  1. Coach Prince sure has hit the ground running in Manhattan. The alumns and fanbase, I've never seen the off-season energy so high. The question remains.... a big one at that..... can he coach at all? The guy can recruit all he wants, gotta coach the players up when they arrive on campus. Nobody knows.
  2. There is also another QB in the mix in Manhattan named Kevin Lopina from De LaSalle high school in California who signed with KSU in 05'. A top 15 duel threat QB out of high school. I just wonder what Freeman's thinks his chances are in playing for the Cats'. Why KSU?
  3. Thanks for the info,, I appreciate it. I'm not a Husker Fan really, but I respect the history and place they have in College Football. Alot of my close friends are NU alums, so I am around the Husker atmosphere quite a bit.
  4. If you truly believe in the system the program uses, then the QB situation should not be of a great concern right now. If NU goes out and signs two signal callers for 07', the QB situation should be in really nice shape for 07'. Sure, losing Freeman sucks, but he wasn't in the plans for 06' at all. Just recruit like hell a QB or two for 07' and the rest will work out fine. By the way, I live in Kansas, and from what I hear out of Manhattan is Allan Everidge could be keeping Freeman out of being the starter for KSU til' 09'. If all works out with Everidge, and I think it will, Allan is the guy.
  5. Yeah, one can just sit around and think of the past, but obviously times are changing fast. The Sooners and Horns went above the bar and established themselves by going out and getting big time coaching and upgraded with bigtime facilitites. Recruits followed and now they seem to be the big dogs in the conference. Is Callahan going to be one of those coaches? Hey pigsonthewing, NU might own better records over time with 99% of the conference, they don't own anybody anymore. One year at a time.
  6. I am not familiar to the whole spring game thing in Lincoln. Does it cost to get in the game? Is it a whole day thing, or do fans just show up for the game, then call it a day? Just curious to know.
  7. They go into LA and beat the Trojans, now that would be a accomplishment. The national championship, would it be good....sure. Is it going to happen.....no.
  8. Wow, setting the bar rather high aren't we? A North title would be a fantastic accomplishment considering last year's results. Sure, beating CU was solid, and winning the Alamo Bowl was great against a big name team. But you gotta win the road games. If the O-Line comes around to give solid protection, and the secondary comes together, the North is in reach.
  9. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Never have. Not a fan so to speak, but totally respect the history and passion of NU fans. I watch them alot. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? I saw a link, and thought I would try it out. 3) Where are you from originally? Wichita, KS 4) Where do you live now? Olathe, KS 5) Favorite Husker memory? Beating Miami in the Orange Bowl for the National Championship. 6) Worst Husker memory? Watching the annual butt-whippings of my team every year, but those were awfully good Husker teams. And my school really struggled for many years. 7) Number of home games attended? Three, while I was in college. Came up to see those games. What an atmosphere to watch a college football game. 8) Number of away games attended? To many to count. Let's just say many. Vast majority of them at the college I attended. 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? None. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) At the stadium. 11) Favorite all time player? Brooks Berringer. Knew his sister well, got to watch him alot. Got to meet a few times as well, truly a good man. 12) WCO or Option? Option. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Not important to me. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Lil' Red, he's really funny. 15) Favorite Husker play? QB option, of yesteryear. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Bud Light, I mean MANY bud lights. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) Was jonesing for college football information during the winter, and came across a link to this site.
  10. I agree with the Evridge comment. He is a nice player, and most likely will only get better. With all the freshman playing on that line, and if they mature enough, they should give him some time in the pocket to have a decent year in 06'. Just like NU's line, need time to mature. It is all about the new coaches in Manhattan for 06'. Should resemble NU's offense a bit. Meyer at ISU is solid, but a consistent pass rush gets him to wilt under the pressure rather easily. Blythe is his only real threat, and with Hicks gone that backfield doesn't scare me. CU - Nothin' at all. The QB Cox had a nice ending to their bowl game, but that was in a meaningless situation. Although that coach could pull out the bag of tricks and surprise some. Give him a couple of years, the Buffs could surprise. KU brings in a new QB, either a true frosh or redshirt frosh. I don't consider them a threat at all. (No "D" as well, their all gone.) Their "O" really did not do anything except, of course, against NU but that was a total surprise. Mizzou has Chase Daniel stepping in for the departed Brad Smith. I think he has a chance to be special. Get that guy some legit receivers and some decent OL's and he could challenge for all Big XII honors down the line. But it is still Mizzou. The football gods always seem to crap on the Tigers. Finally, NU. Coming back with Taylor is so important to the success for 06'. Another year in the system for Taylor should pay off rather well for NU's offense. It is all about the offensive line these days, and if they give Zac time in the pocket, he could be picking apart many of the Big XII's backfields this year. I like him better than Meyer, if his line gives him a chance. I am not a Husker Fan, but I totally respect NU's past and like the way true football fans speak about the game. I really like this website, it's good.
