Lou just called Ameer "Ameer Mohammed" on espn.
-
Last week we saw a heavy use of the jet sweep. But we never really utilized it. We just handed it to Ameer. Do you think Beck was saving the play-action and sweeps for this week or do you think we showed that to make Michigan state prepare for it?
-
We really need him. We have a desperate need for an athletic linebacker. Who knows how the Jaevon Walton situation will play out.

Defense is the unit that concerns me. I like the front 4 and have seen very good things from RG, VV, and McMullen. Miami negated our front 4 by getting the ball out quick. This is where teams exploit mismatches against our LB's and our secondary still needs to play better. We were being thrown against too easily and thus the very timely turnovers won us the game (props to the guys who made the needed plays...Roach forced fumble recovered by Mitchell, Santos diving INT, and a big INT by Kalu). We need to continue to get those opportunistic turnovers. Entire LB unit needs to improve. I like how Gerry has played for the most part. Mitchell, Davie, and Cockrell have been a bit shaky IMO so need better play from all of them. Cooper and Z. Anderson are players that we need to go to that next level...I think both are there athletically but have not seen them make a lot of plays this year, these guys need to be playmakers on defense. Kalu and Newby are promising young players.
I disagree about Mitchell and Davie. Both have played well above par imo. Davie was in great position when that Miami receiver caught that ball but he came back the next play with a huge tfl. He has been great in run support. I totally agree about Cooper and Zaire. I think Cooper has been dealing with a hamstring injury which has slowed him down.

Give the linebackers time to get it together. Pelini's defenses always take some time to get working properly. Last year it took over half the season until we fixed our lb problems. In 09 Phillip Dillard struggled early but ended up having a great season. I think Pelini is getting more comfortable putting our young d in zone d as we saw against Miami and this will help with covering those backs in the flats.

Glynn Watson is crafty but Morrow is day one starter material.

How fast is this man? Cuz we could really use some speed at mlb.

Please recruiting gods. I'm begging you.

We really need new animation in our tunnel walk. It looks like something from 1999. Can we please go back to this?
The first animation was the tunnel walk after the 1994 season. The animation for this season is epic as always. Also, please do not post any videos of Callahan, it makes me want to punch babies.
Ok you're right. I hadn't seen this years tunnel walk. For some reason I thought that we were still showing the same animated state capital, corn fields, and stadium pillars they have been doing for years. But this is bad***!

The officials were negating what could of been a 14 point swing. Of coarse he would get pissed, what coach wouldn't?

Your QB was much better than I expected [He threw three picks .] Duke Johnson is impossible to tackle. Next year is gonna be another wild game.I just want to start off and say congrats on your victory tonight.
Our QB Brad Kaaya is only a true freshman. Yet your defense still gave up 31 points.
Even though he had 2 picks. He looked very good in front of 91,000 fans

So to summarize the OP- the coaches and team sucking it up on field doesn't matter but the fans reacting to them sucking it up hurts recruiting? Mmmmmkay.
I didn't say that. Obviously a teams success has a greater impact on recruiting. But to bat a blind eye about fans actions affecting recruiting is ridiculous. When fans publicly state their desire to have a coach fired it creates a lot of uncertainty around the program. And I share deep concerns about this team and our head coach. But it does nothing but harm for me to express my displeasure for our coach at this point in the season.

But we aren't reacting appropriately. Were freaking out after a win. Nebraska fans are notorious for overreacting.Putting out a crappy product is hurting recruiting, not fans reacting appropriately to the crappy product.
And yet you are overreacting to this entire game, by starting a thread on overreacting.
Yes it's win, but abiet lucky win at that.
Lucky win lol.

I know how you feel, but recruits aren't looking on this board when making their decision. You're giving yourself too much credit.
You're kidding right? Recruits and players read this board all the time. If a recruit see that "all" the fans want a coach fired, they are likely to second guess committing to that coach if they think he will get fired.
-
Wait....what.. This boards B&M does not effect recruiting.
"golly I was going to sign with nebraska till I saw this forum and everyone all mad. I'm out I'm going somewhere else".
Yes, it actually does. The coaches talked about it in great detail after last season. Ask Hunter Dale if it effects recruiting.

How about we wait until the season is over before we judge our team. We won today. We are 2-0 and can still accomplish all of our goals. These type of games happen every year with every team. We play a team that is perceived to be bad and we overlook them. We had nothing to gain today and walked in thinking we were gonna show up and get a win. Last week we blasted FAU, and the players thought it would happen again today.
Stop calling for the firing of coaches. It only hurts perception and recruiting. It accomplishes nothing and leaves Nebraska's image in jeopardy. Let the season play out before you start making rash judgements. Last seasons uproar hurt our recruiting class significantly. After we won the bowl game everyone was back on board. Let your emotions cool before coming to such definite conclusions.
