I actually thought POB moved pretty well the two times he played. Watching some of UCF games their quarterback wasn't a speed demon but ran the offense well. I think POB can be that guy.

Maybe not a speed demon, but was fairly quick and elusive.  POB, or even Gebbia may be able to to pull off just enough mobility to be effective in Frost's offense, but I don't think Lee has a chance.  However,  IMO the ideal QB is still yet to be seen.

Since I was banned to get sent back to 247, I had to make this new account, which will obviously get banned too, in order to explain what I know, how I know it, and why I have such strong belief in Scott Frost.

Firstly, it is disrespectful to post the city and state where I post from. Shame on that poster. Not cool at all. Secondly, I am a female. No Jessica isn't my real name. I was born and raised in Nebraska and so was my husband. My husband works at the clinic. If you search the directly at the local clinic you will find me and my husband. We have our birth location, our education, etc, in our profiles in the directory.

My husband knows the Frost family on a personal level. That is where I have gotten my information from. He has always wanted to be the head caoch at Nebraska. It IS his dream school. Yes the offer from UNL is real. Just not signed yet. Yes, Florida offered Frost and he turned it down for the Nebraska offer. Yes UCF will offer him a new contract. I already told you that will happen. He isn't going to sign it though. Yes TN got told no from Frost.

Talk to Mavric if you want to complain about the person who banned me when I never broke a board rule. I have never posted here in the past. Yes there are other Nebraska fans in town. I know three people in this town that are proud Nebraska fans.

i am most likely in the minority here, but I have appreciated the time spent looking at tweets, other boards, sources etc.and posting them here.  I can decide what I want to believe or not to believe and in no way interpreted what your were doing as being a troll.

The guys on the other teams hit the weight room, too.  It's not like the 1980s when Nebraska was one of the few teams dedicating major time to building strength.

I know we all like to armchair quarterback everything about the team, but unless we're in the weight room with Philipp and the players, it's possible we wouldn't know what we're talking about with threads like this.

Of course we don't know....but when you look at the O line, it certainly does not pass the eye test.

Serious question. Does it matter if Riley is fired now or in two weeks?

I don't think so. Nebraska will be underdogs against both Penn State and Iowa regardless of who the head coach is. I seriously doubt that firing Riley now will make any difference in who the next head coach is.

With all that said though, I wouldn't have any issue if they canned Riley today.

I think the only thing that firing Riley now would accomplish is making the fan base feel a little better about two weeks early. However, that is not going to speed up the coaching search,  change anything or make a difference with who the next HC is as you have said.  The timeline remains the same....we will know who our new HC is after their bowl game.

  5. POB has the ability to scramble for a few yards unlike Lee.

Spielman runs great routes, has sure hands and gives it his all on every play..... he is the bright spot on the offense.

Our O Line makes me want to puke... it soooo bad.

    Our entire D is embarrassing.

Tackling.....it looks more like we practiced at all the different ways to miss tackles.

There is no fire on the team at all and zero leadership trying keep the team motivated.

Special team on kicks needs serious work.

I don't think you understood the point of my post about the cognitive dissonance of the folks who lose their proverbial minds over kneeling during the anthem and claim it is an insult to the military will then turn around and support a President who attacks POW's, War Widows and Gold Star families.

Kneeling in solidarity with victims of racism = insult to military

President attacking military members and families = Just fine.

The kneel is to bring awareness about institutional racism, like Betty Shelby for example. She shoots and kills an unarmed black man who was having car problems. She gets off on the charges and has that fatal shooting removed from her record. That's why they're kneeling. Or the reaction from the fire chief who called Mike Tomlin "A no good N*****."

A protest isn't supposed to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. It's a first amendment right, and you either believe in it implicitly or you don't.

    Your example makes no sense.

I chose to address only the first part of your statement that dealt with kneeling and not the rest.  I should have bolded that to be more clear.

I am done with this thread now.

  7. 10 minutes ago, Fru said:

I wish the crowd that is so upset about the kneel being anti-military (it's not), would be equally upset about our President who attacks POW's, war widows and Gold Star families.

I am not sure you fully understand why people are upset at the kneeling.  Maybe I don't, who knows?  Many have zero problem with protesting and actually support it.  Its the manner in which they have chosen to do it they makes people upset.  Many believe in the tradition of standing for the anthem as way of showing respect for our country and the sacrifices made.

As an example to try and make my point......most consider weddings to be sacred and a cherished event.  If I were to go into your wedding and kneel or protest in someway, does it make it okay?  If I just  say "it is not meant to be disrespectful", does that mean the wedding was not some how effected and tarnished?  I think respecting the players right to protest but asking them to find another way besides something that people cherish is a good middle ground/compromise.  By kneeling during the anthem, it all comes across as my beliefs are more important than yours.

We don't all have to think alike, but we all must find ways to effectively communicate and compromise if we are going to have a functioning society.

Are people seriously complaining about minorities peacefully protesting the poor treatment of their community by law enforcement and the government through kneeling during a song that admonishes slaves for joining the British during the war of 1812 because the British promised slaves freedom? GOOD GOD your lives must be pathetic. How does this affect your life in any shape or form?

Can the mods move this to the Politics forum?

    Way to lash out.

One way of dealing with a racist verse in the national anthem's song is to avoid singing it, while continuing to lionize its author as a real American Patriot and to glorify that time he put these words, including the third verse, to paper.

Another way is to choose something else as our national emblem, because our choice reflects who we are and what we stand for. There's a reasonable debate to be had here.

@Dewiz, I think some of us prefer to live our lives with our eyes open, instead of reflexively clinging to every tradition and insisting on its merits while rejecting all forms of reflection. I was taught this crazy idea growing up that this capacity for introspection -- and this commitment to the values we profess -- were the kinds of things that made America great.

Perhaps there there are many reasonable debates to be had.  However, they need to be had be reasonable people.  Unfortunately, there are far too many that are bringing these historical "offenses"  to light, that have no interest in being reasonable.  A throw out the baby with bath water mentality if you will.  I do not subscribe to the "you must think like me and agree with me" mentality that is invading our society.  I want reasonable discussions with those that are wiling to listen, but usually lashing out and violence seems to be the first steps.  Why does everything have to be about choosing a side now?  Most likely because people are losing their ability to be reasonable and engage in honest communication.

I believe they have a point regarding the third verse.

Its never sung.  If one person on a team  offends someone, does it make the whole team bad?  No. Does one bad apple from a whole bushel make them all bad?  No.  You simply remove the bad apple.  In the case of the anthem, you do not sing that verse.

Why would anyone advocate never singing the national anthem?  It's perfectly appropriate for things like Veteran's Day events, Inaugurations, Independence Day events, Memorial Day, President's Day events, international sporting events like the Olympics or the World Cup, when foreign dignitaries visit... there are hundreds of times when the Anthem is appropriate.

By playing it before every single game it loses its meaning to many Americans and that's a shame. It shouldn't be this rote thing that we mouth the words to and forget, it should be reserved and special.  Look around at a baseball game, or a football game, when the Anthem is played.  Especially before this huge uproar was created over kneeling, you could easily see half the crowd looking at their phones, talking, staring off into space...

It may seem like I'm saying the Anthem isn't special.  It's actually the opposite.  I'd like to see it become something more special.

I certainty hope that no one would advocate for never singing it, but I am sure there are those that would. I understand your point that it may be over done and has lost it meaning to many. Your suggestion of national holidays and other special events is good, but can be left up to event organizers to choose if they want it or not.  I fear it it would die over time.  The game time anthem is a tradition that is embedded into the fabric of our society, and even though some don't care, look at their phones etc etc, its still means something to many.  If we start giving up our traditions in the county, what is next?

I love football and I love our country too. But I don't think those things go together.

We sing the national anthem before every. single. game. College, Pro, High School.  Before every baseball game, every basketball game, blah blah blah. But while I love those games and I love my country - and I actually like singing the anthem - the anthem doesn't go with sports.  It doesn't belong, and is a weird add-on.

If we sing the anthem before games because we love our country, why don't we sing it before we do other things that are equally unrelated to football?

Why don't we sing the anthem before we eat dinner?

Why don't we sing the anthem before we have sex?

Why don't we sing the anthem before we mow the lawn?

Why don't we sing the anthem before we start our work day?

Why don't we sing the anthem before we change our oil?

Why don't we sing the anthem before we go to bed?

Why don't we sing the anthem before we vote?

Why don't we sing the anthem before we buy a car?

Why don't we sing the anthem before we watch a movie?

Why don't we sing the anthem before we start church service?

Think about how weird it would be to do that before any of these events.  But they're all as unrelated to the anthem as sporting events.

It's not "weird" to me.  I think its great to have a time honored tradition that reminds us our great county and the sacrifices that have been made.  If not at a sporting event, then when?  You eliminated almost everything looking at your list.  Perhaps never?

This would put us at #11 in the country for coaches salary at 4.8 mil. Much better than #41. Shows that its time to open the checkbook to get a winning coach in place.

i agree.  Open the checkbook and get a PROVEN coach.  However, all to often schools have gotten burned when they opened the check book and got  today's flavor for a coach that proved worthless in the end.  McElwain comes to mind.

Of course I realize that PROVEN coaches looking for work are not exactly in abundance.

He makes one bad decision after another. Just because he can't recruit doesn't excuse his horrible decision making.

Please gives us examples of Fitz making "one bad decision after another".  I know his clock management was poor towards the end of the first half, but I disagree with him being a bad coach.  As others have said, he does more with less.

The game was over when it even went to OT.  We all know that.  That's what this program is.

I think Langs lost the game at the end of the fourth qtr.  We are at mid field with a 1st down.....instead of playing to move the chains by getting a few yards on each down and going for a last second field goal, he wastes a down by going deep down the sidelines.  Now, perhaps that was Tanners decision and there were multiple reads, but I would still blame Langs for giving him that option.  Langs and Cav should have been gone when our not so "special" teams coordinator was let go.

What is the team's identity on O/D?  I was just thinking that yesterday.  I dont think they have one, personally.  They haven't done any one thing particularly well.  New coach, whether it's Frost or some other dude, will (hopefully) GIVE them an identity -- mold the guys into something.  It will take time, but i think we understand that.  Focusing on fundamentals first will be the key to start the engine.

Can Dazed and Confused be an identity?
