Per LJS:
One more note: Pelini said he has not yet signed a contract. "That'll work itself out pretty soon," he said.
Maybe I've been in business a little too long, but I've seen too many negotiations fall thru, even when you thought you had a done deal.
I'm sure everyone on both sides have good intentions, but I would have had a signature before the presser

PITA
Pain In The Ass, my black lab

Sorry about the spelling. I'm getting the DT's from HC withdrawl.

Goin nuts, checking the board for the press converence

KFAB reported Pud was getting fired in between 11:30-12:00 because the guy at work that goes to lunch during that time slot told me when he got back.
Good for IBR and all the people that follow him. He predicted that the coach that most of Husker Nation wanted will be hired and the coach and AD that most of Husker Nation disliked would be fired.
I don't care one way or the other, but how many threads about this do we really need?
It was a saturday night he reported this info.
You must work the swing shift on weekends if you were at work
-
Sorry boys, IBR went 4 for 4.
Reported that there would be 2 firings and 2 hirings, back when Steve P was still AD

TO won't announce a new HC until the Big 12 reestablishes the NU vs OU annual game.
TO hires Bo so that Bo and Stoops can have a rivalry just like TO vs. Switzer.
ESPN is about to break the story
-
It is kinda funny to me that before anyone knew what was going on I stated that Pud would be fired, TO as interim AD and Pelini as HC. That was before there was even a press conference announced that PUD was going to be fired. Short memories ladies. I don't want credit or praise but again some guys feel the need to bash and I am just giving you info I heard from a UofA athletic dept official this morning.
This is true, IBR has a good ear

Neither Turner Gill nor Bo Pellini will come back as an assistant. One or the other may come back as the HC, and the other one will not be with our program next year.
i agree, unless TO is head coach for a year

Applause awaits Turner Gill
No huge news to deliver here, but Turner Gill and his Buffalo football team will be paid tribute tonight at a Buffalo Bulls' basketball game.
That they're honoring the Buffalo football team after a 5-7 season just shows you how bad that program was before Gill arrived.
Earlier this week, Gill was named MAC coach of the year.
Wow, Turner is so good, he can be at 2 places at once.
-
He'll coach for 1 year, not 4
been saying this for a couple of weeks
-
Wouldn't suprise me in the least.
I could easily see TO doing a 1 year stint as HC, while grooming either Gill or BO to take over the reins in 2009.
-
The Big 12 conference gets more revenue from the CCG than they would get from 2 BCS bowl games.
It's all about the money

What if:
TO decides to be headcoach for 1 year only. Not as head coach, but more of a CEO/mentor type.
Hire's both Gill and Pellini as coHC's. Each is responsible for his side of the ball completely. ex Hiring assistants, coaching, recruiting etc.
TO uses the year as an 1 year evaluation, able to really keep finger on the process. He promises at the end of his 1 year term, the better man will become HC, and Ozzy will step aside.
Problems:
1. Would Gill or Pellini accept these terms and conditions?
2. What happens when one person is passed over for the other?
I honestly think neither Gill nor Pellini are ready to be HC in primetime, but with the correct mentoring and learning from their own mistakes would be ready in 1 year.

With Class:
"And that's why Dennis Franchione barely waited for the sweat to dry Friday night to announce his resignation, after five years of failed promise in College Station."
No Class:
I've done an exceelent job, fire me - Billy Callahan
-
Ozzy will hire someone who isn't on anyone's radar
Would never hire Bo, Gill, or Solich
Just my gut
-
I was just going to say that. I guess the assistants are meeting with T.O. separately but not as a group.
KETV says assistant coaches are meeting with watson?????

3 Million is beer money when you start thinking of the TV fees and licensing fees

Could we pry Mitch Holtus from the Chefs??
I would love to hear him say "TOUCHDOWN HUSKERS"
-
I dont think it mattered who coached on the sidelines Saturday the Huskers were going to win no matter what.. Those players played there hearts out and I dont think BC had anything to do with that.. Callahan knows he is done so some of you are right he is just taking his shots before he leaves town.. Look the idiot didnt even stay on the field with his team to sing in front of the student section.. No class idiot good bye
The difference was the team playing for the seniors, rather than for the coaches
-
senior day, not even cally can f#*k that up! today is about the kids, not the piss poor coaches!
Cally forgot to adjust at half time
-
It's going to be alot harder for Oz to fire cally then everyone thinks.
Hard for a coach who has "been there"; wouldn't be suprised if cally gets a mulligan, especially if he beats CU.
Kind of a 1 year to fix it ala Solcih
I don't agree, but it wouldn't suprise me

They shared play calling duties. There were two shots during the game showing each one calling the plays. I think Watson called most of them, though. Funny, it seemed like we were tearing it up when Watson was calling plays, but we hit a wall when Callahan called them.
agreed
-
It looked to me like Watson called the plays the entire game, can anyone confirm?
How did the News Conference go for Pelini?

I'd like to hire whoever prep him. There is no way you repeat everything TO said he was looking for when you had a monster game the night before
