  1. My 2 cents, as the esteemed Rawhide pontificates....

What isn't really being discussed here is "question" of why this country has such a high murder rate with guns {compared to most EVERY other country} Canadian citizens own a lot of guns, you don't hear of this happening there much do you? {Or could it be that communist plot of socialized medicine has something to do with that?} There is something obviously wrong with our collective brain pan on this......

And why does the "average Joe" need an AR-15 or AK-47? Not just criminals buy these, I've seen it at gun shows. To paraphrase Jack Nicholson in "The Departed" Owning & using weapons like these don't add inches to your d*ck. Again this could be a symptom of the problems we have on this subject that I stated from above.

Is it possible that the tragedy at Sandy Hook could have been prevented IF these weapons were properly secured away? Were they just left out in plain sight?

  2. Question is straightforward. I'll start with mine: Michigan

I despise everything about Michigan except for Denard Robinson (hard to root against him, he's humble with a million dollar smile). Perhaps it's the saying "We dislike most those who remind us of ourselves". And as much as I hate to say it, Michigan is a mirror image of us. College football blue-blood, top 5 overall in victories, heismans and NC's etc., the Rich Rodriguez and Bill Callahan situations are eerily similar (offensive wizards who were brought down by subpar Defenses), similar block M to our Block N logo (just a blue version) to name a few.

But it goes deeper than that (1997 comes to mind). Their fans are arrogant. In my interactions with Michigan fans online and in-person I get the sense that they thumb their nose at our tradition and contributions to college football. It seems like every Michigan fan I spoke to in 2010 had no real excitement or concern about us joining in the big ten, basically revealing their thoughts that we would be a push-over in conference play. Virtually every Michigan fan thinks that they would (not could) have beat us in 2012 if Robinson/Gardner played qb against us, and that they would have scored a touchdown on that drive that Robinson got hurt.

I really thought that OSU and Michigan would be Texas and OU respectively before we joined. However, I find it is the complete opposite. Every single OSU fan I talked to in 2010 was genuinely excited to have us in the conference, acknowledging room for multiple powerhouse programs. One of my buddies, who is a Michigan fan, after the Michigan 2011 game (after which they truly felt they were 'back') posted a facebook status: "I remember when a man named Bo Pelini said he had no interest in the Michigan job. No one in Michigan wanted you anyways and today we showed you why" and it really set me off.

I feel like we will meet OSU in the CCG on a semi-consistent basis for years to come and that those games will be hard fought to contribute to a respectful rivalry a la OU towards the end (I realize NU and OU hated each others guts in the 60s-90s). But I think the right to represent the legends in the CCG will almost always be decided by NU and Michigan, and consistently having these stakes for our games will make our feelings towards the Maize and Blue get downright nasty like Texas.

Refute some of my points if you feel differently

    Penn State hands down.....

Ever since I've lived in Pennsylvania, I've heard & read the arrogance of this supposed college football power. Never minding the instances where PSUcks and Nebraska have crossed paths, {Like the '81 robbery & the debate in '94 & the mistreatment of fans in '03} PSUcks fans have a persecution complex, any play that goes against them {Like the "fumble" in the end zone} is a crime to humanity on par with the holocaust. Though bring up the time Paterno had a players relative officiating a game while he was playing in it has a conflict of interest and you'd get a look from them like "How dare you disrespect our god"!

Which brings me to another point; PSUcks fans {and the national media for that matter} worship of Paterno. Coach Paterno built his legacy on the Temples, Cincinnatis, Marylands and MAC conference teams. His record against top 25 teams is mediocre & his record against top ten teams is atrocious. But Paterno did it the right way, never a sniff wrong doing from the NCAA, well now we know better.

I've talked to a lot of other Big Ten fans, of course OSU fans are gonna say the hate Michigan the most, who do they hate a close second? You guessed it, Penn State. Other schools fans rate PSUcks in their top two or three in disgust, for good reason.

  3. A few cars?

    Here would be my list.....

    2013 Aston Martin Vanquish

    2013 Jaguar XK-R

    2006 Ford GT

    2013 Cadillac CTS-V

    2013 Porsche GT 2

    2013 McLaren MP4 12c

    2013 Lamborghini Aventador

    2013 BMW M6

And finally a Ford F-150 Raptor SVT

  4. why does everyone assume o'brien is going to leave soon. he knew what he was getting into; that is why he had his contract stipulate a guaranteed extra year for every year of sanctions. i would guess he is there for the long haul.

also, why would an nfl team want chip kelley? he has amazing offenses until they play legitimate defenses. guess what, every defense in the nfl is legitimate. he will not be able to get the kind of offensive talent he needs and even if he could, he will not be able to get offensive players that have enough more speed than the defenses to implement his offenses. same reason no one has ever ran an option offense in the nfl and oregon has never produced a quality nfl qb.

    Uh no....

After watching the Eagles play last night I can say their defense is far from "legitimate'........

  5. I really feel bad for their fans and supporters.

    Don't....

I live right in the middle of ground zero Penn State country, and the vast majority of these "fans" believe they and their university are being persecuted. Reading the statements from those in the local papers & the internet, as well as the Paterno family press releases, I'd be ashamed. These clowns are the same fools who would strut around with their noses in the air & commenting on how Penn State is superior to the Miami's, Oklahomas, & Nebraskas of college football because our program is so clean and our coach sits at the right hand of God.

I have no sympathy for Penn State & their fans....

  6. WHAT no Blazing Saddles requests???????

you people are so.... so droll

    GBR

Okay just stop right there. Like it was previously posted the classics SHOULD be left alone, and this all time great should never be messed with. Slim Pickens was a god in this movie, and I think we can all agree that this was Brook's best work ever. Blazing Saddles is one of my top three movies of all time & I'd hate to see it remade in what would be garbage.

  7. A great weekend of college basketball 52 games in 6 days. Upsets, close games down to the wire, only a few blowouts. Now its Monday and what are the talking heads blabering about? F'n Peyton Manning. He's worse than FaV- ra. What an attention whore.

    T_O_B

    G>B>R

I think the difference here is Manning isn't orchestrating his over exposure, this is all on the sports media. I'm more pissed that NBC decided to switch to a nothing golf tournament instead of keeping the glorious Flyers defeat of Pittsburgh in overtime...

I despise the politics of the Tea Party and what it stands for.

Let me make sure I got this right.

OWS: Endorsed by the KKK, Iran, Neo-Nazis. Paricipitants are guilty of assault, rape (special bonus: women and men), illegal drug use and dealing, violence, rioting, and open anti-Semitism. They try to coerce women into not reporting sexual assaults to the police. They want to destroy capitalism, favor socialism, and they also like to destroy property and defecate on those things they do not like.

Tea Party: Want lower taxes and smaller Government.

And you "despise" the politics of the Tea Party.

    Talk about over simplification.....

I can find plenty of undesirable groups who support tea party policies.

Please, find them for us. And don't simplify whatever you do.

    http://www.democracy...es_tea_party_to

There's also a website www.stormfront.org that's just full of real American, real christian folks who got a serious hard on for the tea party. But like I said before, present facts to certain people and it just doesn't matter....

You said you could find "plenty of undesirable groups who support tea party policies" and you post a video with no sound? I clearly asked you to not simplify, and you did that very thing...in mime. Try again. You didn't "present facts to certain people." You posted a video with no sound. Give us those names and plenty of them. Okay?.

I guess the last sentence in my previous post proved correct here, but thanks for playing Yossarian. You stated before about being libertarian but it's obvious you have some rather right wing totalitarian philosophy in your thinking.

  9. oh, and 1 more...

Do you kick the FG or go for it on 4th?

Kick the field goal, even if missed they only gain two yards when Penn State took over. Make the field goal and that would have forced Penn State to score a touchdown.

Disagree. PSU had a better chance of blocking the kick and scoring on special teams than driving the field with no timeouts. And there was still the chance we pick up the 1st down, which would have been ballgame.

Statistically that's a low percentage of happening, that's like saying the Huskers could'a fumbled on their 4th down attempt and Penn State ran it back for a score. IMO when you have an opportunity to score points, score points....

It's impossible to prove either way, but IMO the percentage chance of winning is better if NU goes for it. PSU can still score a TD and win even if NU makes the FG. There are a host of possibilities where PSU can tie or win if NU gets a FG blocked (or misses) or doesn't get the 1st down. The game is over if NU gets the 1st down.

Well we can all agree on the outcome of the game.... :cheers

  13. Most of these are one time exceptions. New Orleans is getting money because of damage to katrina.

I really hate Tea Party Repugnants.

    Sub…….

Have you ever been to a Tea Party event….?

I confess that I walked through one a year ago locally to see for myself exactly what was happening. Here is what I found: People overwhelmingly concerned with the constitution. In fact, they handed out free pocket copies. Almost the entire event centered on their concern for the constitution, very little of the event was overtly political. They were unfailingly polite and courteous and respectful. They were profoundly passionate about what they believe in. I also found a pretty representative cross section of gender, race and age that I would guess fairly models our local demographic.

Here is also what I did NOT find: Derogatory comments about others; any bashing or inciteful commentary. No evidence of bigotry, racism, or class warfare. And, respect for the property demonstrated by voluntarily cleaning up the site afterwards.

I was pretty impressed. Of course, that is only one instance and it is tough to generalize to the whole, but the sense of it was very respectful.

The world seems to want to categorize the OWS movement as the counter-point to the Tea Party, so I also meandered through our local OWS demonstration this week. The contrast was stark. As opposed to the positive atmosphere of the TP, this was almost entirely negative, whining and bitching. Again, I need to be careful not to generalize from simply 2 sites, but the differences were graphically notable in tenor, content and focus.

My question is why you refer to the Tea Party participants as repugnant ? I understand you may differ politically from the majority of TPers, but repugnant is a fairly strong indictment of folks who seem to be lawfully and peacefully exercising their concerns about a wayward drift constitutionally.

Don't know where you were, but You Tube has plenty of videos showing tea baggies in their element of racist, name calling and general stupidity about serious issues. I also find it amusing that none of these so called "real Americans" were too overly concerned with the constitution & government spending when Republicans were in power in all three branches. But I digress, this subject has been well debated before here. And the outcome won't change now.

Lets be honest you took the gig to get free Papa Johns pizza(who wouldnt) because you guys play in the stadium named after the delicious yet extremely unhealthy pizza. Good Luck I hope you guys make it to a bowl this year. :koolaid2::laughpound:w00t

    Papa John's, delicious pizza???

  16. You guys were there, can you estimate the N crowd? On my TV it looked like a lot of red in those stands.

First let say say that we were also well received at the game yesterday, perhaps a dozen and a half "welcomes, thank you for coming, and good luck".Hell I was even interviewed by a local television station about the game and how we were treated. Nittany Nation has much to be proud of with their hospitality yesterday. From my vantage point, about 90% of Husker fans were in the North end zone (upper level)

  17. Hello Husker fans. I ventured over here to see if there was any football talk going on. However, As I am finding there is no place to escape all the talk, and that is understandable. I noticed there are some serious and genuine concerns about safety, and after last night I can see why. I live in a rural farming community 50 miles east of State College where Penn State is everything. In a state of over twelve million people, don't confuse us with Philly and Pittsburgh people. I have been going to Penn State games all my life and I can tell you that we are lost and hurt, but not stupid. We have been told we were above all that is vial in the world of college sports and we all bought into it. It is hard to even grasp what is going on. However the consensus among all fans that I have spoken to is when due process runs it course, those guilty should pay a heavy price. What I would like to see happen to Sandusky, the law would never allow. As for your trip to State College, I would bet the farm that Nebraska fans will be treated with respect. It will feel like a funeral probably, but as far as fan safety, I truly believe all visitors will be safe. As long as visiting fans remember they are here for a football game and not to rub salt in the wounds of life long beloved fans, all will be fine. I for one will go out of my way to welcome Husker fans and condemn openly and mistreatment. I appreciate your Great program and its' tradition, and hope whoever makes the trip will enjoy your time here. P.S. Pray for us all. We Still Are....Penn State

What the hell is wrong with Philly fans bub? chuckleshuffle:lol:
