  1. Very true about the injury. In fact, it seems to be more negative than positive when guys do return......no stats too back that up, just sayin...

But, didn't Suh have shoulder surgery early in his career? But, he did have more than a year to reach full speed again.

Suh had knee surgery.... (I'm pretty sure it was his first year) But, I think the point being made was, a great number of kids with injuries are not able to come back mentally or phisically. It takes a special person to come back 100%.

    See:

    Oden, Greg

    London, Frankie

    Herian, Matt

    Blue, Anthony

    etc.

I think Matt suffered more from the massive broken leg and the fear assoiciated with that. jmho

  2. To put that in perspective, Alabama nose guard Terrence Cody is a likely All-American and these are his stats: no sacks, six tackles for loss, 25 tackles, one pass defensed, no forced fumbles, no interceptions, three quarterback hurries and two blocked kicks.

I know bama uses a different defense, but seriously, as good as Cody is I thought his stats would have been better. Our defense isn't designed for him to make plays he is supposed to occupy lineman so other people can make the tackle. I think his feel for the game and what is going on around him makes Suh special. At 31, I am wondering if I will ever the stats from a DT that he put up the last 2 years. Is so gret, if not, man am I glad I was around to see the show!!!

  3. The offense lost this game, not the officials. Do you remember that sh**ty throw that was intercepted in the touchdown or how about Kinnie not shortening his splits for the fade?

I really hope that Bo takes charge of the offense and changes are made. No f-ing touchdowns in a game where we got turnovers in their territory.

even with our annept offense we should have won the game. I keep remembering snapping the ball with 11 seconds left on the play clock. Should have been snapped at 2 seconds at the least. Also, the kickc out of bounds screwed us. I am beginning to think Bo and Carl can win with a top 50 offense consistently.

  4. Bo needs to chill the f*** out with screaming at players like that. You would never see a coach like Stoops or Brown yelling at a player on the sidelines like that. In the locker room, thats fine, but on national TV? :wtf

Especially since a lot of recruits were watching that game, that looks really bad.

Yes happened later in the game after one of his players got a personal foul! I have no problem with Bo yelling when he is right! Makes the kids accountable. If someone is afraid to get yelled at then I doubt they are going to be any good on the football field. I don't want them go somewhere else.

  5. We may have our offensive idenity. Let the defense make the plays and play the qb that is going to make the least mistakes. IIRC, that was the LSU title team. Great defense, enough offense to get it done. Helu is a difference maker when he is healthy. We looked like we have as much talent in our 2 deep as OU. Great win and hopefully we don't lay another egg.

  6. 1. Still think Green is a good starter?

    2. Watson... improved or not?

    3. Receivers improved?

    4. O-line, better or worse?

Green really ads that 2nd dimension, But I was not impressed with his throws AT ALL. But I say at this point we stick with him.

Watson on the sideline was for sure better I think, He COULD* really coach the players and interact with how things were supposed to go, but as far as the play calling, I thought we got into more run formations but then ran stupid behind the line passes or predicatable bubble screens. This needs to Stop, we need to use the run to set up these plays not vice versa.

Receivers caught what I thought they should, Cody threw the ball a little high at times.

O-line has been garbage the last 3 years, and next week will really show.

Green adds a different dimension not a 2nd one. He can't throw the ball well enough consistently to be two dimensional yet. He is a running qb that the way he threw the ball today we should go back to running the option. At this point, Green is no threat to throw the ball and OU will feast on that this week. I didn't think it was possible, but our offense was even more vanilla this week.

  7. No freakouts please... What are your reactions to this win?

    1. Still think Green is a good starter?

    2. Watson... improved or not?

    3. Receivers improved?

    4. O-line, better or worse?

1, Green is not ready to be the starter, he was no threat to complete anything but screens as swing passes in the second half and Watson knows it.

    2. Needs to learn to run out of other formation other than shotgun. Options from the gun with the back getting the ball 6 yds behind the line of scrimmage are not going to work with our talent level.

    3. Fewer drops, but still no explosion.

    4. May be the reason for the struggles since VT.

  8. Well, it's obvious that a new OC will have to be hired at the end of the season. This is ridiculous. Defenses don't have to think or adjust much at all to stop these plays.

Unfourtanately, Lee was not the source of all the offensive problems. Green is not ready to play a complete game. He needs to be situtional. Our offense is pathetic, but Green is not the answer.

I think it was important for Green to get the start. Yes he has growing pains but that's part of being a freshman.

13 offensive points against BAYLOR. Didn't move the ball at all in the 2nd half. At least last week we moved the ball up and down the field. We got outgained by Baylor, or really close. Green is not ready. He was not a threat to throw the ball today and won't be next week against OU.

  10. No, I didn't think we were going to a BCS Bowl, but I did think we had the potential to go to a fairly prestigious bowl game...not get eliminated or play in some crappy bowl that no one cares about.

Were we 3-3 last season or 4-3? That season didn't end up horribly. Actually, many on this board were calling it a spring board to this year.

  11. I have no problem with playing the best players. What have you seen to show you Green is better? Locking on receivers against TT? At least 2 other INTs dropped against TT? For that matter how many great freshman starting qbs have there been? Even superman Tebow didn't start as a freshman. Bradford was as RS frosh, McCoy did well, Forcier is 4-3 I Believe. I believe Green should be in for a couple of series a game, I just don't think he is ready. Although, maybe we will find out!

  12. Our offense is anemic. Period. That's why people are calling for Watson's head.

Our defense is still a top 5 defense. With a decent offense, we are 7-0.

Our offense is, well,.....PUTRID. Our offense is disgusting - our offense is abysmal. Anyone that says otherwise is a fool. If not, I dare you to prove me otherwise.

Long story short....Our defense is AWESOME. Our offense is less than average. Our offense is sub-par.

What the hell is it with you guys? Are you really that blind? What the f*** is everyone's problem with calling for Lee to not be our QB?

The offensive side of Nebraska Football needs to be completely overhauled. Nebraska just lost to Iowa State....at home.

If you guys are happy with that performance, good for you....but I pity you.

While I readily admit Lee has made some questionable plays, in watching Green against TT I truely believe he is not ready. What happens if Green struggles? Do we keep going down the depth chart until we win a game? Our 8 turnovers cost us the game. ISU FORCED 8 turnovers. Frankly, they deserved to win. Lee not "playing well" had nothing to do with 3 fumbles inside the ten. I'll give you the tipped pass as his fault even though Jessie Smith made a great play like he did all day. That gives us a minimum 9 points left on the field, while underwhelming still wins us the game. I have to trust the coaches to put the best team on the field. What are they doing, trying to lose games so they can lose their jobs? In the end, we got outplayed and the back-up qb is always the favorite player on the team.

  13. How about counting the drops and deducting them from the total.

I know he had drops, so I am not trying to pin all of the blame on him. But when we need ten yards for the first down, he is still looking at receivers 5 yards downfield. (Niles Paul drop late in the game) And he always looks for a checkoff receiver like Helu. He just really reminds me of Sam Keller. He even has a similar release. He doesn't always put receivers in great positions. Also, when was the last time that he consistently lead receivers rather than throw behind them?

Again, he is not the only problem, but his situation needs to be thoroughly examined.

In my opinion at that point he was trying to get us into field goal range, which wins the game. Niles gains atleast 7 on the play and we may be close to fg range.

  14. His measureables appear very similar to Josh Williams.

I understand that 40 times aren't all created equal, and just because their numbers are the same doesn't mean they are the same class of player.

My point is that it doesn't make sense to me why a 4.8 forty is ok in Josh's case but has to be a bad thing in Micah's.

Well said. A lot of people still think they know more about football than the coaches we have. Sean Fisher is 6'4'' 200 and 4.8 speed no one is doubting the offer to him. He had 124 total tackels this year. As a former player, I think that is impressive.

it is because Sean Fisher played in Omaha and Micah played Class C.

btw he is a 4.0 student with a 30 ACT

Just sayin' he has the same measureables

  16. Not a surprise to me that he didn't pan out in football. My brother competed against him in high school and the two were acquantances at the U of I. My brother said all along that he didn't have the drive or desire to finish his career as a great in the program. Nice to hear that he has moved on with his life.

  17. LOL @ Ruud- I wish him the best, but hes in for a RUUUUUUUD awakening! There are much better linebackers coming off injury.... ahem....(excuse me) Dillard and I would even like to see a new face like Blake Lawrence get a look. May be this year Coz will teach Ruud how to hustle and tackle someone the way youre supposed to tackle someone and not around the neck!

The kid garners some national attention and all you can talk about is how he can't tackle, blah, blah. He is rarely out of position and he makes plays.

  18. It's confirmed that Matt Herian is about .2 slower than he was 2 years ago. Good showing by him and B-Jax nonetheless.

Yeah. That 4.68 isn't bad compared to the TE's at the combine. He ran a little faster than I thought he would too.

Omaha World Herald siad Herian had a 38 inch vertical. Also, said it's the first time he ran the 40 since he broke his leg. I would like to think he could drop those 2 tenths with some work on his start. I think he opened some eyes today with his speed in the 40 and explosion in the vertical jump. I would be surprised if he is drafted, but with that skill set I think he gets a free agent contract. I also believe he will is still recovering. I would look for him to get better over the nexy 10-12 months.
