IMO Piper working at center is somewhat telling. He and Cam are our most talented young interior linemen. Doesn't  make sense to have both at center unless they think Cam's injury issues are likely to persist. Wouldn't  mind seeing Wilson there if he can snap consistently. His experience could come in handy.

Or they want him to be able to play multiple positions.  One of the key advantages of that athleticism.

Well, you could ask Frost, because it's pretty high on his list.

I'd be pretty sure there are quite a few more plays where a RB takes it to the house than bulldozes his way for 15 yards.

Exactly.  They got ozigbo (who was known as being anything but a homerun hitter)to do it numerous times last year

It's impossible for Nebraska's offensive to surprise anyone, with all the yapping you Husker fans do.  We already know that you have a Heisman-quality quarterback and the best WR in the Big Ten!

Those 2 will almost certainly end their careers as the statistically best in Nebraska history at their position. Barring injury of course/transfer so on.

The way they rave about Cam, he’s not going anywhere, and I doubt the position will really be locked up. If both guys happen to be really good after this season, I’m guessing they’ll both play and possibly at different positions on the OL. Assuming Cam stops injuring his feet.

Who else do we have at center?

It's always easier in camp for the defense. Our run D should be light years of where it was last year. I think the question comes down to guys especially OLBs to make some distruptive plays for sacks, hurries.

The thing that I think is forgotten is  they don’t have to be great. They just need to not be terrible.  Stop the run and create some turnovers.  I think they can do that.  It doesn’t need to be pretty.  The O is gonna do its thing.  As a chiefs fan it’s the same thing with them.

Yes and no with this comment.

Coming off back to back 4-8 seasons I would be ecstatic for 8 wins.

We were 4-8 last year but that was with everything going wrong.  I think with better breaks we win 6-9 games.  That changes expectations of this year. IMO I look at last years team more like a 6 win team and I think 8 wins is a reasonable expectation unless we have Murphy’s law happen again.

I betcha last year was a generous 190 and reality was closer to 175 by looking at him. Let's see what he looks like this year.

if that is the case that is fine.  he was too light last year

Their 2011 team was loaded and still sucked without Tressel.  Anyone who thinks losing Urban doesn't hurt them is kidding themselves.  They are an 8-9 win team in 2019.

Unless day is also a generation type coach.  It's unlikely but possible.   We got lucky like that once.

I think this is largely an overblown talking point among fans. I'm not saying it's irrelevant, just that it gets more attention than it deserves.

Nebraska just flat out hasn't had the dudes or the coaching to seriously compete in the B1G. So, if I had to assign concern levels, Nebraska not going up against offenses like Wisc. or Iowa's in practice is pretty low. The Huskers had success against those teams at times last year. Size and strength was still definitely an issue, but we also had guys just straight up blowing assignments too often.

Their defenses shouldn't match up against our  offense either. We need to get the right guys in and execute.   The rest will take care of itself.

If the facts of Purdue & Wisconsin's average recruiting rankings over roughly the last 5ish seasons aren't relevant in terms of the point you thought you

I guess I needed to elaborate on my position so that everyone can clearly understand what I'm trying to say.  Would say we are situated somewhere in between the other Big Ten West teams and the elite schools in the Big Ten. Granted we might be ever so slightly closer to the elite schools then the rest of the Big Ten West, but I don't think anybody who is watching our games with argue the fact that we need to be much closer to the elite schools and further away from the Big Ten West. That was all that I was saying. I would also argue that bringing up recruiting stats from schools that have drastically changed their coaching staff is not the most relevant information.
