Hit the nail right on the head here.  Could be many years before they even sniff the attendance numbers they have been getting steady the last 20 years.  The 1994 strike in MLB practically destroyed their fanbase.  It took a once-in-a-life-time-steroid-induced home run race between Sammy and Mark to revive pro baseball.  If they did not have that, who knows how long it would of taken for them to recover.  Having no fans in the stadiums and no games for most is unprecedented territory for sports of all levels.  The effects of which could last for a very long time.  Take anything away from any American, and they will find something else to replace it with.  Getting that same American to go back to what they had before...might as well be forcing a horse to drink.

talking about the NFL too. forget them and the owners can go broke right along with the players and their political bulls#!t!

Yup, honestly the letter they released last week was a mistake. Had they put that out initially I think it was fine. However, they waited until a total fire storm was brewing and then put out no additional information and hoped it'd go away. At that point they needed to release real documentation and the longer they don't the worse this gets.

i would guess this will have a negative effect on future recruiting, if the conferences that play make it through the season?

    thoughts?

To be fair, the lack of sporting events is not really changing their responsibilities or work load. It's just shifting it. If anything, their jobs are a lot harder now because they're going to have to navigate inevitable revenue losses. I'd be particularly cautious about looping university presidents into that mix. Athletic departments only make up just a piece of their oversight responsibilities.

ok, now i feel better.

  4. 67 NFL guys are sitting out the season, the rest have decided it is an occupational hazard, with risks being a personal choice.

for me i could care less who plays in the National Felons league, i won't be watching them kneeling or the multiple anthems,

    a political stunt, not football.

  5. if they do try to play in the spring, the height of flu season, how is that safer in a dome stadium?

playing at a dome location to counter bad weather is a non starter, if fans are going to be allowed.

so you can kiss the spring season good bye.

this will be a continuing mess for months on end.

That means the kids will be practicing in January. 160 players in hawks would be quite a squeeze and I don’t think any of the players signed up for practicing outdoors in January.

The spring football thing isn’t reality

would be tough with the no hoodie policy.

  7. i still think, as much as i hate it, we need to sit this fall out. the virus is getting active now that campus students are starting to return.

this will give everyone involved time to make a viable shortened spring season, which will put us on track for a full 2021 fall campaign.
