  1. when we were a few weeks into the season i was wanting 1 of 2 things to happen,

i would have preferred option 1...

    1. Bo has a stellar season thus causing a LSU or similar to for some crazy reason want to hire Bo and we get the best of both worlds... a possible championship and playoff appearance

    2. Lose as many games as possible because i cant dread going through more embarrassing losses next year.

Continuing to do what you have always done is going to lead to continuing to get the same results.

I for one believe that if Bo remains and has to fire staff, no good coach will want to work for a man that wants to do everything his way and thats they only way. Bo's ego will not allow him to relinquish that power. Plus IMHO Bo thinks that no one needs fired, thus with his statement yesterday he will NOT fire his buddies because he thinks they are doing a great job and this is ALL on the players. <=== that reason alone pisses me off more than anything else.

    • Fire 1
  2. I doubt SE has the balls to fire bo.

Something fishy happened last year and it will take some bad news to come out in order for Bo to get fired this year.

Bo flat dared them to fire him last year. Which I think they were going to. But something fishy happened to end that notion.. idk

Bo seemed way to comfortable after this game in presser unlike after last 2 losses last year.

  3. Seriously. Armstrong looks about as bad as any QB that we've ever had at NU. Fife has a much better arm. Bring the guy in. It couldn't get worse. Bo looks like Barney Fife sticking with Armstrong. Do you recall the MSU game? Armstrong was in the same funk. Fife comes in and - - presto - - TD. Give the guy a shot.

the number one reason why not Ryker Fyfe is: Bo does not want a second stringer to come in and make him look like a fool. If Ryker has a great game then he has a QB controversay on their hands, and it makes Bo who stands so strongly behind Armstrong look like an idiot

  4.

i listened to parts of this earlier today...

Didnt bo say something along the lines of "if you havent played the game you wouldnt understand"?

werent we outraged when Billy C put insulted our intelligence by saying something similar?

Bolievers, why is it ok now?

yeah. That kinda aggrevated me. Pretty sure i could see the simple technical adjustment they made to get us to bunch the cgap then hit us on the edges so that we start to over compensate allowing them to gash us with simple power. Why? All because that Peytonesque Joel Stave forced us to stay in a two high base. And we never once turned loose our future first round DTs to penetrate and disrupt.

Also, im quite confident i could teach our oline NOT TO TURN DLINEMAN LOOSE OVER AND FRICKIN OVER AGAIN.

I know its a bit ridiculous that i didnt care about audiogate but this infuriates me.

running 2 high safeties was so awesome.... we held wiscy to only 40 yards passing the entire game lol

40 yards passing and we still gave up 56 unanswered hahahahahaha

  6. yes, If you want to make it the standard... fine wtf ever... but dont charge fans up the ass for tickets, dont pay a coach $3M etc... go hire a "buffalo bill" show and you can watch what the old west used to be like instead of fighting the real war

  7. Nope...er..well, yeah I get it, just didn't want to call it out. Big picture huh? Intelligent coach? Bo has no intelligence? Well maybe not in comparison to the average Forum Coach I guess...

Surrounded by good people? Yep, Beck, Cotton, Brown, and the rest are obviously scum of the earth who shouldn't be trusted as role models for any young man.

National Laughing stock? Ahh.. now we get to the meat. All the other criteria was just potpourri to cover the stink of the real issue for you. Your "Big Picture" isn't all that big. It centers around your inability to deal with your disappointments and that justifies everything else. Graduation rates, running a clean program, having players of character on the team, the eventual ability to look back and say we did things the right way after success, these are all lost in the haze of your peripheral as you obsess on your disappointment that you can't have your championship right now. Life must suck for you. :cry

Bo has intelligence but he is incapable at this point to run an entire program... a few years ago everyone wanted muschamp to be a head coach, he got a good gig at a good program and wasnt able to cut it. But i think we can all agree he is a good defensive coach. If i were Bo and I wanted to save my job I would have been on the phone with him yesterday asking him to come run my D and and give him the reigns... but Bo wont do that. Bo wants his boys.. i think the point of the previous post was to point out that Bo isnt going to set his ego aside and become a CEO.

Surrounding yourself with good people is a good point. No the coaches we have now arent bad people or role models but they arent the best people for each particular job or position. Ellis for example has been removed from previous years responsibilities and he got a raise... how does that make sense. any coach should recognize their inefficiencies and go get the best person to fill that void. Offensive coordinator would be a great start. QB coach would be next or hire a guy to be both.

I like having a "clean" program as much as the next guy, but even Osborne didnt have a clean program all the time, Theft, assult, sexual assult, drug use, paying players etc... was all apart of his team as well. we just didnt hear about it... those things are still going on today... but I for one want some guys in here that are thugs... a good mix of kids that will go out and all out start a war on the field... THATS PART OF FOOTBALL, as it should be. Football is a modern day gladiator fight... go out with some of your boys, and get into a fight.... do you want guys who are smart and graduate or do you want a bad ass on your side who will go down swinging with everything they have and maybe fight a bit dirty?

we are a national laughing stock. and every year that goes by that we have embarrassing losses and no conference title we become less relevant. Nebraska Football is all we have, and we want to be noticed. people naturally want to be noticed in some form or fashion... we want to be in an airport or on vacation sporting our husker gear and be proud of what people say... not laughing... right now nebraska is to the nation what we always think of Iowa or Purdue or any other mediocre team. Thats how they look at us... I for one think thats unaccetable..

a good example would be the Royals. If you are a Royals fan you sit proudly today that your team reached the pinnacle.... but over the last 20 years you have been looked at as a feeder program to the rest of the league.

Because of Callahan Nebraska fans became ok with 9 win seasons against mediocre opponents... well enough is enough already. More and more people are in see it now.. The big picture that if you continue to do what you have always done, you will continue to get the same results.

Nebraska is an 8 or 9 win team every season no matter who is the coach... especially because of non con and big 10 schedules.

Go hire a guy that is going to put together the best staff possible, open up the check book and pay someone to get this program on the right track... dont hire a guy that is going to cut his teeth at nebraska to learn how to be a head coach.

    Scenarios I wouldnt mind seeing:

The obvious go pay John Gruden

or bring in Tressel and have Frost be his head coach in waiting for 3 to 5 years. Train him to be the guy.

Contradicting what i just stated above and bring in Kirby smart who has helped a program win 3 national championships and should have a good grasp on how to build a program to be a national contender. If your going to try a coordinator this would be my pick. Take a gamble... if it doesnt work, its not going to be any different or worse that what we have had during Bo's tenure.

The bottom line is any coach that comes in here, may not work to the highest. But at least give your program some hope and show that you are making an effort to get the best product on the field you can. Be competitive and not get embarrassed. If it doesnt work, making a change is ok. For whatever reason as a whole this university has been scared pf making a change... sometimes change is good..

Nebraska needs to start dating again, get that new girlfriend feeling again. If she is a crazy beotch then dump her and move on until you find that girl that is gunna do you right

  8. i havent been on much and just glancing through here... but ive been wanting this move for almost 5 years now.

i think he should be gone, and the chances go up with anymore losses from here...

but how do you fire someone who flat dared the administration to do so, with all the ammo they had.... he even though he was fired... but they didnt

So 95, in September of 2010, you already had the reasons laid out in front of you to suggest this is where we'd be at this point in the Bo era? (Think now. At this point in 2010, we were 2-0, and on the brink of a total ass whoopin up in Seattle).

I just happen to think your thoughts were just a hunch and are now a bit of revisionist history. But I congratulate you. You were right. As of now anyway.

If you asked many people around me hours before game 1 of that season, i said "this is bad, things are not going to be good." after taylors first play i facepalmed as everyone around me was cheering at the tailgate, again saying "this is bad, this is not a good thing,"

I didnt suggest that I had everything laid out in front of me by any means, and no this is not a "i was right" comment, I just knew things wouldnt be good. I didnt know how when or what for sure, You are right, its stated best as I had a very bad feeling about where this program was headed... that was the point where I strongly questioned Bo's decision making ability and leadership

Fair enough. And I was just asking too. Not trying to antagonize in case it came off that way. I was just curious cuz the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010 was the most hopeful and exciting time of the Bo era thus far. Not sure any other period of time even comes close.

I understand you have a hunch and are entitled to it, but I'm curious. What did you see or here that lead you to it? What about made you think that it could lead to where we are now? If of course that is what youre alluding to.

Here is where I stood at that point of Bo's tenure.

I was of the opinion after 09 that our D was good enough to lead this team to be a top 5 program and at least be in the conversation of XII championship and possible NC... From 09 ro 10 our offense only needed to be a smidge better, That side of the ball didnt need to do anything more but sustain drives, not turn the ball over and not put the D in sticky situations all the time. I felt that with Lee. although not an outstanding QB, could do just that. Manage a game, keep the team in favorable field position and not put ALL the pressure ont he D.

I questioned Bo's leadership and decision making because I think he liked Taylors athletic ability but wanted to start Lee... but when Taylors dad literally walked in Bo's office and said they are leaving, Bo made his bed right then and there... It was just unfortunate that we couldnt see what could have been with a consistent offense that didnt turn the ball over and make the D HAVE to play lights out and create things in order to win games.

  10. go royals.....

I mean, yeah, we're stuck with this situation, it flippin sucks, and most of us want change...

No, there is nothing we can do about it at this particular time, but we do have a voice... and our voice should be heard by Shawn and a change does need to be made.

Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, Shawn didn't have the time to seal the deal with the guy he wants/wanted to bring in last season, so he kept Bo, and hopefully he is shopping or working on that change as we speak. If not he's just as much at fault as Bo and Co. I tend to think he wants to do something special and be responsible for bringing relevancy back to Nebraska

I can appreciate that now, after 4 years of udder BULLSH*T that FINALLY people are coming around....

Have you not read this board the past ten months? Polo and several others have been saying much the same thing, in much the same way, all off season. In fact, NUpolo8 was saying very similar stuff during the season last year. If not before the Iowa game, then certainly during, and ever since afterwards.

Maybe this time I finally did it well.

I hope so, I used spell check and everything.

    Knapp,

No, i have not read many of the comments in the football section for along time, i just pop in now and then... i just kinda quit because my opinion and thoughts for a long time were drastically different than most of the Bolievers ets.

    NUpolo,

    You did good!! haha

  12. So 95, in September of 2010, you already had the reasons laid out in front of you to suggest this is where we'd be at this point in the Bo era? (Think now. At this point in 2010, we were 2-0, and on the brink of a total ass whoopin up in Seattle).

  13. THANK YOU!!!

    nupolo,

I have had these same sentiments for over 4 years. Ever since the issue with how Taylor Martinez got his job I have had an issue with Bo and this Program.... Since then I havent posted as much as I used to because I was chastised for my opinion on Bo and Taylor etc... I enjoy reading some things here and basically kept my opinions to the Baseball threads.

I can appreciate that now, after 4 years of udder BULLSH*T that FINALLY people are coming around.... I mean for me its absolutely absurd that my favorite program, my heros of the college football world, the team I wanted to play for and would have died trying, i root for them to lose so the administration has no choice but to fire his ass... I honestly think last year the administration just did not get the guy they wanted and they decided to keep Bo because they had no better option, and they did not want to just make a change "just to do it" they want the right fit, the right guy, the right leader.

Its sad to me that I get excited thinking about the prospect of this team losing so we can get a new coach and a new light to this program, A new feel, a new excitement, a feeling that the dream of even COMPETING can possibly come to fruition. We as Nebraskan's, want to be on the map, we are prideful and our pride is in our Huskers. Re-draw your pirate treasure map, 'cause the trail to the treasure is quickly disappearing. I think that is all we ask for, yes we were spoiled in the 90s and before, but now to ask for a program with a fan base, the money, the facilities not to field a team that is competitive enough to be proud of is absurd!

The B1G sucks, our schedule sucks, and like NUpolo said, we will get that pretty little 9 wins and everyone will be happy... Solich was fired because he couldnt recruit and had embarrassing losses.... how many times have you been embarrassed as a fan the last 7 years... no seriously look in the mirror and ask that without making an excuse.... i can count on more than 2 hands... no how many BIG wins have you been excited and thrilled and proud of in that time frame? And I dont mean a hail mary come back win against the likes of teams such as Northwestern.... I can count less than 5. Big wins had to come against teams that had injured QBs like Ohio state, Michigan, and Wisconsin...

Karma is a funny thing, the last several years Nebraska has scraped by the skin of its teeth on sooooooooo many games, is this the year that everything starts evening out and those "close" games the ball bounces the other way? I dunno but it came damn close this week.....
