  1. If the TE motioned out of the Weak-I it would be an illegal procedure also due to the rule of having 7 players on the line of scrimmage every play. I agree 100% with that.
  2. Weak-I Formation (WR)--------------OOXOO(TE) -----(WR)-----------(QB) ------------------(HB) ----------------------(TB) The TE is already on the weak side in the Weak-I formation so if he runs a curl, it depends on which 1/5 of the field he is in, same as the HB in the flat, because in Cover 2 the 2 safeties have the deep halves and the other 5-- (CB-SL-ML-WL-CB) in that order, have underneath zone coverage splitting the field in approx (1/5) each, and have to make the play in their zone. So if both the TE and HB are in the WL's 1/5, then he would have to play underneath the TE curl and come up and make a play on the HB that is underneath him. The WR 20 yard post means that the other 2 LB's play underneath it tryin to sneak a pick and the safeties knock his head off. Hopefully the CB on the weak side would help out the WL because that would only put 2 receivers on that side of the field and he has no other responsibilities behind him. In cover 2 you have one job, cover your zone.
  3. zoogies Today, 05:31 PM Post #46 Anyone with common sense knows QUOTE that speed, strength, quickness, work ethic, and being smart are not compatible with being a good football player Right. ------ haha my bad... corrected
  4. BigWillie If you are so dumb to not realize that speed, strength, quickness, work ethic, and being smart are compatible with being a good football player, then with all due respect.. God help "you". Anybody with common sense knows this. Glenn has all of the above factors, and that "IS" the reason that he is doing well right now... not because "you" think that our LB group is not. I agree with you, our LB's are not by any means great... but at the same time just because 1 person does well gives you no reason to assume that all of the other LB's stink. Yes LB seems to be a weaker link for us, but me assuming that they are pretty good and Glenn is doing well is no different than you thinking that they all suck and Glenn sucks a little less... either way anyone looks at it, Glenn is still outperforming... even if it is a "Cinderella" story. And I never said playing LB is easy, I'm simply saying that it is harder to get passed blockers, get into pass coverage quickly, and make tackles than it is to understand what to do on a play. Knowing what to do is much easier than actually doing.
  5. Haha... I know right? I mean Glenn's success has nothing to do with the fact that he is probably the fastest LB, quickest LB, highest vertical LB, strongest squat about for the WHOLE team, between 3.0 and 4.0 GPA, work ethic, character...etc. IMO it is not showing lack of talent at LB for us, but just that this is where Cody has needed to play his whole collegiate career. Football is football... you hit and tackle every play. I guarantee you if Dick Butkus switched to LB after 3 years, he would have still started there. There is alot of thinking at every position, but some people think too much and that is where mistakes are made. It is not brain surgery at LB... if the OL comes up to pass block, you are a cover LB, if they come out hard at the DL, then it is most likely a run... 98% of the time those 2 reads are correct. The other 2% is where long TD's happen...
  6. If someone is talking about "one great play" on the radio, I'm sure it wasn't just a play where he ran up and kissed Castille and then Castille smiled and layed down. I've been to many practices in my lifetime, and when I see a great play it is always someone who does it on the field as well. You hardly ever see average players making great plays. Whether Glenn knows where the RBs are gonna be or not, he still has to get by blockers, make it to the open lane, and make the tackle... which just happened to be Castille, our bruiser back. I'm confident that Glenn going against Lucky, Castille, and Helu will prepare him for any back we'll face this year.
  7. QUOTE(Cy the Cyclone @ Apr 10 2008, 08:28 AM) Since Pelini seems to be so high on Helu, why not move Lucky out as a split end or slot back? QUOTE(DaveH @ Apr 10 2008, 10:02 AM) Helu was a fresman last year. There's no way a coach would give him most of the carries at this point in his career. That would be dumb IMO. -------- IMO, fresh, soph, jr, sr.... no matter what classification, you let the RB, or any position at that matter, who is doing the best play. If you have an Adrian Peterson as a fresh and a Julius Jones as a senior, it would be retarded to play the senior just because he has been there longer... may the best player play. I am by no means saying that Lucky is a Julius Jones and the others are Petersons, but getting caught up in classification is where some teams make their #1 mistakes, no matter what position. Lucky was the starter last year and proved himself... but this year if Helu or Castille are to do better than Lucky in the first 2 or 3 games, why waste them and keep starting Lucky because he is a senior? My prediction though is that Lucky will not do bad. I do not favor one of our RBs over the other, so I want the one that is doing the best to play the most in order for Nebraska to WIN! I would love to see... Marlon as a slot receiver, and Helu/Castille as split backs or in the I-formation with Castille at fullback.... why not get them all on the field? Lucky in motion... reverses... I'm just sayin...
