  1. It doesn't make much sense to me to drop NE to #25 and move VT up to #11 when we beat them everywhere but the scoreboard. Either we're underrated or they're overrated. The great thing about college football is we will find out what is what as VT plays Miami tomorrow.

  2. How about the heartbreaker to Texas in 06'? Pass to Terrance Nunn for the first down and the win. He catches the ball, gets hit and fumbles. Texas drives down and wins the game. I was at that game, cold as hell it was and a long day after to ponder another loss to Texas.

  3. There's a lot of things that we could have done to win that game. I was saying when we were down by 7 that if we can go in and tie it up we need to go for two. I didn't think we could match them in OT so one chance for 3 yards and the win seemed like a good idea to me.

  4. The joys of United Airlines. I recently returned from a trip to Europe where I went to a conference and flew United back from austria. What a joke this flight was. But I did see a guy get arrested by an air marshall for being too intoxicated and disorderly. That was the only good thing about that flight.

That's awesome. They guy probably was paid $100 to change flights and used it all on booze!

  5. It feels like old Nebraska Football again after firing Callahan, getting Dr. Tom back and then the beginning of the Pelini era. The more I think about it the more I'm glad Cally is gone and the more I miss the option offense that Tom Osborne ran. It was truly a fun offense to watch.

  6. I think Bo will stay longer than people think. My reasoning is mostly based on his relationship with Bob Stoops and having spent time in that organization. Bo was able to see first hand the type of success and longevity a coach can have at a University that supports him. Bo is also a big family man and the family atmosphere at Nebraska is a large pull for him.

  7. I read somewhere one of the big 12 coachs I am not sure which one commented on how every week they didnt know how to plan for Bo's defense cause he could change it from week to week.. IMO I like that leave the opps guessing but that also may have been a down side in a few games.. I dont know but I like a coach that makes changes an trys unlike the ones we have now....

That coach was Les Miles. He was commenting on why he hired Pelini.

  8. Let's say I had a favorite steakhouse. Let's say I ate there every Saturday for 30 years, and for 30 years I had great meal after great meal, the next one greater than the last, until finally after 30 years the last dozen or so meals were the most magnificent food I had ever eaten.

Then let's say the Head Chef of the steakhouse retired. They hire a new guy. The food is good for a while, but after a few years you can tell - it's not the same. They're using different spices, or the veal isn't so fresh. So in a fit of pique the owner cans the new chef and goes out to find a new chef.

After a search he says he has found THE GUY. This guy doesn't know how to cook steak to save his life, but he CAN make crudite like nobody's business. So this guy comes in and starts making food. Every Saturday I go in, but clearly the food is not good. It gets worse, it gets worse still, until finally I get food poisoning so bad that I spend a month in the hospital, clinging to life. I get better, and in the meantime the Head Chef fires his sou chef and promises to get a new sou chef, and wants me to come back.

Now, are you telling me that I'm supposed to be happy with this guy because the croutons on my salad were pretty good?

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't eat there again.

And I'll tell you another thing - neither would Tom Osborne.

    :yeah

I really like your analogy, I find it to be rather accurate.

  9. Callahan does deserve respect, it wasn't a lack of effort on the coaching staff that lead to this. From all accounts he works extremely hard which is why it's even more strange why this team has lost 4 in a row. By any account I'm not unhappy to see him go.

  10. gratefulhusker, I know what you mean. It's games like this one that make me feel somewhat good about how the coaching staff got the players to play better. See this makes me feel as if perhaps I've quit on the coaches a little too early. Having said that I'll be happy when Callahan leaves the program as I don't feel this program can continue to make progress under him. The Cornhuskers made me proud once again today. It's the first time and quite a few weeks that I felt they played with great emotion and didn't quit even when they were down by 10 late in the game.

  11. The Watson stuff scares me a little. Dude only had CU's offense rolling that one year. Ya he can likely call plays better than BC but I don't know if that is a huge accomplishment or that we should be pushing him as next-year's OC. But I'd be game for us giving him the reigns for the rest of the season to see what he can do.

It seems that the only thing that people seem to remember about Watson is the 62-36 blowout in 2001. I don't recall his offense being mentioned as something special before or after that. I agree to give him a shot the rest of the year, however I'm really hoping we get rid of this prissy West Coast Offensive next year in favor of the spread offense which I believe is a good balance between the power option attack and WCO.

  12. Is our program at the point where we need to be the testing ground for "possible" future great coaches. The guy may know qb's and offense, but can he lead. Sound like right now he has all of the same qualifications Callahan had when hired.

I believe Tom Osborne was an Offensive Coordinator that was hired in as a first time Head Coach.
