  1. Falcons traded Duckett because they have Norwood, Eagles have Moats, Jets have a Blaylock, Houston. I agree the 49ers may need some depth, too - Maurice Hicks is no.2 and he's not the answer from what I've heard. Let's hope for the best. (the Jets don't have anyone particularly good at RB, I'm just noting that they've got a lot of guys there. Curtis Martin hasn't retired either, afaik.)
  2. Well, most likely the new stories replace the old stories. Not *everyone* is dedicated enough to this cause to seek out and cling on to every little bit of news that comes out, as it comes out. I'm tempted to join in the hurrahs, but the LJS blog link says he's still considering OU, despite having applied here.
  3. Clearly we are Husker fans And they are not. That's all, really. You can put any sort of spin on any situation for any team in the country. Of course we are having the best preseason ever, and we're going to be undefeated. No one understands us! The team is really starting to gel, like never before. We have a huge influx of bounding talent. There's just a new vibe about this team. Not like last year, or the year before, or the year before that...
  4. Haha! I'd forgotten about that. Funny guy. Today we have demolished three football teams, stadiums, two gatorade tanks, and their shovels. Sam Keller will not go to the infidels, never! As for USC, my feelings, as usual, is that we will lambaste their bottoms as lamb chops. ESPN press is lies! All lies, lies, lies! We are winning! Sam Keller will be a Husker. I triple guarantee you. At least, I hope he will be.
  5. Congdon (kicker) is a sophomore. Punters are freshmen or sophomores, I think.
  6. One of the articles said Louisville and UTEP, I believe; it also said "NOT OU or CU." For the love of God, please not OU. Just come to Nebraska. Why would you go anywhere else? Agreed, crazy reason. But change is scary, maybe he just wants to stick to his commitment and not transfer. Who knows? If he does though, has to be NU. HAS TO.
  7. Good points...I saw on SI or ESPN the other day how Adrian Peterson was setting a goal of 2,200 yards...I guess winning is too hopeless there at OU to consider
  8. That's good news. I saw on Rivals a blurb that read "Read what Coach Callahan and Joe Ganz have to say about bringing in Sam Keller." I don't have a subscription, but being grouped with Callahan, it seems like anything Ganz said would have been positive and welcoming.
  9. I'm more on board with the whole Keller idea now; obviously when teams switch quarterbacks they usually have a dropoff, somewhat, whereas with Keller, we'd be rolling along with no loss in momentum at all. I don't understand why he would even consider staying at ASU and redshirting before transferring next year to play immediately though - as suggested in the article - why wouldn't you redshirt at a school where you'd pick up the system before you're sent out to play? Anyway. Let's hope for the best, but remember, if he decides on another school, it's not the end of the world. *crosses fingers and hopes we land Keller*
  10. There was an article recently, don't have a link handy, that described what you're proposing to a dot, CentexHusker. It was about RB coach descending into his laboratory with his four backs, which spews smoke and emits evil laughs for a few days, and emerging with a spliced-together FrankenBack. It also described the amount of frowning the NCAA would do at this. And how they would ban future player-morphing in the game. But I don't think we'll have to go that route. Just run 50 times a game
  11. theKID, I suppose you're right. I'm just having a long, slow, and arduous process of digesting this information. ZT, for instance, I'd never even heard of before he came here. Other big name transfers that have been pointed out, I had no idea were transfers. It just takes some time getting used to the idea that Keller, an established marquee QB in the college football world, is going to be at Nebraska next year. *excuse me while I finish digesting*
  12. Did I miss something in the link? It looks like the exact same story from the exact same author, but with a different picture of Keller...no mention of Lincoln or classes; last line starts, "If he leaves ASU"... I would've preferred we only heard about this after it was all over and everything was settled. This suspense is killing me.
  13. Let me clarify: I want Keller to come to NU. But I'm reserved about this, and have mixed feelings. Better here than on a potential opponent's team, and this is a truly golden opportunity that doesn't always come around. But QB is not exactly our neediest position, and we run the risk of marginalizing a guy like Ganz or Davis - Ganz, if you recall, was everyone's golden boy when Beck ran off. Again, turning away a guy like Keller would probably be stupid, but he's coming in to supplant guys on the depth chart who have been working all along towards being the next great Husker QB. But nothing's even official here. We haven't seen Keller in a Husker uniform or in this system, so of course it's hard to imagine him as a Husker. Despite my misgivings, Keller has to get a chance to prove himself, and as others have said, we want the best guy under center next year to lead our team. He's still only a college student and will have a lot of transitioning to do should he come here. We can't really say how he'll respond to that, regardless of his credentials. Let's not run away with ourselves here. Rumors are getting out of hand. His father has been quoted as saying he's never even met Bill Callahan, while everyone else seems to be touting the Mike Keller-BC connections.
  14. Yes, I think it would. But this is nice too, can't complain - but you know, it'd be great if an all-american CB came here or something.
  15. I'm not saying it's a definite, but there are a lot of places where they could trip up. I like Notre Dame, I wish them the best, but I think they'll have around two-three losses this season. They play Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, UCLA, USC...not exactly an easy schedule. I guess four is a little hopeful of me
  16. I guess I hope Keller comes to us, or stays at ASU. The other schools he's considering are Oklahoma and Colorado, after all. I'd be horrified if Keller went to one of those schools. Horrified. So I guess we'd better pray for him to come to Huskerland
  17. Brady Quinn will lose three-four games this year If he doesn't, look out.
  18. Texas has a fantastic secondary, so that'll be tough. But nothing's impossible. We have got a great bunch of receivers though. Swift, Nunn, Hardy - some talented new guys - and Matt Herian.
  19. I guess you're right. I'd be happy to land Keller, or at least, happy if Keller doesn't go to another Big 12 school. I'd just always envisioned grooming Ganz (or maybe Hildebrand) as our next QB...logical line of succession, suddenly interrupted by a transfer? Still, you're right in that he has a lot of talent...too much to resist, perhaps.
  20. Well, it's all about winning games, isn't it? As talented as Adrian Peterson is, he's a junior, I believe, and OU will probably drop a game or two this year. If we manage to go undefeated in the regular season - and that is a HUGE IF (I don't think we will) - but just supposing we do, I think Zac Taylor gets a great shot at the Heisman. Otherwise, he'll be off the top 10 radar. **edit** I forgot Adrian Peterson isn't going to come back.
  21. You're right, it wouldn't hurt Witt's development. My bad You have a point with getting the talented division 1 QB, but the reason I'm reserved about this is - Ganz is a Husker. Davis is a Husker. Keller has always been a Sun Devil. By all rights I still think he should be a Sun Devil. It just doesn't feel right...
  22. [link] Zac Taylor is #24 on this list of Heisman candidates, a list which runs 100 deep. He's in front of Rhett Bomar (before he transferred), Drew Weatherford, Kyle Wright, Erik Ainge... Who knows? It's possible. With wins against USC and Texas, I think he'll be guaranteed a top five. He could even win the whole thing. In fact, I think he should.
  23. I wouldn't. Ganz and Witt are potential for our future. Keller would be a one-year plugin that will only hurt Ganz's and Witt's development. I believe I should include Hildebrand in this list too, because he has three years to play three, if I recall. And I just want Nebraska to build up a young guy for great success in the next couple years, too. I have faith in Ganz. And I'm also a little hesitant about players that transfer this late. I mean, he's been a Sun Devil for just about his entire college career. How can he just step in and be a Husker, regardless of his talent level? Yeah^. Granted, I'd rather have Keller on this team than on OU and CU. So if that's the alternative, let's get him here. Better playing for us than against us. If he comes on board, I'm ready to support him. But I have a feeling that with Keller, Hildebrand, Ganz, and Witt all in the mix, someone is going to get pissed and left out. I think, however, the most important thing to take from all this is that the ASU coach handled this thing like a blind donkey. There's no reason he couldn't have had Keller, a senior, and Carpenter, a sophomore. If Carpenter wants to be a crybaby and leave if he doesn't start straight away, well, that certainly sounds familiar.
  24. John David Booty has been named starter, I believe. Personally, I hope he loses it to Sanchez. Young QBs are easier to faze.
  25. USC's defense...well. They did play some good offenses, but they had shootouts there. 38-28 v Arizona State, 42-21 v Arizona. 34-31 against Notre Dame, 51-24 against Washington. 50-42 against Fresno State, and of course the 41-38 loss to Texas. Their uber-powered offense has been their strength. If that offense sputters, they aren't invincible this year.
