In terms of the NRA, they've formed a Cult of Personality surrounding the idea that "No Guns Are Bad", and that the want for a firearm supersedes the needs of the public good. I've seen that firsthand, and will absolutely not budge on that.

Nonsense. The NRA one of the reasons why we still have a few remaining rights.

Disarming the populace hasn't worked out well for the people in leftist totalitarianism regimes, see the USSR, North Korea, Nazi Germany or Communist China.

Edit: Public education systems and their unions have done far more to harm this country than the NRA ever could.

Sensible gun control laws have been proposed (and enacted) in the past, but lobbying by the NRA has made it virtually impossible for any sort of these sensible gun control laws to be passed again, possibly ever.

Yes, over 20,000 guns laws on the books AFAIK. How about we enforce those laws?

If those industries create products that their primary purpose is to kill other living beings, then sure, go right ahead.

Yet there are hundreds of millions on firearms in this country that will never be used in the killing of a human so that's false.

What is the need for an AR-15 style weapon, though?

If there are no police or military around, and a roaming group of marxist insurrectionists stroll through your neighborhood, threatening to kill your dog, rape your spouse and burn your house down you might find out why a person would need one.

Furthermore, these are sporting rifles. Many conservationist use these tools when hunting.

Lastly, AR style rifles are used in a very small number of homicides.

"You are five times more likely to be killed by a knife than by a rifle. Hands, fists and feet caused twice as many deaths as rifles.

According to the FBI’s crime statistics for 2018, there were 14,123 murders committed with a weapon of some kind. Of the total, rifles claimed 297 victims, compared to 1,515 for knives and other cutting instruments, and 672 for “personal weapons” defined as hands, fists, feet and even pushing. Even blunt objects such as hammers and clubs caused more deaths than rifles."

I'm willing to wager that, for most people who have one of those or something similar to it, that they don't have an explicit need for it, rather than an explicit want for it, which is what needs to be addressed.

I'm not sure about the structure in which you reside or if you own a vehicle, but you don't need those either. You can live in a 10 by 10 tent and walk wherever you'd like to go.

IIRC a coroner's report that he had lethal amounts of illicit narcotics in his system.  I also did find this:

"The opioid epidemic has led to the creation of a new term: Toxic Brain Injury. This type of brain injury occurs from prolonged substance misuse and nonfatal overdose. This encompasses two forms of brain injury resulting from a lack of oxygen – hypoxic and anoxic brain injury. Hypoxic brain injury occurs when the brain does not receive enough oxygen, while anoxic brain injury occurs when the brain does not receive any oxygen. In these situations, the amount of time the brain is without adequate oxygen dictates the severity of injury."

"Illegal immigrants" are migrants who have entered the country without legal permission. All of the migrants being released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, on the other hand, have applied for asylum and have a legal claim to remain in the U.S. while they await their asylum proceedings.

Using the two terms interchangeably is inaccurate, said Andrea Meza, director of family detention services for Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, or RAICES.

"These folks are asylum seekers, so criminalizing them based on their manner of entry, which is not related to their legal ability to seek asylum, is misleading," Meza said

Of course don't let the rule of law get in your way.  Do you have evidence of the "tens of thousands of Covid positive illegal immigrants that China Joe has released?"

    Politifact, lol.

You do realize that for a person to seek asylum that they have to do so in the next country that they pass over into, right? I'm sure that you also know that wanting to make money and send it back to their family or to get better healthcare isn't a legitimate reason to seek asylum.

I'm not saying it is; however, there's no denying this country's gun culture and lax approach to gun legislation is directly correlated to the sheer volume of gun violence and deaths we experience. We have a cultural obsession and problem with guns and it goes far beyond just supporting the 2nd Amendment.

I'll agree that it goes far beyond the 2nd Amendment. It's mental health, which is a real issue that this country still has a long ways to go to get under control, so to speak.

The same goes for guns. Their purpose is to kill. They weren't invented to shoot at paper targets or clay pigeons.

Not true at all. Some guns are manufactured specifically for target shooting.  Some are used specifically for industrial purposes. Sure those arms CAN end a life, but so can any vehicle, knife, hammer, screwdriver, katana, brick, etc.

The fact still remains that there are hundreds of millions of guns that never have, nor ever will be used in ending a human life. I have never heard of an abortion that doesn't end a life.

After a bit more thought, I was thinking back pre-Covid to when I would go seek medical help for chronic upper respiratory illnesses. For a stretch of about 8 to 10 years, I made dozens of trips including at least 2 times in which I exhibited flu-like symptoms.

We all saw the tape of the Republicans get kicked out of a Fulton County poll, only to have cases of ballots that were hidden under tables being counted shortly after they were removed. James O'Keefe posted a recording (scrubbed by Big Tech) of one of the higher ups of Dominion saying that he told some of his allies in Facistfa that "they took care of it, Trump wasn't going to win."

We understand that self loathing white progressives/liberals/leftists think that p.o.c are stupid, lazy criminals, but guess what.......we need IDs to drive, to see a doctor, to get medication, to legally purchase firearms, to get a hunting or fishing license, to buy alcohol and smokes, to pick up products in store that we ordered on line, etc.   Shoot, the neighborhood school requires an ID to pick up a pre-ordered lunch.

Guess what, we're also smart enough to fill out absentee voting applications or to bring our own water bottle or other drink should we need to stand in line for a few minutes. We also will likely not die from standing in line for a little while. Many of us have stood in lines for hours to get into clubs without water and didn't die.
