  1. How about any of the incoming players, do they present a major challenge to the starters? They were coming along well in the late stages of the 05' season. Franz Hardy? With Herian back in the mix, I would imagine he will be one of Taylor's favorite targets.
  2. I'm a K-Stater, and the comments don't really rile me up. Smack talking is just part of the game. I would imagine every other team in our conference say the same thing about their opposition, only most of the smack never makes it to the papers. If anything, the comment only stokes the fires a bit for some offseason discussion. You know our b-ball teams are not going to do it, am I right? The only important thing to me is what goes down October 14th in Manhattan. It's the only thing. Probably most of you all would agree with me, right? It sounds to me as if most of the Purple People would like to see Allan Everidge beat NU instead of Josh Freeman. Everidge is my choice. Although the Lopina kid out of DeLaSalle High out of Cali sounds as if he is making a case for the job.
  3. For one thing, he is not afraid to tell you what is on his mind. A confident coach for sure.
  4. Would you change anything in particular about Memorial Stadium with the upgrade cash you'll most likely have? It is pretty nice the way it is. Any thoughts?
  5. Yep, it does. Good point.
  6. No worries kc husker. No problem.
  7. He'll definitely play somewhere. Could be a nice third down back, or return specialists. He'll play.
  8. Piggie, "You have to understand the past, to understand the future." What does that mean? I'm not being sarcastic, just wondering what it means.
  9. Did I ruffle some feathers kc husker? Damm. Just talking about different ways fans support and appreciate their teams. Some different than others. Obviously NU fans are in a league all by themselves. No contest.
  10. Very true. I'm not focused on it, don't really relish in it. Happy to have the recent history versus NU, but what happened then and up until now doesn't really mean much for the upcoming 06' campaign. Of course NU has the phenomenal history and results to fall back on, KSU doesn't. Who knows, I might feel the same if we had that history. But we don't. Good point though.
  11. Heck, in College Football today, you are only as good as the assistants you bring in. Delegation and organization get the job done, anywhere. Guess you can say he was bright enough to have coaches like Osborne and Solich on the staff. Truly one of the greats of all time.
  12. NU could seat 90,000 and fill that easy. I guess when you have to compete with programs such as Texas and Oklahoma, and now with Oklahoma State with their donors, upgrades are a must. NU should have no problem with that issue.
  13. I respect that. Truly. I should know what that is like. I graduated from K-State, and from the time I enrolled for my first class to the day I graduated, we had won a total of.... 12 games. (In four years.) Going out to the stadium for gameday was really like watching a road game with all of the visiting team's fans there with us. You just sat there and took it from the opposing team's fans. The difference is that we NEVER expected to win, ever. For many, saturdays were just an excuse to get wasted and act like idiots, not rabid football fans who love their alma mater and their teams. That is why we hold Coach Snyder in the highest regard, forever. I would not be here talking football with you if that man did not devote his whole life to Kansas State. He gave us something we never, ever thought would be possible. Winning football. And now for true fans here in Kansas, the last couple of years have been stunning to the whole fanbase. It will truly bring out the fans, like yourself, who wear their pride on their sleeve and support the team like no other. I totally understand where you are coming from man.
  14. Who cares? If you want to live in the past, go ahead. Sure, it is one of the best historys in all of college football. I respect that. The 06' version of NU football is what's being discussed and what's important now to the Husker Nation. Future Governor Osborne doesn't coach here anymore. Nor does Coach Solich. Move on my man.
  15. I do not keep up with the upgrades going on there in Lincoln much. Are they pretty impressive? With that fanbase and history, they should be. Just don't screw with that stadium much. It is truly one of the top 10 stadiums in college football.
  16. NU will most likely win the overwhelming majority of their games, but when NU doesn't pull out the win, like you say they should every game, is the letdown a killer? I would just beat myself up if I had to go through that type of letdown. Also sounds as if you think of NU as one of the elite teams these days. Top 5 program.... yes. Top 5 talent...... no. Top 5 team....... no. At least not yet. One year at a time man, they are on their way back.
  17. When the college football season ends, I go through withdrawl like most of you all do. I like the intelligent discussions you all have during the offseason, so I am glad I browsed onto this website. It's good.
  18. When Prince was hired, most of the fanbase were saying "who"? He has energized the fanbase like no other. Brought in young, confident assistants who recruit well, espically the WR's coach Pat Washington, formerly of Tennessee. We all know how well the Vols recruit, and he was their top recruiter. Both coordinators were former NFL assistants, and he evened out the staff with smaller college coaches who bring a hunger like the coaches KSU had in the early years in Snyder's era. He also is making the program more accessable to the fanbase, something totally different to the Purple Nation. Are you refering to Bob Devaney with the Bobfather line? Just curious.
  19. What are your thoughts on playing games at neutral sites? Sure, OU and Texas have that history of playing the Red River Shootout in Dallas each year, but is it fair to the other Big XII schools to still have the neutral site game? In every other year, OU and UT could have if they wanted to, only three true road games. While the rest of the league has to go a minimum of four away games. Fair, or not? When the Huskers came to Kansas City and played OSU at Arrowhead, it truly was a exciting day to watch football in the Metro-KC area. It got amazing attention all week long here in KC, and brought the usual Husker Nation here in masses. Would that be a good idea to do it again here at Arrowhead?
  20. I guess a natural rival can be a team you only play every 2 years? If NU were to make it to the Big XII championship game and OU is there, that works I suppose. Here are some "natural rivals" for you: Notre Dame vs. USC Alabama vs. Auburn OU vs. Texas (that rivalry is much bigger that OU-NU these days, just ask OU fans) Miami vs. FSU Michigan vs. Ohio St. Mizzou vs. Kansas (Border War, absolutely hate each other) West Virginia vs. Pitt (Backyard Brawl) Florida vs. Georgia (World's largest cocktail party, every year.) OU "was" the biggest rival in the past. And it is still a "huge" game when the two teams play, always will get the big-time exposure it surely deserves. Just not the rivalry it once was.
  21. The Huskers had better start doing it now, or the rest of the North will have caught up for sure. True, the records are great, they really are. Another year like last would be a horrible sign of where the program is compared to where they are used to be in the league. They can do it though. Big year in 06' for Callahan.
  22. That is true. I suppose I was just thinking about his potential. He and the Wilson kid should be interesting to watch this season. That is if Wilson can keep his grades up. Saw him play in Liberal, KS in high school and it was a mismatch everytime he touched the ball. Don't know about Butler Juco, guess he took his game to a new level while there. What a pipeline out of Butler for NU, fantastic for the Huskers.
  23. What do you think Marlon Lucky's time in the 40 is? That dude could be the gamebreaker NU needs. Every time he touched the ball in 05', you just got the feeling that something special could happen. Should be more of the same in 06.
  24. I am not going to the stadium to watch the records on the field. The scoreboard doesn't keep score of the 95' champions. It is 2006, things have changed a whole lot. NU has a coach with NO ties to the program. Did you ever think that was going to happen? NU won the Alamo Bowl over Michigan and everybody went nuts, like they should of done. Did you ever think a victory in the Alamo Bowl would be bigtime in Lincoln? I sure did not. It is getting much better though, for the present team. But hey, that's just me. The K-Staters might be the rival now. NU hasn't beaten them in Manhattan since 96', they have won the last 4 of 6 over NU, and stole the prize recruit of the 06' class. Their new coach might not be worth a damm in the future, but things are getting hot with these two programs these days.
