Coaches up a Heisman candidate QB, wins the ACC at Pitt. Decides hey guys the best career move is going to Nebraska on a coach in a make it or be fired year. What could possibly be a better move for me?

I said this earlier about another candidate but it applies to him as well. If you were looking to advance yourself as quickly as possible being successful at Nebraska will do that much better than being successful at Pitt. If he can come in next year and Nebraska has a good year and our offense looks really good he's going to immediately become a head coaching candidate for power 5 schools.  Conversely if things don't go well the majority of the blame is going to fall on Frost.  Even Bob diaco even got another big10 DC position and he was not only incompetent.....he was crazy.

I doubt he leaves a team playing in the Rose Bowl with a coach not close to the hot seat for much rougher waters. I’d love this hire, but seems like a pipe dream.

It is a risk but also high-reward. If he comes here and is successful he's immediately in line for top jobs as a head coach. That is difficult in this current position. If successful, and that is a big if, Nebraska has a much more high-profile job in a superior conference.

    Can't change arm talent.

That not completely true and only part of the package.  I’d rather have somebody with lesser arm talent but is able to manage an offense well(which AM could not).   Great kid.  Good talent.   Maybe he's been mismanaged by our staff but I don’t think that is the whole issue.

  4. Hire a ST coordinator.  Have Frost/ST coach/grad assistants handle the QB's.  Hire a QB special assistant that handles the QB's in the film room and off the field.  This isn't that hard and IMO is fireable offense.  If I was this incompetent at my job I would be fired, sued for malpractice and likely going to prison.  and I'm a pro frost guy...... but come on.

If Nebraska calls a better first half offensively we could have actually won this game.

Not even sure what to say.  This was the year imo because we actually have a legit defense.

The one positive takeaway is that we made this an entertaining game in prime time again against another ranked team.  We lost but at least we made it a ball game.

2nd half was the best play calling of Frosts tenure

Yessir. I have to go back to 1997 to remember feeling this way during a Husker game. I realize it was a pretty bad NW team but still, Nebraska did just what they should have and needed to. No critical mistakes, dominated and stole their soul. It was beautiful.

What about running the ball down Miami’s throat in 2014?

  7. I struggle getting too upset with an 18-20 year old for being wishy washy on school…esp if they don’t have parents/strong adult figures to steady them.   My father was a college basketball coach and over his 20+ year career I cant tell you how many times he had kids come in and were quite flakey (and almost certainly would have transferred in todays climate) who by the end of their college career had matured immensely and went on to have wildly successful professional(not pro basketball) careers.  An 18 y/o may be an adult but they are very rarely mature.

  8. Gonna be interesting to see how he does.  IMO his pro prospects are not great.  He’s a slower deanthony Thomas.  He is a good but not great college player.  Maybe he will prove me wrong at Kentucky..... but I doubt it.

I truly want Frost to succeed.  I have some concerns, but hoping for the sake of turning NU around the switch gets flipped and he's here a long time.  I do no longer believe the mantra "If not Frost, then who"....A lot of good coaches out there.

The difference with frost is he wouldn’t use this as a means to a better job.   I think many coaches would

Discounting Betts' touchdown, McCaffrey went 12/20 for 107 yards. Frost and Crouch hit that yardage normally with far fewer passes. We will not be even close to elite doing what we're doing now, unable to stretch the field. Press coverage will kill us, evidenced by how PSU shut us down in the second half. McCaffrey was primarily a receiver in high school, and I'm not saying Martinez is any better. Our offensive line is blowing blocking assignments all over the place,  unsure who they are supposed to double on, and when to move up. Do you know what our best running play is so far this season? A counter play to McCaffrey, from under center, against Ohio State.

Mills is no Ozigbo, but he's played fullback before, and I liken Wandale to a Keith 'end zone' Jones, shiftier even. Are you prepared to tell me it's better to run him between the tackles inside the 15 on a zone read than with a lead blocker?

Frost and crouch also had one of the best running attacks in the country that the other team was solely focused on.

And if Day doesn't score that garbage-time touchdown the scores are only off by one TD.

I understand you're not trying to draw an equivalence between Nebraska and Penn State, but you make a point that I also thought of - and that's that we are possibly trending in the right direction.

Now we just need to keep building on that and keep getting better. "Day by day," as the saying goes.

The difference in the games come down to the fumbles... esp the one by AM.
