Collier to become Butler's new AD Nebraska coach Barry Collier is leaving to return to Butler — as the athletic director. Collier, who interviewed for the position on Friday and will be inducted into the school's Hall of Fame today, is out as the Cornhuskers head coach, according to sources close to the situation. The 52-year-old Collier played at Butler and went to a trio of NCAA tournaments in 11 seasons as the school's head coach from 1989-2000, when he compiled a 196-132 record. Collier led Nebraska to 19 wins, the most since 1998, and the Cornhuskers made the postseason two of the past three years, but he still didn't have a vote of confidence from the higher-ups — as he was in the third year of a four-year deal and hadn't received an extension. Collier was 89-91 in six seasons in Lincoln. Some of the names expected to be in the mix to replace Collier include former Nebraska assistant Scott Spinelli, who is now the top assistant at Wichita State and has brought in most of the top players in the program (returnees Jamel White and Aleks Maric and talented incoming freshman Roburt Sallie and Ryan Anderson). Wyoming coach Steve McClain should get a serious look — he graduated from Chadron State College in Nebraska, won a national title at Hutchinson Community College and has won a pair of conference crowns at Wyoming. Kent State's Jim Christian has ties to Nebraska AD Steve Pederson and will likely go after the opening. Nevada's Mark Fox could also be in the mix, but he's got a talented team coming back led by All-American candidate Nick Fazekas. Wichita State head coach Mark Turgeon is a long shot, but he hails from Nebraska. Another possibility is UCLA assistant Kerry Keating. Former Utah head man Rick Majerus and Creighton coach Dana Altman may also be mentioned, but sources have told FOXSports.com that neither is interested. If you don't mind me asking, I also use the GIMP and I always wanted to know how to do glows around the players? hey of course. i believe where i got it was here. just scroll down to layer effects..there're two i think..but i think they're the exact same thing. if you have any questions on stuff from GIMP, just go to GIMPTalk. hope this helps
