  1. Then do you think NU has the wrong coach/team? It just seems to me that BC was just carrying out a west coast game plan that never really got off the ground.
  2. So you think the plan was what we saw, i.e., keep it on the ground 90% of the time, no intention for run/pass balance? I'm wondering if circumstances and the USC defense made the Huskers one dimensional or if that was intentional. Actually, I think the plan was to establish the run to setup the play action pass. With Callahan, I think the idea is to have some kind of balance in every game. The times we did try to throw we had limited success. 50%. That's gotta be upwards of 60 to 65 percent. That seems like a good plan, no?? Problem is, what does one do if circumstances or a defense throws a wrench in the works.
  3. So you think the plan was what we saw, i.e., keep it on the ground 90% of the time, no intention for run/pass balance? I'm wondering if circumstances and the USC defense made the Huskers one dimensional or if that was intentional. I agree that BC stuck to his plan, but I wonder if he ever got to execute it fully.
  4. So many Husker fans are upset about the game plan. I'm not as cynical about BC's play calling as many on here, however, I did expect to see ZT air it out some. I wonder if we never got to see the whole plan due to the way the game unfolded, i.e., penalties, turnovers, USC'd defensive calls etc. Just a thought. Heck, USC was tough.
  5. I don't have enough information to know if it was a good plan or not. I hoped we would pass more, but I'm not convinced BC had an ureasonable or unworkable plan. I'm also not convinced alternative plans would have been better. USC was is very good.
  6. Bill, please read the posts on here so you will know how to coach, call plays, and play to win.
  7. You make more sense than most the Husker fans around here. I wish the Husker defender wouldn't have dropped that potential interception on your 5. That would have given the Trojans some anxiety.
  8. I hope BC is reading this board so he'll learn how to call future games.
  9. P.S. I also think this talk of letting down the kids or the kids loosing faith is silly. If the Huskers are champions they'll com out of this fighting. I think they will....
  10. The biggest problem I see here is that unrealistic fan expectations haven't been met. The Huskers, who are still in rebuilding mode, get beat by one of the best teams in the nation, with the best recruiting in the nation, and ya'll want to quit. USC was a better team folks. I thought we would pass more but maybe all that would have done was give USC more opportunities to shred our secondary. They looked on the verge of blowing us out the whole game. Ya gotta look at the big picture and be in it for the long haul rather than going apey over 1 game. There were seasons where some fans wanted to get rid of Osborne. Looking back, that whould have been stupid.
  11. If NU makes the Trojans glad to get out alive I'll be happy. If they win ..... I'll freak.
  12. History? For all the excitement, the 'skers are still a work in progress. We will see how much progress on Saturday. I think we're better than most realize, and even better, we're going in the right direction.
  13. Rivals is reporting that BC announced Mann will not play against USC.
  14. and yet we're ranked No. 65th in rush defense against those two teams ...and very few points. Running in circles with no production doesn't count for much.
  15. 1) Holding back? I don't think the Husker's are hiding anything. I think they haven't needed to use much to get the job done. They haven't been challenged. 2) The defence will have to be a different animal against USC. For N to win, the D-line will have to throw a wrench in the backfield. I expect we will see the defence putting a lot of pressure on Booty. Or at least I hope so.
  16. The Huskers are on the way back and have the potential to make a real good game of it. I was at the last meeting of SC and NU. I believe SC was #1 at the time and NU ended the season #1, if I remember correctly. SC should win this one, but the Huskers could pull a big surprise. I think they're definitely on the rise. If the Huskers play their best they could pull off an upset. I'd be happy if we at least scare the #$@$ out of you guys!!
  17. I've been lurking around this board for close to a year and with all the good things happening with Cornhusker football decided it's time to join. I was born and grew up in Omaha. Did post graduate work at UNO, Texas A&M and Texas. I remember the height of the Bob Devaney era and saw the NU vs USC game from down near the field at the 50 yard line back in 70 or 71. I think SC was rated #1 going into that game and NU tied them. I actually thought we could have won that one. I remember the "game of the century" but unfortunately was not at the stadium for that one. I sort of stopped watching after Osborne resigned cuz it got too depressing to watch the Huskers loose just about every big game I could get on TV. However, THE HUSKERS ARE BACK.
