  1. 1. We still lack discipline.  I cant believe the amount of dumb costly penalties.

    2. Even taking injuries into account, our O line needs help.

    3. Basic fundamentals like tackling and blocking are lacking.  I lost track of how missed tackles we had.

    4. We lack fire in the belly.

    5. Our receivers drop the ball too much.  I am happy they infected Purdue's receivers though, which contributed to us winning the game.

    6. De"Monay does not look confident as a return man. He is not the same as his first year.

    1. Tanner Lee continues to improve and had a nice performance.

    2. Jalin Bradley was impressive, I hope we see much more of him!

    3. The team did not quit.

    4.  Our screen game showed a hint of improvement. It did not look as awkward and unpracticed as it usually does.

Overall, I am a bit disappointed in the team coming off a buy week as we still looked unprepared.  However, I am VERY excited that our Huskers won!

Maybe it's misdirection and they're going to YOLO bomb Purdue instead.  That actually seems plausible now that I typed it out.

Not sure what our YOLO success rate has been over the years but I suspect its pretty low.  But, as many times as we seem to keep going back to it, maybe I am wrong?  It reminds me of a gambling addict who is always trying to "win it back".  YOLO failed again..... but I know it going to work "next" time.

To be fair it is year 1 in this scheme.

Do people really believe only our coaches talk about players not executing to the media? Ridic.

I think the POTUS is the biggest tool ever and a true embarrassment and everyday people are cherry picking quotes out of the things he says to try and run their agenda. It's silly.

I get it. It is beyond aggravating to watch Wisconsin run 17 straight running plays and we can't stop it. Or to watch Ohio State score TD's every freaking time they have the ball! Our athletes don't look physically competitive. Is it recruiting? coaching? scheme? Developing talent? Strength and conditioning? Culture? All of it?

Husker football is a pretty pathetic shell of itself but these quotes don't mean anything one way or the other.

  4. I love Stanley.  However, he is like a roller coaster and the game of golf - a series of ups and downs.  One minute I am amazed by the catches he is able to make and then let down as he drops a well placed pass.

  5. I always have hope that we win but it is tempered with reality.  I like bits and pieces of our team, but overall I just don't think we are a good team.  Even though the defense is trending up, I am not sold at this point, as we have not really played a good team.

I think Wisky will bring  pressure most of the game and rattle TL.  Our O line still baffles me for many reasons.....they are the by far the weakest link on the team IMO.  Our D only seems effective when they bring pressure.  They looked like rock stars against an Illinois team that really did not focus on passing the ball much.  Our secondary has not impressed; Eric Lee needs to work on getting his head around when the ball is in the air.

As I have said, I have hope but I can't say I feel good about this game and the rest of the season.

  6. Earn my trust back....Stop embarrassing Husker Nation.  Our team looks soft, mistake prone and undisciplined.  That all on the coaches.  I want to see a hungry team on the field that doesn't consistently shoot themselves in the foot.  To do that he needs to clean house and get a few new assistant coaches.

    Cav -gone

    DL-gone

Diaco get more time but I am not impressed with his soft style of play so far.

Riley needs also needs to pull his head out of his ### and figure out special teams.

Last, its obvious to me that other coaches have done their homework on us and find our week spots each week.  I never get the feeling Riley does that.  It always looks to me like the same predictable, boring, mistake prone play each week.  Fix that also and he may earn my trust back.

  7. Set high goals that are tempered with reasonable expectations.

Goals do not need to be accomplished immediately, but establishing a timeline in accordance with expectations should be done.

As you move forward, never forget to raise expectations and set higher goals.

Compromise is a great thing and should be considered with many things, but integrity is not one them. Lack of integrity is like a bad attitude, it can be contagious.

Winning a championship with integrity compromises would feel like cheating at Monopoly when playing with my kids.

-Yeah, I won....but the victory will seem empty.

  8. Call us soft or call us whatever. We had people in position to make tackles 20 times which would have gotten us off the field and we didn't do it. Soft? More like piss poor technique.

Yes! There was plenty "softness" and lack of fire, but our atrocious tackling the entire game really stood out. We kept hearing about it be emphasized this year while incorporating the rugby style tackling; they must of just watched a video on it and called it good. I saw plenty of those stupid throw my body at them attempts instead of wrapping up along with some other poor technique attempted tackles.

  9.

Langford at least has the excuse of not having his players yet, and we are getting more pro style guys in. Our defense has decent guys here and it doesn't seem like we got better guys coming in. Soooo. Fire banker

So can we criticize Langsdorf for leaving our tackles on a island all night? It only took me a handful of plays to figure out that Gates couldn't handle their DE and we needed to use a TE or RB to help him out.

Yes you are spot on. I think there was a bit of help in the 4th quarter but geez, talk about failure to adjust.

  10. It seems most posters are negative Nancy's. I guess this is one of the only places they can find compatible mates. I was bleeding red before Devaney era began. Social media seems to bring out mostly complainers. Most definetly brings out great arm chair QB's and talent evaluators. NU administration should make all new hires from this board. GBR

Take a chill pill, let's see what Riley and staff can do with talent they bring in. I like this staff (mostly, with a couple exceptions) and what they bring to the table.

I have not been around quite as long as you, but in the ball park. I want to see what Riley and staff can do but frustration sets in when things like the basics of football are just not happening. A coaching staff can put some fire in the bellies of it players and make them believe. Attitudes are contagious and instilling that in players in on the coaches. Fundamentals like a good tackling technique or staying home, leverage etc, that is on the coaches. We all know that talent is important and recruiting has to be emphasis, but coaches need to play with the hands they have right now, and the basics of coaching seem to be lacking.

  11. When rooting for a team I break down my preferences like this:

    1. What ever helps Nebraska

    2. The Big Ten conference

    3. Coaches and programs I respect

    4. Who ever is playing the SEC conference

Ohio St over Clemson - Rule 2

Washington over Alabama - Rules 3&4

Don't stop there! Show Banker the door

I truly am not sure Banker needs to go...
re-watch the OSU and Iowa game and get back to me.

So.... our entire defense missing tackles is the DC's fault?

Ultimately poor/missing tackles does fall back on the coordinator. It falls back on him to teach and practice proper pursuit angles, good tackling technique, and reinforce the importance of good eye discipline, not over pursuing, staying home etc. We saw problems in many of those areas in the Iowa game.

  13. This is more about venting frustration than anything else. Anyone else want to chime in and vent with this format?

    Keep:

    Riley - Head Coach

    Bray - Linebackers

    Davis - Running Backs

    Parrella - Defensive Line

    Stewart - Defensive Backs

    Williams - Receivers

    Jury still out:

    Cavanaugh - Offensive Line

    Thin ice:

    Langsdorf - Offensive Coordinator

    Banker - Defensive Coordinator

    Has to go:

    Reed - Special Teams

  14. 9-3 is a decent season record. It just feels to some of us like a let down because of the blowout loss to OSU and our end of season game loss in which we played pretty sloppy football. If we had been at least competitive in those 2 losses, like we were in the Wisconsin game, perhaps the feeling would be different.
