While Fickell would be a good choice, I just cannot see him leaving Ohio, with way too many things keeping him there.  As for who we'll eventually end up with, I have no inside information, but fear it's going to be a less than homerun type hire.  It's probably going to be some name that nobody has even mentioned.  A la the Mike Riley hire in 2014.  Or even worse a mid tier division 2 or 3 coach.  There will be a lot of questions from multiple directions afterward, of how the search could have gone so wrong.  And with this decision the University of Nebraska Lincoln, as a football entity, will fall even further into obscurity.

Or maybe I just need more coffee. 

Michigan and Wisconsin are going to absolutely destroy Nebraska, it's not even going to be close.  The Iowa game will be closer through the first half, with Iowa easily pulling away in the second to win comfortably by multiple scores.  The announcement of a new head coach cannot come soon enough, the more losses we rack up the harder it's going to be for the new staff, to pull in the recruits.

Love your enthusiasm, but you must have forgotten it's not Bama, Georgia or Ohio State that Illinois is coming to play either.  As you say; the spots on a leopard don't change.  It's still Nebraska!!!!  A 3-4 Nebraska with a less than mediocre O Line and hot and cold QB.
