  1. A good point I saw made recently is that not a whole lot of top ten DTs have really lived up to their expectations. By not a lot, I really mean none in the past say, fifteen years+. So the odds are actually against Suh, for all the talent that he is, to live up to that lofty financial investment of a #1 pick.

As for news that the Rams are in talks with Suh, I think it might be to gain leverage against Bradford in negotiating a contract. Sometimes the teams have a couple players they have contracts in place for at the #1 spot, and pick one. It's a plus of being the #1 draft pick, you get to have your contract pretty much in place.

I guess the opinion is just that Bradford is a franchise QB. Maybe. If so, they'll strike gold. If Suh is the first top 10 DT in a generation to dominate the game as one of the NFL's premier DTs, then that still won't be striking gold - they'll just have a good DT.

On the other hand, the Lions have their franchise QB. They got a nice pick in Louis Delmas last year in the 2nd round at safety and need to add more pieces to their team. I think Suh fits that bill more than he fits the Rams, where they need pretty much everything. Suh is good, but he needs to be on a good DL, too.

Another thing is scheme wise, he wasn't asked to take over the game at Nebraska. As in, he was coached to read and react, etc. I wonder if he'll struggle if teams ask him to do that in the NFL. He did mention before that teams in the NFL learned a different scheme and he's up for the challenge of learning it. I'm sure he is, I just wonder if we'll see as astonishing results.

Heard that the Lions don't have a ton of interest in Suh, FWIW.

Of course not, they are looking for their 10th first round QB.

Wasn't last year the first time in 5 years or so the Lions didn't pick a wide receiver in the 1st round?

  2. I don't see why this looks bad for us? Owamagbe said from the start of things that he was more than likely going to announce on signing day. I think a lot of you got this delusional thought in your head that because he said if it felt right, he might commit to a school earlier than that, that it cemented it as fact. Truth is, he's doing exactly what he had intended to do all along. So, why would that spell disaster for us? He had a great in home with Bo and the coaches and obviously loves everything about us.

If he's going to pick us, he's going to pick us, timeframe has nothing to do with it.

  3. I couldn't stand the guy if we're being honest here. He's a husker through and through, but I'd find myself getting very annoyed while watching him on Big Red Wrap Up. He's routinely mess up someone's name or say something that wasn't true, and what he was talking about, was common sense stuff that anyone would know.

Thanks for your service Mr. Fiala.

  4. I agree completely with PJ and I love Eric as much as any player on D but I think it might be another year before we see Mr. Martin starting at MLB. The coaches have said he doesn't know the defense well enough to be the guy out there calling plays. Let's just hope he works hard over the off-season so he does start b/c I can't wait for him to be on the field every play.

I'm also very excited to see if Thad Randle gets any playing time next year.

I forgot about Randle. Wow, we definitely have some depth on the D-line, don't we? In spite of Randle's potential, I don't see him getting significant PT till 2011. Did he get any PT last season?

    He redshirted last season.

  5. Losing Chris Williams sucks...but if a kid doesn't have his head in the game and the books and is more focused on doing drugs, he's doing more damage to the team as a whole.

I don't know if this is true, but if it is...good riddance.

  6. I've read at various boards that Owa's mother liked UCLA because of the tight-knit Nigerian community in L.A. She also bonded with other parents of Nigerian student/athletes while visiting UCLA with Owa on his official. So apparently having a Nigerian mentor/community is important to her.

His mom also probably liked UCLA because that school is freaking AWESOME!!! Okay, I'm a bit biased since that's my alma mater.

    ;)

I would love to have gone to UCLA.................the cheerleaders alone would have sold me! :leghump:

Is that asian girl at the bottom topless??? Nice!!

(disclaimer: For the cynics....I know she's not.)

  7. Hey man, I appreciate all your insightful comments about Husker basketball. You know your stuff.

Not enough people on here appreciate or are into basketball like they are football. It's almost kinda sad, if you can support one husker sport so passionately, why not all of them?

It's nice to know there's another husker hoops lover out there.

Anyway, my observations of this team so far is that they are young and inexperienced (obvious), but there is a lot of potential.

This is one of those teams that will take its lumps this year but then develop enough depth to make a run at the sweet 16 next year.

Jeter, QHC, Holley, CS, Gallegos, Diaz and Ubel will all get better. We'll get Toney McCray back and Brandon Richardson will continue to be a solid sixth man.

I'm hoping for the best this year, but next year is when the Big 12 really needs to take notice.

  8. No, I figured you were laughing at me, however, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt by saying you were laughing at what you were saying, because if you go through this entire brain killing bicker, I've said nothing that would warrant you to laugh at me. Just stuff that puts you in your place.

People on this board do this to you all the time, and then your little 5 year old defene mechanism turns on and you start spouting little one liners with a laughing icon to try and make it sound like you're the superior in this.

I'll give it to ya. You win the argument of me...not spelling...quarterback or something....nice job. Way to point it out.

you are still batting .000. Nice work. :rollin

I am to you, and to me, that means nothing.

Who knows what goes on in your head.

    Glad I don't.

  10. However, if Lee comes back healthy, Green will have his work cut out for him to steal the job. 10-4 with three losses by a combined four points is pretty impressive for a guy playing with an injured throwing arm all season.

I could play Quartberback and get 10 wins with the that defense.

Hell you can't even spell Quarterback. What makes you think you play the position and get a win let alone ten wins?

    :LOLtartar at you.

You're right, my spelling directly affects how I would handle playing in a football game. But way to play the grammar nazi bit in this thread. That's always appreciated.

And of course I don't think I could win ten games, I'm not a quarterback. My statement merely meant that our defense was so good, a below average QB (Zac Lee) could line up behind center and pull out ten wins. Did ya get that? Sorry if you don't understand sarcasm.

I guess with you constantly reminding people how awesome you are because you pheasant hunt and work out, deciphering what people really mean is lost on you.

So here's some help. I was being "sarcastic." Ya know? For instance, if I were to say "Vince from Shamwow is a cool guy who everyone likes" obviously I would be using sarcasm and would then insert :sarcasm

Sorry I forgot to put that in my last post.

We all know you need the extra attention.

:rollin Lift your skirt then reach between your legs and un-twist your panties. :rollin . After you've done that, run a get me a beer.

That's the best you got? Resorting to the untwist my panties insult? I'll tell ya, you're really slackin' here in your old age.

And how does one run a "a get me a beer?" Not familiar with that play. Oh wait, you must've made a grammatical error. Which is how this whole stupid argument started.

    Get over yourself.

    Is that some sort of

It's better than you deserve. :rollin

It's healthy you can laugh at your own jokes. At least one person finds them funny.
