite awhile and it doesn't look like it will be this year either.

We have had a couple good recruiting classes the last two years, hard to say if many of them can step up and be a leader, or any of them.

I thought this year would be our bowl season. Still think it can happen. Frost did it at UCF right, couldn't have just been lighting in a bottle season, right.

I think he is the right guy, but I thought Bo was to. None of us know for sure.

    GBR!!!

By all accounts jd wasn’t a leader and didn’t want to be.  Our leadership has and will continue to come from frosts recruits, really like the way some of the 2nd yr guys talk and hold accountable others in their class, nows the time to expand that to the team.  The sky is not falling, it’s a set back, but nobody that’s chosen to leave, minus jd (which is still undecided), would have contributed meaningful snaps or production this fall.  People need to quit comparing unl to UCF, completely different situations, with unl being a much harder lift obviously, and it’s not even close.

To follow your logic he would have to be retiring from football if he doesnt come back.  Minnesota or the nfl arent going to be any easier on his body.

That’s my point.  He isn’t draft worthy right now, he likely gets picked up as a FA but has little chance of making a team.  He needed a good, healthy yr as bad as anyone right now to raise draft stock.

The only player that’s done anything worth note on the next stop is Roberts.  We aren’t missing all that much.

If JD doesn't make it back, and I have no idea if he will or not, we could be in deep doo-doo next season at WR. Last I heard through the rumor mill was Betts & Manning were both questionable in making it academically. I know last summer the word was Betts would never be able to qualify but apparently that has improved somewhat but still is not a lock. Who knows with Manning. If we are sans JD, Betts and Manning next season I don't see anyway the O can produce enough points to make up for what is appears to be a not so stellar D in games against teams with a pulse.

Not sure about manning but my understanding with betts was it was simply an act score holding him back.  All classes were on track to graduation.

Boy that MN game vedral started sure changed my mind, how about mccafrey’s ~20 career pass attempts.  Smothers was undefeated as a high schooler.  You bet all better than AM, healthy.  You can’t be serious.  Btw, I’m not saying neither of them isn’t better or won’t be in time, I’m saying the coaches know a hell of a lot more than you or I.  If you think you care more about winning than frost I have some magic beans to sell you.

Seriously what is going on with so many guys leaving the program.  ?

I know guys get tired of the game, the workouts, school, etc.   And a coaching change (HC and or position) is sometimes a problem but geesh the sheer numbers are so high - it seems like more than half the members of the classes 2016 thru 2017 and too many 2018s are splitting.  I am all for reloading and rebuilding the roster with good players that fit and so on.  But some of the players whove left were the “best” of their classes.  Are they not helping these guys get adjusted to college life, academic rigors and so on or what?

Just my opinion but many if Riley’s guys fell into 3 categories 1) didn’t fit system 2) didn’t want to compete/put in the work 3) had no business playing at this level.  Frosts first yr was a scramble and maybe didn’t vet kids as much as they wanted/should have, kids in turn didn’t have the time so followed a coach to a blue blood off name only.

for the guys who transferred are we really worse off.  The only player I can recall having any sort of impact is Avery Roberts.  Yes, Lindsay was a top recruit but has done nothing at OSU, neither has gebbia.

im in on frost for the long haul and I believe he’s fixing 15+ yrs if mismanagement, poor coaching/development, and poor results.  Addition by subtraction in much of the attrition.

Or JD can tell his dad (who is a NFL GM) he's sick of school and would rather give the NFL a shot.  JD isn't eligible for the April draft, but there is still the supplemental draft in the summer.  I am sure JD's dad would be able to gauge interest around the NFL, and see if he would get any takers late in the supplemental draft.

Maybe, I think he’d certainly get picked up as a FA but have a hard time believing if Morgan didn’t get drafted that JD would.  He needs another big yr and could have it here.

  24. Mcquitty is gone too which is whatever, If he didn’t see the field last yr he certainly wouldn’t of this yr.  I hope jd returns but only if he’s 100% committed and 100% ready to return.  JD is special but anyone not 100% in the program or the game of football is someone we need to prepare being without.

  25. National media is largely lazy only focusing on the SEC and top 5.  They could barely rattle off coaches and key players names let alone forecast the future of a team.  Hence putting a team like ours last yr in the top 25....lazy.  Hell, I think it was cowherd in 2018 saying our offense was the weak link.  In the last stretch of games we were statistically in the top 20.  Local media is much better, the afternoon guys on 1620 are a bunch of clowns and wouldn’t know their head from their a$$.  Benning, vrz, and sharpe aren’t bad, neither was bahe towards the end.
