...and I don't think any realistic person is expecting that. However, the West isn't that difficult to win, and there's absolutely no reason why we can't be on the level of a Wisconsin or Iowa.

Urban Meyer will be in town next weekend... coincidence? I'm glad he'll get to see our talent and new facilities firsthand. It's not like this is going to require a drastic rebuild -- we have talent.

I see the "we have the talent" argument over and over.  I don't necessarily disagree.  But I don't think we actually retain the talent.

Under Frost, he's brought in talent and then I'd argue 75-90% of that talent doesn't play or goes AWOL.  Something is seriously wrong with his roster management.  In year 5, how are we playing Colin Feist, Wyatt Leiwer, Chris Kolarevic, Brody Belt...how?  It's unacceptable.  Absolutely unacceptable. You cannot win without the race horses.  Where are they? Why did Frost continously force out talent season after season?  Something tells me he is a divisive personality.  He brings in talent, talks them up, then they go awol or leave.

So I agree...but I think I would amend it as Nebraska can pull in the talent.  Yes, they can.  Most coaches who will coach there can.  But who can retain it and develop it?  And actually play the guys they invested time into?

If it's Mike Locksley.... just shut this place down and let the volleyball players use that new facility.  That would be the biggest joke in the world.

Mike Locksley would be the death of the program.  FIre a loser and hire an even bigger loser.

  3. Maybe we shouldn't hire a head coach at all. Everybody does it.  Let's de different and just not have one.  Or just put a pinecone on the sideline.

I swear a pinecone would have won more games than Frost.  Even if it was just one more game, that's how bad Frost was.

  4. On the topic or Urby...

I don't know if this is legit, but Dan Patrick claims Urby is interested in Nebraska and Arizona State.

I think this presents a unique path for Urby.  Does he want to have fun in the sun, having the ASU female student base grind on him in the desert paradise, or does he want to team up with Trev and be the guy known to fix Husker football and also clean up his image?  Honestly, it's up to Urby what he wants most out of life right now.

Now..we don't know if Urby is even realistic.  This is taking Dan Patrick at face value.  Taken at face value, Urby has two clear paths and a life decision at stake as well.

I agree. That’s why he will try to lure a current Power 5 coach, or a former P5/NFL coach.

I like this.  This isthe right approach.  Now is not the time for young or up and coming status.  Need stability, experience, and proven records

I would hope he would be third option. Why didn't he last at Florida?

See Florida has been in a constant state of desperation since Urby stepped down. I don't think we can pin any Florida knee jerk reaction on the coach.

He was 34-15 at Florida.  They fired him because they hated his PR and they felt they should win more games.

I think the difference is right now Nebraska just needs to win some games.  Not saying Mullen is the guy...just pointing out his record is stable just like alot of other coaches being thrown out

Dan Mullen is worth a look. He can run a program. I’d really like to understand his staff. We need nasty back on defense. Who would he have for defense? Connections to the south could help us.

I see people laugh him off, but I mean...look at his career record.  He will win games and lose some as well.  but he will win some too.  Typically he wins more than he loses, but sometimes he loses too.

With Frost right now it's just an endless losing feeling.

We need stability more than a home run in my opinion.  But of course, I am reacting to a snakebite and not reacting like a proud winner.

    I like Gus

Might be dumb football-guy stuff but I'd like to hire someone who's won in cold weather.

i'm not for him, I just think landing someone with a relatively stable body of work would be good.

This is where Dave Aranda or Jim Leonard would scare me.  I'm thinking we try to land someone with wins under their belt over maybe a decade of results

I mean it depends. Is he beating Notre Dame or Holy Cross

    haha it's Gus Malzahn

But Matt Campbell, Matt Rhules, Lane Kiffins, and Bryan Harsin's of the world have similar head coaching records in FBS.

My struggle is I just don't see the difference between any of them. I guess at the end of the day if they can just win some games each season it'd be fine

Winning championships?  No, Probably not, but Iowa and Wisconsin have been consistently putting up winning seasons.  If they can do that, no reason why we can’t.

I'm looking through the lens of a very bad period...i didn't mention championships, by winning I simply meant I just want to win 6-9 games a season so we aren't a laughing stock anymore

Who knows what the future will bring. The facts are that NU has a loyal fan base, a strong brand, and boosters willing to put up plenty of $ to succeed.  NU probably won’t be able to be national championship contenders, but there is no reason why NU can’t be competing for Big Ten West or making the 12-team playoff every few years.

I would love to win 6-9 games a season after witnessing the alternative.  I'd sign a contract in blood if I could

  12. I turned 35 today.  I was born in Columbus, Ohio...where college football around Buckeye fans is hell every year.  I'm a die hard, loyal Husker fan as long as I can remember.

I signed up to pour my heart out.  It will get trolled mercilessly, I'm sure...but at this point, for the first time as a fan, I don't want to watch them play again.  This program is tired, patched together, and down right not worth the time.

The reason I'm such a loyal fan was because of my father.  He passed unexpectedly less than a month ago on August 18 @ 3:30 PM.  I was so excited to watch games with him this season, clinging to what must have been a single dental floss worth of a thread of hope.  I think it's time for me to step away from this program as a fan to reflect on more important things.  This product isn't worth my time anymore.  Not anytime soon this year, at least.
