  1. With just an average offense we're undefeated. Un - freaking- defeated folks. It's really unbelievable how bad this husker offense is. I thought it would be a struggle somewhat this year offensively when I looked at the WR depth chart going into fall camp, but never could've imagined this. What a waste of year when the defense finally is formidable.

  2. For losing recruits who've verbally committed. Sure, there's always a risk of a recruit decommitting even if things were going well, however, it's a MUCH greater risk with the way this is going now at the moment. Recruits just aren't going to want to be a part of a program slipping. That's what hurts me the most other than us having 8 turnovers and losing at home to freakin ISU. This really sucks.

  3. "...- Watson said the Huskers will not implement a run package for freshman quarterback Cody Green to take some of the rushing load away from Helu in Burkhead's absence. Watson said Green needs to focus on his job as the backup QB.

“No, no, no, no,” Watson said. “We need him. He's got to be there to help us win games by passing the ball. That's important.”

Green has rushed six times for 79 yards and two touchdowns this year. But according to Watson, Green's running ability is “average, in terms of his overall speed.”

“He's kind of a nifty runner, kind of like Joe (Ganz),” Watson said.

    Wha???????

Uh yeah...back to this....glad someone else took issue with that. That first big run of Cody Green's looked like he covered a lot of distance quickly due to his size so I really question Watson on that one. I'm getting closer and closer to throwing in the towel on our OC. That set of comments is perplexing.

Yeah, those comments by Watson on Green's running ability really stood out to me. I was surprised that nobody brought those up sooner. Heck, nobody is comparing Green to Michael Vick when he was at VaTech or anything. But comparing Green's running ability/style to that of Joe Ganz is perplexing to say the least. Granted I don't get to see Green practice each day, however, from the little I've seen from Green he is a MUCH better/more elusive runner than Ganz. Could Watson possibly be just downplaying Cody's talent purposely because they plan on using his running ability more and involving him in some special packages? I think so. There's no way Watson could possibly believe what he said in that article.

  4. I think offensively their problem right now isn't Watson, but moreso the fact they lack a true gamebreaker/playmaker. Other than Helu, who really strikes fear into opposing defenses from NU's offense? Nobody. Teams are stacking the box and forcing Lee to beat them and he's struggling as a result. Some of it is his ineffectiveness and some of it is lack of playmakers.

This may be true but do you really think that Nebraska will ever be able to recruit the type of playmakers that USC and Florida and Texas have? I for one do not think so. We will be able to recruit nice, good players at the wide receiver position and we might be able to snag a top notch QB and RB every now and then. What we can do is recruit big bad linemen who will open up massive holes for our nice RB's who can then run HARD. You dont have to recruit a playmaker at RB to get him to run HARD. This is what Nebraska has always done and needs to continue to do.

I agree. Yeah, NU will most likely never be able to stockpile NFL talent at the skill positions, however, if they keep winning and getting more and more national exposure for it I think they can reel in a few big ones. And when you add just a couple big time playmakers with what NU has coming in for lineman(plus along with the other things you alluded to) things will really improve offensively IMO.

  6. Pelini's headset throw was better than most of Lee's throws today. Cant call out a coach when his players HOLD, THROW PATHETIC PASSES to wide open WR, and have a TD not reviewed (may not have counted, but should have been caught if you are at a big time DI school).

Put the blame where it needs to be......players making too many mistakes in crucial areas at crucial times.

The bottom line is the offense lacks big time speed. There's no one that can get open and separate. It sucks to watch a bunch of possession recievers run around covered like blankets. Niles Paul really isn't thta fast folks. He's about a 4.6 in the 40 at best. we need more speed.

  7. Jesus Christ, are you kidding? I need a vacation from this place. Everyone seems to think we should have Percy Harvin at every WR position and Adrian Peterson at RB.

Yeah, we need more speed. Niles Paul just isn't a game breaker. He's really not that fast folks. He ran a 11 flat in the 100 in high school that isn't that fast.

  8. 16. Husker Jen and me will finally met and fall in love move into my fat pad on (well two miles away) from the beach... regardless of any obsticles in our way

    <_<

No worries. His grammatical errors are a huge turn-off for her :clap

hey why's everyone shooting down my internet game... :clap:nanalama:wtf:facepalm:

besides our (future) relationship revolves around love/nebraska football/cuddling/sea glass/surfing gnary waves/fishing/playing music/intrepretive dance/our mutual study of russina prison tattoos...... and NOT grammer

    :horns2

Okay, this is funny on several levels and VERY unlikely on another. :cop:

Yeah irieboy, I don't think she is going to call you.................................

Is that photo of that chick on Fox really Zac Lee's sister?

  9. Signed.

I guess the backup backup plan worked and he did get a Nebraska scholarship. :)

    Good to hear.

Also seems he and his father have been checking out the message boards and saw how we all liked his hitting, just another reminder to watch what you say about these young men because yes they do read them, and even though it's some guy on the internet it does have an affect on them and it isn't always positive like it was this time.

i agree about not jumping to conclusions about people, but at the same time this is a message board. Posters should have the right to voice their opinion be it good or bad.

It's generally wise for a player not to pay too much attention to message boards anyways. I'm sure C. Grixby has some thoughts on this.

That said, Wald's hits were very nice (and refreshing) :)

This guy looks like a young John Lynch. How the hell did he not get some offers from SEC schools? Is he bad in pass coverage or something? He looks like he's got enough speed to cover to me.

  10. Let's face it what was wrong back in 01 and now was the defense and never was the offense what we did was throw a offense that could score when you had good players for westcoast offense that hasn't done anything against good competition. What they can do to fix the defense I have no Idea.

The problem is Nebraska is getting dominated up front on both sides of the ball. There's not as much gap in the athletes on both teams as people think. Sure, Nebraska lacks speed on defense, however, both of Nebraska's offensive and defensive lines are getting completely dominated by their USC counterparts.

  11. Keller will be an upgrade...better size and arm strength

O-line....what can you say....Murtha, Slauson, and Co........I like this group..they are goin to be great

lots of work to do, but potential to play well is there.....question marks

Recievers.....Purify leads a group that will be deep and loaded with speed and good size

look, we just did not have ANY stand out receiver play this season, period. how much of that was due to Taylor and the offensive line not playing as well as they could have? we'll see what Keller can do...

RB's......with Jackson/Lucky we are stacked...good recruits comin in as well

Jackson is the man, Lucky is just slightly better than average at this point, goes down too easy, IMHO.

D-line.....Barfield, Suh, Townsend Steinkuhler and Turner easily gives us the best in Big12 North...nasty

THIS is the big question mark.....not enough experience carrying over..question mark

    LB's......with Asante,Octavien, McKeon....look out...speed speed....Asante can play Small LB Safety deep group

part of the transistion on defense......we'll see

Secondary......Asante, Murillo Bowman, Grixby...speed and depth

Grixby, are you kiddin me?? if he starts we will be no better than we were this season..the kid plays with heart, but he got his lunch handed to him all season..here we better hope like hell we get immediate help!

I look at this team and I see the major upgrades everywhere from 3 years ago...this looks like the kind of talent we had with Osborne....the D-line will be fine and the Juco players coming in look to be instant help

Huskers will have no trouble getting back to the Big12 title game with this group.......

if we can get off early with wins over Nevada and Wake we can go into the SC game looking for that BIG WIN

    I can't wait

Keller and the running backs are our only true know quantities.....receivers average at best, the rest is yet to be proven.......reality check, lots of new guys are going to have to step up........

Ok...well I don't look at Potter and Turner or SUH as new guys...and depth is not a problem so the D-line is settled

We agree on backs and QB

Wideouts......Purify catches every good pass he sees...and many of the other recievers do a decent job, but how many times have we seen Taylor get his guys killed with a pass behind a reciever over the middle or he tried to force a pass to a guy in double coverage....We will easily have the best recievers in the North and right up there with UT

O-line......I saw them handle every team we played this year......I think that they are as good as there will be in the big12 next year...Slauson/Murtha are goin to the NFL.......I blame the offensive flame outs on BC and taylor

Secondary.........Grixby is a player , Jones can play and Murrillo Asante Thenarse Culbert Ross and Bowman easily surpass anyone in the North and put them right on par with UT and OU

    LB's.....Deep group...and very good...best set of LB's in the country..easy

Asante Octavien Dillard Lawrence Ruud McKeon Lawrence Brandenburg......AWESOME

I don't think its time to start calling for the Sears Trophy but we need to win the Big12....and there are far less questions than you think

We get better and the North get weaker.........order restored

One guy that could be a good punt/kick returner for us next year could be Marcus Mendoza who is one of our incoming recruits. Watch out for him.

  12. I live in Wisconsin and must say the Huskers are better IMO than the Badgers who are ranked at 12. The Badgers haven't beaten one ranked team, and lost to Michigan. The Wolverines were the only actual good team they have played, and that was even in the top 25.. They had a very easy nonconference schedule too. The Huskers did as well, but at least they played a top 5 team in USC. The Big 10 is very weak after Michigan and Ohio State. Wisconsin is the 3rd best team, and after them there is a severe drop off.

  13. Man I hope we get this guy!!! He has to see we are a team on the rise and OU is on it's way down!!!

Huh?? OU is pretty darn good.

Yeah I sure as hell wouldn't say OU is down at all. They have like everyone coming back next year as well, except Peterson. However, as good as Peterson is you can see the O-line at OU is very good because they haven't missed a beat offensively. Allen Patrick the back-up to Peterson has looked just as good as him, and that is because of the huge holes the O-line is making. OU is a big time team and should only have 1 loss right now. OU is far from going down. I wish they would go down though becasue I hate them.

  14. :yeah Exactly. I'm throwing the BS flag on this one. I don't see players getting off the bus and heading to the tailgate before the game. Nor do I see them getting a quick bite and talk smack about their coach as they get ready to get on the bus. So I will be the first to throw this BS in front of the bus.

I know, I was surprised to see these two out and about. If you know anything about football at all, players who are injured or are redshirting or didn't make the travel squad, DON"T RIDE THE BUS. A friend of mine from lincoln who has hung out with ZB in lincoln, was talking to him when we were drinking. Yeah, its far fetched to some, and what he said was unexpected to me and some of the others with me. We were all getting ready to walk up and welcome the players get off of the bus on the north side of the stadium and he said "you guys have fun up there and tell coach to F*#! off when he gets off the bus." Take however.

Dude your a frickin big time bullshitter. Players who are injured do ride the bus by the way. You are changing yor story as well. First, you said ZB was drinking and tailgaiting with you. Now it is he just yelled some stuff at you and your buddy while you guys were drinking.
