  1. I realize that. We wouldn't have this thread without it. Just wondering who strikes you as a grinder who hates to lose and who doesn't...of some names that are being speculated about here.
  2. I don't know, I think anyone who's had much success at all in this game could be considered grinders that hate to lose candidates. It's pretty subjective and outside of a couple guys where that's a known fact (Urban, Deion), I can see most of them seeming to fit that definition. It's not like there's a list of guys who are known to spend half the year golfing and sitting around eating bon bons.
  3. He got Washington to the CFP in his 3rd year (lost to eventual National Champion Alabama). Won 2 conference and 1 division titles in 6 years there. Finished ranked in the top 15 three out of 6 years. Pretty solid. He did not rebuild them, they were in decent shape when he got there. Agree, his recruiting would be a question mark for me. Average recruiting ranking of around #23 with all that success doesn't seem all that great. Nothing really tells me he could move the recruiting meter, but apparently he's a develop players type guy? He's a definite notch above most of the names being mentioned in my book. Plus Huskies and Huskers sound similar...so, there's that. I'm not big on "cultural fit" mattering much at all. But in this context, he just seems like suuuuuuch a west coast guy. There have been countless stories about it. I don't think it would matter as far as our acceptance of him, I just think it might matter as far as his interest in us.
  4. I got no problem with Petersen, but to answer your question, Baylor had won the conference 2 years straight before the whole Art Briles rape thing. And just three years after it, Rhule won the division. Baylor's not the doormat of the Big 12 they once were. Aranda and Campbell seem pretty equal to me, only difference is Campbell has a larger body of work.
  5. I guess. Seems like a bit of a reach to me. Could be anyone Nuehesial is referring to. And again, of course Nebraska has reached out to some coaches. At least I hope we have by this point.
  6. We're over a month into a coaching search and we've reached out to another coach? Jeez, that's really going out on a limb there, Nuehesial. No clue why people would be reading Petersen from that comment. Because they're both broadcasters? They're not even at the same network.
  7. One could also view that as, now that he's starting to play with his own recruits (aka not Rhule's), he's not very good. His recruiting classes at Baylor have been #37 and #41...in Texas. He's got a 59% winning percentage and he took over a program in great shape. Baylor was ranked in the top 15 the year prior before Rhule went to the NFL. So, it certainly isn't like he's shown he can rebuild a program. He might end up being great, but he's a long shot at best. Far from being a "home run" as I've seen him referred to here. And nowhere near warrants being mentioned in the same sentence with Chris Petersen. Their resumes aren't even comparable.
  8. How does he plan on getting the talent? He can’t get it in Texas. You think he’ll somehow magically be able to get it in Nebraska? And he doesn’t seem to be getting more out of his talent this year. You have to look at the context. He barely won a Big 12 Championship ( beat a team that had already beat him in the regular season and lost to a 5-7 TCU team) when OU and UT we’re both down. Sark was in his first year and Riley had a foot out the door. And again, likely to not make a bowl this year. How is that good enough? He’s worse than Campbell and that’s saying a lot.
  9. petersen >>>>> aranda Sorry, just not getting the love for aranda. At All. He’s in a recruiting hotbed, hasn’t recruited for s#!t, had one good year with Rhule’s players when the Big 12 was down, and he’s probably not making a bowl this year. How is he supposed to improve Nebraska?
  10. Hope you're right on Aranda. He shouldn't even be in our top 10.
  11. Filling in the blanks timeline on Deion... September 11: Frost fired, Mickey named interim HC September 12 and the days to come: Several media outlets and fans pushing for Deion Month long search by Trev commences October 5: Mickey Joseph quotes Deion to help motivate the team... October 14: @Vizsla1 posts this... Deion sits down with 60 Minutes for an interview wearing all red that's one part endearing himself to Nebraska fans... October 15 and the days to come: Lots more buzz around Deion from media outlets and fans due to 60 Minutes interview October 18: @admo posts this... Starting to think this thing might already be a done deal...the answer has been right under our noses.
  12. You didn't, I did. But if we're not going to give credit to Deion for his FCS success, we certainly can't give Leipold credit for his D3 success. Simply pointing out that for 2 guys who have taken over dumpster fire D1 programs, Deion has a much better record than Leipold. Comparing on the field and recruiting results, Leipold looks pretty average, honestly. And I actually think Leipold is a pretty good coach and wouldn't be completely opposed to him if we hired him.
  13. Division 1... Leipold 49% winning percentage 0 conference titles Sanders 80% winning percentage 1 conference title And both took over dumpster fire programs. Deion > Leipold Cherry picking stats is fun.
  14. Of course you would. Anybody with half a brain would.
  15. The optimist in me knows that radio station is a legit sports station and the official station of the Dallas Cowboys. No doubt those guys have their ear to the ground with the Cowboys and no doubt Deion still has a lot of connections within the Cowboys. I listen to them very little, but I wouldn't think they'd be the type to just report on internet fan chatter. The Ticket doesn't even do much of that and they are much more of a frat house, less serious about sports than The Fan. So, not sure why they'd even mention it unless there was at least a little something to it. The pessimist in me questions why it hasn't been picked up anywhere else.
  16. Of course he doesn't. Can we stop talking about losers like Campbell and Leipold and get back to discussing winners like Urban and Deion? Trev's not offering Campbell or Leipold and neither of them is leaving their programs anyway. See how it works?
  17. It's aTm. They haven't won anything since like the 30's
  18. Seems like they're already getting along. From LJS article 2 weeks ago...
  19. So, we've gone from "he's not good enough for us" to "he's turning us down?"
  20. To each their own. I find meaning in it...like time of possession.
