  1. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I wonder who you are talking about??????????????????

Does it rhyme with former ban??

DING DING DING. We have a winner! :clap

That's funny. I must be this Former Fan character because I........make a post or two similar to his/hers? Or because I am critical after a loss? Maybe Hunter94 or Nate is Former Fan?

If that's the case, then you, huskerinock, bigrediowan, DaveH, newearthhusker, and gamecocks must be the same person, because you all say the samething.

  2. Maybe he knew that if they went 3 wide and tried to pass Taylor would get his head knocked off. USC had a pretty big push up front and Taylor didn't have very much time. If you didn't notice when we did pass he had to roll out to give himself more time.

Maybe they should try and get a mobile qb to neutralize the pass rush. Again, a failure in philosophy.

If we would have went out and threw the ball all over the place some people would be saying "Why didn't we try to run the ball more?"

I guess we will never know because the coaches didn't even try.

I'm sure Callahan wanted to lose this game. Give me a break.

He certainly didn't call the game to win it.

There are so many arm-chair Quarterbacks in this world it is stupid....You people drive me crazy

I guess I was wrong when I thought that this is what Huskerboard was for  Or, is that only when you heap praise upon the team?

  3. Keep in mind, in your offensive game planning, that USC will drop 8 people into coverage routinely.

    Run draws

I would have like to have seen more passing too, but I would have hated to see what the score was if Taylor throws a few INT's....

At least TRY!!!!!! If the running game doesn't, and the passing game doesn't, then your screwed.

And to those who keep talking about that gameplan was sound, but poor execution due to "pentalties and turnovers" NU had 5 penalties (USC had 7) and 1 turnover.

    Throw another BS card.

  4.

He also contradicted himself by saying that "We did what we planned to do to win the football game. We knew that we could come in and run the football." (Yeah, for only 1.9 yds per carry? :wtf ) 2 sentences later-"Again, let me be very clear, we wanted to run the football, and in a tough environment llike this, it's a real challenge to do that."

I don't get how that is contradicting himself? What's your angle?

    What don't you get?

He said "We knew we could run..." and then said that "in an evironment such as this it was going to be tough."

    Which one is it?

  5. I think this article will fuel anger from a lot of casual fans.

Anything angers those fans. I mean anything.

If the opposition doesn't have 0 points and 5 total yards and NU doesn't have at least 45 points, it's the worst game in 10 years. It get's old.

    Excuses get old.

They were FAST on defense. It was amazing how we ran into a wall every time we tried running outside.

True, and NU is not. NU will never get to the promised land with this Big 10 like defensvie philosophie. We need faster, not bigger, LB's, DT's and DE's.

  6. Call me crazy... but the National Title is still out there for us. It's ONLY ONE loss...

Remember that after the ugly shut-out in Tempe, Frost learned the angles of the option, and we improved- and CLIMBED IN THE POLLS EACH WEEK.

Had we won the Big XII CG (a loss more to the flu rather than Texas- half the team had it), we would have been right back in the BCS title game.

Can this team beat Texas? Yes. OU? Yes. Lose to Missouri? Yes.

Bottom line is- it's not done by any means. We still have Troy and the Big XII to take care of.

One loss.. you need help; TWO - you're done...

Sure, but will BC give up on that game, too?

  7. I have to throw the BS card in here. You really need to stop making excuses for the way that the coaches gave up.

Do you really think that "pounding the rock" against a team who was weakest in its secondary was the way to go?

In the World Herald today, BC said that "We had chances, but we just didn't execute." Excuse me, had chances like what, when NU got the ball back with almost 3 minutes in the first half, he ran 3 straight run plays to run the clock? B.S.

Hell, even Frank the Tank would have tried to get a screen pass, or get on the corner with his qb.

  8. i don't think anyone is hating or doubting, but tonight's showing was awful. i don't blame the players, i blame the coaching. that was national television against a big time opponent, and all u do is run up the middle over & over, ohh yea and the few times we tried to run around the end against one of the fastest defenses in the country. c'mon that is not the right plan for this game. i don't understand it??

I agree. I thought that one of the reasons Solich was fired and BC was brought in was to get a coach who runs the "dynamic" West Coast Offense.....only to call a game plan that made Solich look like a disciple of Steve Spurrier.

  9. how many days did we have to gameplan??

As one poster commented, BC has been breaking down film of USC in anticipation of this game since he got here, that would be 3 years.

And this was the best he could do :wtf

Ah from a poster? Hmmm and just exactly what proof did he have of this? Hell I can say all the sh#t I want on here but doesn't mean its true or correct! I thought even you wouldn't believe all you read on here! :LOLtartar

    I don't.

It was something that StuckinChicago said, that someone he knows who is "very close friends of BC" had said.

I don't know if it's true or not, but if you want to call out SiC, then that is between the 2 of you.

  10. I was never raised as a proud nebraskan to roll over and die, I would expect the same from a coach that runs the program everyone in or from my favorite state looks to as a way of life.

That is part of the problem, BC really doesn't understand. He can read all the books he wants, and act as if he as become acclimated to Nebraska, but I don't think he could ever truly understand.

You live with that, thats your choice, you roll over and die, but this marine shall never roll over and die.

Thank you sir, for the sacrifices you made to this great country. :thumbs

  11. Would you rather lose by 18 or 60?

I would rather lose not at all, but aside from that, I would like to have at least TRIED to win.

What did BC say on big red reaction or whatever it's called? I'd like to see how he defends his gameplan.

You can bet it will be the same old politician/coachspeak--aka alot of words, no meaning.

  12. How do you know Carroll's game plan wasn't to hang 50 or more points on us but Caly's play calling prevented it.  So we lost...to the #2 team in the nation....by only 18 points.  Its not the end of the season

Only a true loser would take that point of view.

Listen people, its not THAT NU lost, it's HOW they lost. BC didn't coach the game to win, he coached not to get blown out. By doing that, he is not displaying leadership. Seeing that Taylor and some of the others were pissed, I hope he doesn't lose this team, too.

IF he even would have tried for one quarter, two series, anything, to exploit the weakness of their defense, I would give him a pass on it. But besides the touchdown drive (which worked well) he never did.

  13. No I can see what your saying I guess I'm just playing the devils advocate so to speak!!! I can't say that I don't disagree with his play calling because I do!!!! I would have came out firing the ball out to our receivers and made the USC defensive secondary stop us!!! Until they stopped us I would continue to throw the ball. But, having said that he definately wants everyone to know that we have a running game and to not take that for granted!!!! :dunno

I agree with you on that!

As far as can NU have a good season. Certainly, but it depends on how "good season" is defined. At a bare minimum, if NU doesn't win the North, the season is a failure.

It seems like NU still has not gotten back to the level of the elite, unfortunately.
