  1. I think sims is going to be vary good that’s why they pulled him so early in the spring game our o-line will look better because he will get the ball out faster we will still struggle to run the ball though will might even slip in to the big ten championship game  or we win 5 games lol

  2. Do we actually know if Casey has had surgery if so he will miss the spring  I hope he is not skipping surgery so he can play in the spring and have a better shot at playing time next year

Disagree, most coaches want to win

Well he won One game at Baylor his first year and Two at temple it should be interesting to see how it all plays out trying to build depth at Qb is not an easy thing with out actual game reps

No offense, it's winter.  We are all thrilled Sims is here, for real.  We are months away from Spring, and then you know the Summer comes.... and then Fall.

Sims is going to be very valuable to this team.  And we should be very excited for him and this offense next year.  He might even rake !!!

But, he's going to have to be one special motherf#&%er to beat out Casey Thompson for this year.  Let's be honest, injuries aside.

I don’t think Rhule cares about wining next year he is trying to develop a team not sure he would concentrate on a QB who only has one year to play I think at both Baylor and temple he started freshman by the fourth game or something like that

He does look like a Martinez style quarterback. I'm not crazy about his interception numbers, but I'm sure the coaches will be all over that.

He got better every year with interceptions he had 13 then 7 and then just 3 last year so I see progress

Somebody has amnesia from the years 2003-2007....

What does 2003 have to do with 2022 and I said for O line coach witch he has more than proved that he can coach at the highest level not head coach he’s a bad head coach and a bad play caller

Like I said, we can’t run.   CT is a pretty good passer and kept us in the Purdue game. I didn’t realize Purdy was such a drop off. I’d go with Smothers and his running game after watching Purdy’s immobility and lack of arm strength. Is it just me or does Grant look worn down? He got picked up and fumbled in an ugly play and not running downhill like we saw earlier in the season. Just get the first down.

Grant to me just looks frustrated with the play calling If they start smothers does it  shrink the play book to much I mean how many RPO style plays do they have in the play book

  8. I think Trev  likes Mickey because if he can turn it around he wouldn’t immediately leave for another job but I do think he wants Aranda so he can have both a proven head coach and then one in waiting i bet Trev will make Aranda a offer he can’t refuse  if that doesn’t work I think he will keep Mickey and go after the best coordinators and line coaches money can buy with the money we would save by retaining Mickey

  9. Keep Mickey and get the best assistants you can get like coach O for d line and bill Callahan for O line  when we get the trenches good work your way out Callahan only makes 1 million a year I think so give him 2  we could get coach O for 800k I think they could turn the trenches around pretty quick

Whipple deserves the most blame for the loss of anyone although there's plenty to go around to different parties. He refuses to make the game easier for his players, or to even entertain the idea of establishing the run (which we were having success with in the half dozen times he reluctantly agreed you can't throw it deep on EVERY play).

The way to win against a team like Illinois when you're outmanned is score early, get one stop and one more score and force them to be behind schedule. We had that opportunity, but Whip scheming 'too smart' and Casey not playing smart enough made it impossible.

    I agree

  11. The best thing Mickey could do is fire Duval he has turned these linemen in to guys that can’t move or bend by lifting so heavy they are not body builders there athletes you don’t need to squat 700 lbs to play football they should stop at 500 and increase reps

Define get things moving in the right direction. That seems to be the issue the divides the fans and former players and media.  The eye test?  The wins vs losses test?   What is the pass or fail measure?

    Year 1

    Year 2

    Year 3

    Year 4

    Year 5

First year bowl game second year bowl game if not they need to go if they do that then they get more time

That’s still taking a cheap route and losing out on potential candidates. NU can’t go cheap with this hire.

We don’t need to start over I don’t think any way we lost to a top 20 team with the number 1 def in the country while playing a back up Qb and it wasn’t a blow out we went three and out how many times in a row after Casey got hurt no defense can hold up to that  and Casey would be so much better with a offensive line I mean it’s amazing we were ahead at one point with the worst offensive line in the country with a few upgrades in the coaching staff like coach O on the defense and a few others I think they could turn it around pretty quick we have good skill players just need some dudes in the trenches

Not sure if you are serious but you have to give head coaches at least 4-5 year contracts or it will be used against them by other coaches on the recruiting trail.

You can give them 4 year contracts and still only give them 2 years with the portal that’s all the time you need to get things moving in the right direction

  15. Doesn’t mater how good of a coach you are you can’t scheme around the play of this offensive line the defensive line played better but still not good enough they should be able to sell immediate playing time across both lines in the portal and high school seniors I think you give Mickey a couple years to see if he can make it happen no more five year contracts until they prove they are worthy
