  1. relatively new to Husker Nation....going to be honest with you guys i did bet agains't them vs Missouri this past year. Been a casual husker fan for a few years now sorta flip flopping between a few other college teams mainly Cal and Penn State. Being that i am from canada and the coverage on one specific school is next to none, we just get whatever regional coverage ABC/ESPN has on saturday nights thats mainly why. It wasn't since this last year that we finally got ESPN Thursday Night football on a regular basis. Anyways ive decided that i wanna stick by nebraska and become a true fan. So what is the best websites to follow for recruiting? Any live broadcasts online? or radio calls online? like i said im lucky if im able to watch one husker game a year. Thanks again for the advice in advance!!

You can't be a Husker and a PSUcks fan, it's just against natural law.

  2. Not really sure what I would do with someone on my roster who can't play. Let's just limit it to active members only.

:lame Fine then I withdraw my nomination, but I do so under protest. Sorry for thinking outside the box.

So you wanna nominate somebody who can't post, use the avatar created for them? I understand the reasoning for Jen's attributes, and I wasn't one who thought she should be banned. But IMO it's a wasted nomination.

If it's such a wasted nomination, then who the hell do you think deserves it?

I'm just pointing out the obvious problem of awarding something to a banned member. As for who deserves it, it's plain to see that only the same couple of dozen names that keep gettin' recycled have a shot.

  3. Bear with me on this nomination because I would like to posthumously honor a member that was unquestionably football knowledgeable, yet also one of the most stubborn and hard headed posters I've ever come across. Right or wrong this poster was never shy about telling it like they saw it. I can honestly say that I was probably this posters most hated Huskerboarder and it would probably give them fits to know that I am the one to nominate them. But the truth is as ugly as I though many of their personal views where, their posting style was always tenacious, and in the short time they lasted on the board they made quite an impression on all of us. So without further ado I would like to nominate.................................Husker Jen!

So you wanna nominate somebody who can't post, use the avatar created for them? I understand the reasoning for Jen's attributes, and I wasn't one who thought she should be banned. But IMO it's a wasted nomination.

  4. I certainly hope this is BS. I'm sorry but i'd have to hide my rooting for Suh if he played for the cokesuckers known as the Eagles. I hate all Philly teams no matter what sport, the town is full of these things called douchebags, not to mention it's considered the douchebag capital of the world. Yes I said douchebag twice in the same sentence, that is how bad they are.

Please let Suh go to a team with some class. :boxosoap

    :yeah Philly sucks.

    T_O_B

The Eagles other needs, DL isn't one of them. So I don't really ever see this happening, though I'd buy a #93 midnight green jersey.

And to you sniveling hatin' little p*ssies out there, you can just eat the peanuts outta our sh*t for all we care about what you think of Philadelphia.

  5. This is so bad for Obama, I can't even put it in words. His almighty health care plan is getting stuck right up his rear end. The bank bailout turned out to be the biggest farce ever, and the economy is still in the gutter.

He's so screwed for the next 3 years.

Before you all think that this is a Republican revolution, do consider that Brown supported Massachusetts universal health care plan. And has voted for tax increases while being a state legislator.

  6. You guys realize that the bible actually has many examples of countries "suffering" for their defiance of God right? It's not a far stretch. I don't think the guy is trying to hate. He sincerely believes that it can be prevented and wants to warn people. Outside of his show that he used to host I never really heard much from the guy so I don't think he's as big on publicity as people accuse him of being.

    :blink::facepalm:

  7. This doesn't change the fact that we've got the worst health care in the G8. I was never really really on board with this version of "health care reform," but something, SOMETHING needs to be done. They need to focus on insurance reform first, not this broad, mostly directionless "health care reform."

And I don't buy into the notion that Obama is "done" for the next three years. Bush staked his early presidency on No Child Left Behind, which was a well-meaning, if flawed piece of legislation. Nine months later some *$(%$$#$ flew a couple of planes into a couple of buildings and the whole Bush presidency was derailed.

I guess what I'm saying is, this may not mean much. Three years is a LONG time. So much can happen.

I agree. However my sense of joy comes from the fact I felt the Gov (Dems) slammed in their version of Healtcare reform without getting better - let a lone right.

In America Healthcare is a HUGE issue that needs a solution. With this said, let's sit back and get a better solution than what was rushed through.

And just how long should we sit back and let the status quo remain in place? It seems to me that Massachusetts already has a universal health care system set up, perhaps Brown will back this system since he's been taking advantage of it.

  8. I think she asked a very legitimate question.

Why would he stay out on that nasty slick field when the are up by 33 points, when an injury could derail his chance at a 7 figure payday plus bonuses in the NFL?

Suh basically said, because he wanted to be out there to make a statement, and it was the last time he would be playing along aside his brothers out there on the field.

I guess she should stay in the kitchen and be barefoot and pregnant. :sarcasm

No, not in the kitchen but in the bedroon. Not barefoot but in heels. And not pregnant.

  9. 1. Valentines Day; only cause it's also my birthday, birthday sex {need I say more}

    2. Labor Day; football season, cooking out, nice weather.

    3. Halloween; seasonally my favorite time of the year, and we do it up for trick or treat.

    4. Christmas; not really into it that much but the wife goes nuts with the decorations.

    5. 4th of July; cooking out, fireworks, bikinis

    6. New Years eve night, St Patricks Day, Cinco De Mayo; make serious bank those nights.

  10. Or when BArAck ObAmA gets his "farkmeinthebackside" care, football like many other physical sports will just be outlawed due to the risk of someone gettin hurt. Remember the movie "Demolition Man". That's what we're headed for.

Looks like you upset some people!! But that's what happens when you speak the truth!!

    OMG TEH TRUTH!!!11

His statement didn't upset me, I just thought the highlighted area was an incredibly classless comment. I'd rather not get into political debates, because those always seem to escalate quickly and get rather ugly.

So the truth is classless? Sure he could have selected better words to express his discontent, but who are you to say that his feelings of being FORCED, at gunpoint, to pay for health insurance with his own hard earned money, not only for himself but for others as well, is not the same feeling that he might get if he was truly getting f@cked in the @ss?

Is it not true that when government becomes involved in any industry, with any issue or any other imaginable problem they feel inclined or entitled to solve, that regulation in the intervened market increases? Does that regulation increase costs, limit choice and in the end create an even bigger mess and worse problems in the end? That's what I mean by the truth!!

And if you don't wish to talk, discuss or debate politics, or anti-politics as I like to call it, don't post in the politics section of the forum.

And where is this truth about socialized medicine and banning "rough" sports. England has socialized medicine, yet they play rugby with no problems. Canada has hockey, haven't seen any movements to ban that sport there. I could go on, so where's the proof?

I never said that socialized medicine will lead to the "banning" of rough sports, I said that government intervention always leads to more regulation. If you need proof for that, take a gander at England and Canada's healthcare industry, they are two of the most regulated industries in existence.

Besides, arguing over the technicalities is absurd when one strikes to the root of socialized medicine and points out that it is merely the forced theft and redistribution of one person's property to another. Does the fact that elected officials, in the form of government, vote to approve the theft somehow make it ok?

The first post of this thread was an idiotic rant on how Obama's socialized medicine was gonna ban all physical sports. To which you agreed.......

  12. Before I begin, congrats on a good season Huskers! We're pumped for a rematch against you guys. We're still a little bummed about being 1 play away from being in the Rose Bowl, but next year is supposed to be OUR year anyways so the Holiday Bowl is a great get for us this year.

Before you guys start predicting a dominating performance by your Nebraska team over Arizona, you might want to take an objective look at how the two teams really match up, who they played and beat this year, and both teams strengths and weaknesses.

First off: For all of you who think that you will crush us and that we are a weaker opponent than Oregon State or Stanford, you must remember 2 things: 1) Your offense is absolutely terrible. You will be playing the 20th best Defense in the country with the best Secondary in the Pac 10 and top 10 in the nation. We have the conference's sack leader on our team with 11.5 sacks, and a front 4 that constantly pressures quarterbacks with very little blitzing. Zach Lee will be throwing against 7 or 8 defenders covering 3 or 4 receivers on almost every play. Not easy. We also beat Standford and Oregon State; two teams you think are superior to Arizona.

Secondly: Arizona will be an offense very similar to Texas Tech's. We are not a smash mouth team, nor a pro-style offense like Texas (which you guys perform better against on D). Our spread offense will minimize the effect Suh has on the game because our all-Conference QB Foles gets rid of the ball very quickly on WR screen's, hitches, outs, and slants.

Finally: Arizona beat USC at their place, we beat Oregon State at their place, and beat Stanford at home. Not to mention 2 fluke plays that cost us two close losses. And taking Oregon to double overtime. We also crushed a 1 loss highly ranked Central Michigan team. All of this in the top-ranked conference in the country. We have the nation's 9th toughest schedule and won 8 of those games.

If I were you, I would take Arizona a little more seriously than it sounds like you are.

Good luck and safe travels to the Holiday Bowl.

Thanks for the advice, though I've seen Arizona boards that the majority of members think that it'll be a cakewalk in your favor.... <_<

  13. Big 12 football: Longhorns and the 11 dwarves

    By John Rohde Comments 50

    Published: December 2, 2009

The Big 12’s hope for respectability this football season is found solely in the eyes of Texas.

MultimediaPhotoview all photos A season initially filled with promise has gone kaput outside Austin city limits.

Texas remains unscathed, but other teams within the conference have felt significant pain. The circle of life among the league’s 11 dwarfs has been difficult to fathom at times.

Nebraska lost 9-7 at home to Iowa State, which lost 34-8 at home to Oklahoma State, which lost 27-0 at Oklahoma, which lost 41-13 at Texas Tech, which lost 52-30 at home to Texas A&M, which lost 62-14 at Kansas State, which lost 38-12 at home to Missouri, which lost 40-32 at home to Baylor.

What a mess, and potentially more could go wrong.

A Nebraska upset over Texas in Saturday night’s Big 12 Championship game in Arlington would be a wonderful achievement for the resurgent Cornhuskers, but it would render the entire conference insignificant this bowl season, which is no easy task when you have eight teams in postseason play.

A season that began with high expectations could end on an all-time low.

Five Big 12 teams were ranked in this year’s Associated Press preseason Top 25 — No. 2 Texas, No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 9 Oklahoma State, No. 24 Nebraska and No. 25 Kansas.

Only three teams remain in the poll — No. 3 Texas, No. 21 Nebraska and No. 22 OSU.

The worst Big 12 showing in the final AP poll was 2006, with the Sooners at No. 11 and Longhorns at No. 13.

If the Longhorns win big Saturday and OSU loses in the Cotton Bowl, there’s a good chance Texas will be the only Big 12 team ranked at the end of the season.

Explanations — or excuses, depending on your viewpoint — are easy to find.

OU suffered more injuries to standout players than any college football team in the continental U.S.

Some wounds were self-inflicted. OSU wide receiver Dez Bryant repeatedly lied to NCAA investigators after being repeatedly warned.

Kansas presumably is about to fire coach Mark Mangino, who began this season 5-0 and ended it 0-7.

Colorado was expected to fire coach Dan Hawkins. When he was asked to stay, the most stunned group were members of his staff, who figured they were long gone.

Bob Stoops insists he wants to coach at Oklahoma rather than go to Notre Dame, but he’s had a hard time convincing people.

Louisville might try to steal Texas Tech coach Mike Leach.

Imagine what might have been had prominent Big 12 players stayed healthy and Deion Sanders kept his paws off Bryant until the spring semester.

The conference offered a cast of Heisman Trophy candidates in OU quarterback and defending champ Sam Bradford, Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, Bryant, tight end Jermaine Gresham, running back Kendall Hunter and Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

Instead, we’re muddling through the lamest Heisman race in history. McCoy is still very much a contender. Suh should receive some consideration, but sadly that doesn’t mean he will.

The Big 12 is down to the Big 1, which is why all eyes are upon Texas.

Texas will win the National Championship for this year, no doubt about it. The have the best offense and best defense in the country and one of the best Head Coaches in all the land. Kinda like what Nebraska used to have years ago. Oh well, times change and now Texas will rule the Big XII for many many many years I'm afraid to say. Guess we just have to get used to it...

Make sure you get all those specs of feces off you grill from Brown's ass......
