  1. Manning from Tally will be tough to keep. He just visited Tenneesse and they are losing 4 DB's. Considering we just got Grixby, that might persuade him. redout
  2. Couple links I found on the guy. http://olemisssports.ocsn.com/sports/m-foo...wles_jim00.html http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_np=0&u_pg...38&u_sid=986753 This is a great choice, but how long do we expect him to be here. Money may help for a little while. redout
  3. "one thing is obvious - the former NFL coach is hammering away at recruiting. Callahan now has three current or former recruiting coordinators on staff." This guy is from Ole Miss and again he's a coach that has bounced around a bit. Do we as Husker fans really expect these guys to be here for the next 10 years and gel as a staff like we have had in the past?? But at face value the recruiting part is fabulous. redout
  4. Really interesting article. Put a smile on any Husker fans face. redout
  5. What's the status of Schuler anyway??? He had blood clots last year. I thougt he was probably the best recruit we had last year. If friggin' Olsen wouldn't have decommitted this would certainly bring back the pipeline. In a few years, for two solid years, barring anyone from leaving early etc., we could have the best O-line in the league for two straight, consecutive years. redout
  6. Here's another way to get to huskerpedia.com http://69.10.150.232/ redout
  7. No, I'm pretty sure he was scholorship redout
  8. He comes from the same mold as Eppley, although not as big of a jerkoff. Eppley made entirely too many enemies in his time as S&C cord. I think he was there from 84-90 in their some where. So he really helped build the program. redout
  9. I know the Mackavicka'a were walk-on, the one is still in the pros. Jared Tomich, All American. Larson form this year. There's a bunch of 'em. Who knows more. ????????I'm missing some obvious ones redout
  10. It would be difficult for a couple reasons. One is nothing resembles this type of offense in the pros. Although maybe 5% of all college players will reach the NFL, they still dream and aim for it. It's just not appealing to anyone, unless you grew up on a farm in Nebraska. Receivers will not come to a school that features the bone. You will never get a top playmaker go to a school where he will have about 2 catches a game. They'll probably both go for tochdowns and average about 40 yards a catch, but it won't happen. The bone is also to easy to defend against now. Too much team speed. Back in the old days, NU and OU would get every playmaker in the midwest on their teams, because of the number of scholorships they had, keeping them away from the other teams, therefore blowing out everyone they faced until OU and NU faced each other. RMS, ohh though your intentions are good, it will never happen. Here let me fill all of our hearts of what life used to be like. This is taken from the college football hall of fame in South Bend, IN. It's from a section they called classic rivals or something like that. POWERHOUSES OF THE PLAINS Respect, winning traditions, and excellence have been the cornerstones of the rivalry between Oklahoma and Nebraska since Nebraska won their first game (13-9) in 1912. With both teams ranked in the top ten Division 1-A schools in the all-time winning percentage and total victories, the effects of this close rivalry are felt on a national level no matter who wins when the Sooners play the Huskers on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Year after year, national championships, consecutivewinning season streaks, national rushing titles, undefeated seasons, and conference records are at stake in this rivalry. Sooners Illustrated described the Oklahoma/Nebraska game as one where "Heisman Trophy recipients have run through holes created by Outland Trophy winners only to be tackled by Lombardi honorees." redout
  11. I was really gearing my comments toward corners, but what about depth. Say one of them goes down, who goes in???????? Can't count on Bland. He's been hurt more than he's played. I think at best McPherson is average. Slim pickin's in the secondary. Washington is the only true corner. redout
  12. FYI - b jax ball is in the wrong hand.......couldn't help myself
  13. From Murtha himself: “Actually right now I’m leaning toward Nebraska." He gave the visit this week a 91/2 and his Minnesota visit a 7. He is feeling some pressure from people at home to stay in Minn, but seems like a strong kid he'll do what's best for him. The way he spoke. Kind of sounded like a little school girl who just went on a date with the boy she's been eyeing up for months. He went on and on. Cally told him to take his time and he didn't care if he heard from him tomorrow or next week. Murtha expressed possible a little immaturity when he committed to Minn in the middle of his junior year, especially without taking an official visit. He also said he was the one who contacted NU. He will room with his teammate Swift. Boys I think this one's in the bag......Nebraska 2 Minnesota 0 redout
  14. Yes, but remember we also had this "problem" a couple years ago when we had 7 Ibacks on scholorship. I beleive '01 in there somewhere and none of them up to this point did or have worked out. I think Horne right now has the most potential, but refuses to work hard and use it. Ross is as good as he's going to get. He'll never have a gain over 15 yards. I honestly haven't seen enough of Green to develop an opinion, but I do beleive if B Jax gets his grades in order and qualifies this year will be our back of the future. I'm not sold on any of the backs in camp right now. Obviously lots of time to go though. redout
  15. News from Georgia has D.T. throwing 96 mph at a Atlanta Braves try out type thing. Folks you don't throw the ball the fast and pass up big time, guaranteed $$$$$$$$ to go to UNL and work you butt off for two or three years and try and gain a starting position do you???? He can't be happy about Callahan bringing in all these QB's either. Do his abilities still land him in scarlet and cream. Yeah I know Gill is still here but........$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Thoughts about D.T.??? redout
  16. One thing I am certainly worried about is DB, even if we get Grixby. NU has F.Washington and that's it. Amos may never return to his old form and the others have graduated or were good, I believe, because of the scheme. We need at least one more solid DB, and that's counting Grixby. Which I do believe is committing to NU. redout
  17. Up to this point, Jackson the RB is certainly the highlight of the weekend. ranked 16th in the nation, built like a truck and can fly. Now he needs to qualify. To really make this a class worthwhile of Callahan standards he needs to capture Grixby and Murtha. Or this will be considered a below average class. Lets face it some of those kids are a bit flaky. Some aren't ranked?? Would you agree. Don't get me wrong I like that there are kids commiting, but some aren't accomplished redout
  18. Here's a link in case anyone is interested on Turner. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPG0R4HAAO1.DTL redout
  19. That's a very interesting way to explain Murtha. I think he chose NU because of location and the fact he wanted to get out of what ever it was that happened to him on his visit. NU was just lucky they contacted him before anyone. redout
  20. Have they been able to handle it all along??? That question will need to be answered by past coaches. But wouldn't logic tell us, in very loose numbers, it's easier to coach 130 players with 10 coaches instead of 170 players with 10 coaches. More attention things like that would occur. You would work with 85 scholorshp players, who at least 60-80% are going to see the field and make the significant contribution as opposed to the 85 walk-ons where Nebraska may have 1-5 make a significant contribution. redout
  21. I hope he does whats best for his carrer and his family... his a good man and should be respected as such. ....nicely put, I agree. redout
  22. Gill's got a lot on his plate right now. Think about it. He just saw one of his best friends get fired and then he is told to take over his postion because one of his best friends couldn't get the job done. It sucks. He is just looking at some options. He hasn't committed to anything yet. redout
  23. The other side of this is less walk-ons, but the way Callahan is recruiting do we need this many walk-ons. The trade -off hopefully is we won't need them as much. Besides Larson, Rickets was also a walk-on, but I don't believe he would have started for any legit team in the Big 12. I just not sure I see it anymore, not completely gone, but I think Numbers have to be cut to allow for more time with legit players. redout
  24. Yes I understand WY Husker, I know your upset, but it's not as if the University is not giving reasons behind their moves. Do you understand why their doing it?? It's a buisness. NU has to move forward. Nobody runs, runs, runs anymore. You can't win like that. redout
