Couldn’t agree more. We can’t keep on the same track with another lame duck hire that takes five years to rebuild. With the dumpster fire state of this program, we need to try something completely different, especially now that the landscape has changed. Go all in on a new approach, new branding with new energy and excitement to the program. We need this desperately for recruiting. Deion comes in and the hiring announcement would immediately blow up and get national attention and get the interest of top recruits. Deion, NIL and the new facilities will help seal the deal with top recruits.

Deion has no coaching mentors, he hasn't put in the grind. Where was he an assistant coach? High school doesn't count. I believe Deion will get a HC job at a Division I program after this season, and odds are that he will fail spectacularly.

MJ would be and is, at least twice as qualified as Deion for this particular job, and MJ isn't even a fit.

Honest question?  Do you follow him on social media?  Have you watched any of his pressers?  The reason I ask is the Prime, I watched play at FSU and the NFL is not the same guy coaching Jackson St.  What he teaches, preaches and coaches is exactly what NU needs.  Accountability.  Physicality.  Responsibility.  Do it the "right way".  Preparing young men to be better.  Sounds a lot like the "Nebraska way".  Pretty confident there won't be rumors with Prime like those that surrounded Frost and his crew.  3 games in this year, he demoted a good friend on his staff from OC to a position coach. The reason?  at 3-0 the run game wasn't up to snuff.  He can recruit his a$$ off by just being himself.  If the player doesn't "know" him, the parents do.  Hall of Fame NFL player.  Contacts galore.  For he above reasons alone, I'd take a shot with him.  We'd be winning quicker than most would believe.  He has 8-10 4* kids on the roster IIRC already at J St

To add, the media publicity alone would be worth it's weight in gold.

Frost's hire was a huge deal at the time, and we got TONS of media. Show me where the "gold" from that event is being stored.

Well he’s undefeated this year won 11 games last year and they beat the piss out of southern 35-0 I think he can coach at any level and be successful. He has what a 25-5 record or something like that

His well established persona isn't a fit for this program (Full Stop).

As much as I hate to say it, I am done with former Huskers as coaches.  We lose our objectivity when they are one of our own.  Frost should've never gotten year 4.  Ruud should have never been hired.  I think we'd have the same issues with MJ IF he didn't show improvement each year.

Clean the slate.  Shoot for the stars.  Get a jam up recruiter.  Guy who can develop and improve what we have.  Knows the transfer portal.   We are a dumpster fire. Bielema in year 2.....29 yards the 2nd half......No bowling in 6 years.  No winning season in 6 years...No beating a ranked team.....No depth...No development.....The list of lack of accomplishments is staggering.

Agreed. Mickey has less than a 2% chance at getting the HC job at this point.

Meyer or Bielema would have this program completely turned around by the 2nd year.

I agree that Mickey can improve his case by winning games. I just don't think losses will necessarily hurt his case or it be the determining factor.

Don't kid yourself - he wins, he's in...he loses, he's out -- and the new incoming HC in that case would NOT be forced to retain him (no HC worth his mettle would agree to a requirement like that).

Good thing we have plenty of depth on that O Line...

Does Thompson make it through the whole game today?

I suspect he will get sacked 3+ times, hurried 6+ times, and will throw 2-3 int's. This season's IL defense is simply that stout, and this combined with Huskers' dismal OL talent spells disaster for Thompson passing today.

From Trev's perspective, I bet W-L has little to do with Mickey getting the job. At most, Mickey is being asked to keep the ship from sinking: plug a few holes with bubble gum and add a little paint. He didn't create nor worsen Frost's rust bucket.

I disagree. If MJ wins-out rest of season including bowl game - the job is his with no debate.

You never answered me in the other thread.  If he doesn't win another game in 2022, will you feel that way?  What about 1 more?

MJ has a LOT of positives as an assistant coach and recruiter, but will not be the Huskers’ next fulltime HC. Less than a 10% chance at this point.

He would probably need to win the rest of games this season, and win the bowl game to get the job. Seriously, that is what he will need to do to make up for the lack of the right resume.

No it doesn't. The list is extremely short compared to all the if/maybes that don't hit.

And PJ Fleck? You serious? Exhibit A of how short that list really is if you're having to include PJ Fleck to make your point.

Not one of those guys has even close to Urban's resume. If Urban wasn't an option, then you can start talking about the best of the if/maybes, because that's all we'd have to chose from. But Urban's an outlier by a long stretch so none of your arguments apply to him at all.

    Agreed.

I stopped by the Horseshoe in CB earlier today and placed $2K on Illinois at -7.5 points. This is the first bet I've placed this season on a Huskers game.

Nope.  One of the worst actually. Many people are saying Trev should be fired for using them.

Collegiate Sports Associates is the same search firm that conducted the Nebraska AD search that ended up with Trev getting hired. Perhaps Trev is showing loyalty to this company for him getting the AD job?
