I think it's a very high percentage that we have a game.  I think it will boil down to if OSU or Nebraska has an outbreak within the program.

Actually, what I'm hearing is that the team had it go through them over the summer so, if their's any heard immunity reality, I think the team is in good shape to stay healthy.

Isn't there a "community positive rate" that we have to worry about? If so, is the "community" the overall athletic department or the municipality in which the university is located in?

I hope that as a team they have herd immunity, it's probably the best way to fend off this virus.

Not black and white. Not one person.

Pretty much all available evidence from professionals with no axe to grind suggests mask wearing can reduce coronavirus infections by 75%.  That 25% will still kill people, but if the conversation is about opening the economy and moving things forward, it starts with mask wearing. Or more to the point, not treating masks like a badge of political resistance.

Also, almost every spike in positive tests is linked to large gatherings of folks not wearing masks.

So it's not black and white, but it's still pretty simple.

I've heard and watched a number of interviews with medical professionals, some who want to effectively treat this virus and say that masks aren't at all effective, some with an axe to grind are in favor of mask mandates, lockdowns, etc.

A new study by the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/pdfs/mm6936a5-H.pdf says that over 70% of Covid patients regularly or always wear masks.

We all have to listen to and follow the science.

So...the guidelines that are in place.

There is no way this season is going to make it, is there?

I wouldn't say "No way" but I'm not optimistic about it happening.

Your analogy of Junior and the math test is spot on, imo.

I have never really gave Northwestern a thought, I just knew it was an excellent educational institution with a football coach I respect.  I am slowly starting to despise some of these pompous jackasses.

I understand that NW is highly regarded as an institution of higher learning.

But journalism is mostly dead,  and the press in the US is a disgrace.

How do you spell 'A-hole"  I think this writer's name will do just fine  - a  Snooty,   NW U grad/instructor.

Quoted in part below, she states this is the darkest day in the conferences history and blames it on the "Nebraska -ization" of the B1G which she then links to the Trump-ization of the B1G.  Basically wrapping us with the Trump flag.   She also blames some loud mouthed coaches - a not so veiled attack on Frost and Daley.

You're welcome to that opinion, but I think it's setup with clear guidelines so unlikely to cancel the season again. But just like is happening with other conferences, there will be games that get cancelled.

If what was reported was accurate:

no built in bye week,  21 day waiting period if a positive test happens,  less than 5% of the team has to have tested negative,  cities in which games or universities are located have to have positivity rates of less that 7%.

It will be extremely difficult to put a season together under those guidelines.

I like it. Everyone gets a ninth game and there's still a CCG.

I'll be surprised if this season happens at all. They set it up to fail.

But they can go back to the athletes, coaches,  fans,  donors, etc and say "We did the right thing. We revised the cancelation. We really,  really tried. "

  8. I'm sure they'll make it as tough as they possibly can.

Not only have they done that since day 1, we pushed the envelope on this "restart."

Plus,  the Carter hot mic snafu likely put an additional burr in their saddle.

Isn't the testing available now? Having zero bye weeks is unnecessarily risky. No reason to not start the 10th or at the latest on the 17th to give some flexibility.  This is dropping the ball yet again in my eyes.

Tin foil hat me wonders if this is yet another intentional delay to see if the others fail first so they can just cancel again.

It seems to me like the powers that be don't want this season to happen and that they are looking for any excuse to cancel as much of it as possible.

The way this is set up doesn't take player safety into consideration whatsoever.

    It's a total weasel move.
